The dopamine hit I get from unboxing a Collector's Edition is an added bonus.

Soundtrack is a no-brainer - ME's always had great music. Same with concept art.
DLC mission/character/outfits/pet FENRIS mech? Seems BioWare knows of my weakness for shiny, pretty things...
N7 weapons - wow. Almost like having the classic Spectre Master Gear back (similar colours, too), not to mention they're improved versions of the best ME2 DLC guns. Bring it on!
So yeah - it's a bit of done deal, really. It's full of really, really nice stuff - maybe some of the best 'special edition' content I've seen offered for a game.

Also, for the alternate outfits + N7 hoodie. And the other goodies as well - the fabric patch and in-game weapons are pretty cool (I

Because I've been a Mass Effect fan since Mass Effect 1, and I got the ME2 Collectors' Edition. If I didn't get the CE for ME3 it would't feel right, especially since it's the last game in the Shephard trilogy.

Was curious what everyone else's reasons were for getting the CE edition. Is it for the 70 page artbook? The nice case? In game items? Comic? I know we can say all of the above, but anything specific? What's the main reason?
I admit, I'm getting it mostly for the 4 in-game bonus weapons.
Simple. The game. The artbook didn't do it, the patch, or the tin. It came down to more content. I had already had the standard on reserve fully paid for. One evening I'm browsing these forums and low and behold Chris Priestly made the announcement for the CE version. I don't know how I made it through the night...Shaking, feeling like I was with Lindsay Lohan in rehab. No support groups, just pure will. The next afternoon, with bags under my eyes and the sunlight burning, I made a pilgrimage to my local Gamestop. Showed my I.D. and receipt (for good measure) and upgraded. As soon as I paid for it and walked back outside feeling completely rejuvenated. I looked at the sky and heard this.

And that robo dog sounds kinda cool. Still wish we could bring Urz on the Normandy.

The artbook is an attractor, seeing how they planned the art of the game and stuff...
At this point Bioware can sell me chocolate chip cookies and I'd buy 'em knowing full well that they'd be good.
Also additional swag is always a plus.

To elaborate, I enjoy the games and I think its worth getting. Besides, how long do you think it will be before another series lives up to Mass Effect? Unless they're already making plans for ME4 >.>

i rarely preorder for the same reasons. the only game i can remember "preordering" and having the bonuses from that was dragon age 2, and i didnt do that on purpose, i bought it a couple hours before its release on steam to preload it and that counted as a preorder rofl

Furthermore, my usual stores (on- and off-line) don't carry the collector's edition OR the digital deluxe edition, so I'd have to switch over to A. Origin or B. Game.co.uk or C. an off-line Belgian store. In all three cases, I'll have to fork over way more than I'd originally planned to spend on the game.
Game.co.uk is a no-go, because I'm simply not forking over 80 EUR (£69) for a for a PC game.
Origin is PROBABLY going to be a no-go, because I'm not to sure about that store yet. But it's more likely, seeing as it's "only" 70 EUR over there. Still, that's a hefty price.
Also, Origin offers a "digital" lithograph, which is absolutely ridiculous. A digital lithograph isn't a lithograph, that's a JPEG, and therefore worthless. Just send me the bloody lithograph! (Valve did it with the digital Half Life 2 gold edition, I think.)
Soooo... It'll depend on the price in Belgium.
