Is anyone else having trouble accessing the old forums? I can't even get to any of the guilds I still belong to on the old guilds forums. My link keeps getting redirected to some new bioware web page.

Yup.  I just posted a link to the Server Admin boards and within the last hour, the old address will no longer navigate to the legacy boards.  Let's hope this is just some server juggling or our throats have just been cut.

Besides that, unless someone has loaded them to the Vault somewhere, there is no longer a way to get any of the NWN patches. :(

Same here. Damn... even though we knew such a day was due to come, it still feels bad. Let's hope the archives and guilds are gonna be back.

I can not get any of the links to work. FAQ Devlopers section with the file formats. They all seem to be gone.

If I try and log in with my old login and password it sends me to this stie.

Crud. I hope we get the archive that was promised.

It is because folks kept throwing it into their faces, like this previous thread Will access to the old Bioware forums be removed soon? .

Folks just never seem to get things. They always ask fairly stupid questions that bring attention to things that should have been left alone, now ALL that history is gone.

Besides, we knew it was coming, EA hates support, and Bioware's old games are long past making money for Bioware, much less for EA.

Now your Balders Gate forums, etc, all are gone.

No one took the time (me included) to copy/paste the old forum data, we all trusted Bioware, which no-longer really exists as a separate entity, it is just a token name in a big conglomerate that has no bearing on what originally made them big and where the accountants see savings on support by just killing off the old stuff that they see no profit from.

Sucks, doesn't it?

We have built-in patching using the critical rebuild 1.69 in our arf-2 utility, which is very handy for reinstalling NWN. It has some material unique to HG, but it's optional to install it (you're asked during install). It turns installing 1.69 (and the CEP, if you want it) into a no-brainer.

I am truely hoping that this is temporary. I just did a clean install of my computer and NWN is completely unuseable. The disc version won't update, and the game won't run without updates. I cannot find an early Critical Rebuild, and am stuck...

Well, this is a big stinker. :(

And the page for bioware.com is advertising Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot.

Crap ... my NWN keys ...

You'd think the least they could do is have the old addresses redirect to the NWN1 section of this forum.  Looking at BioWare's front page now (where all the old addresses/forum links now seem to point), I see no trace of NWN.

Edit: Found it.

Games > Legacy Games

Ah, look.  Only links for it are 3 lousy screenshots.  How about a link to this forum and a link to buy it from Good Old Games, eh?  It'd be nice if the limited information was useful.

Well, at least WoG ported over all the ECB builds for players to use.  However, I personally used the legacy site to see if my friends were playing and where.  There are alternative tracking methods of course, but with the messaging still intact it was a handy and no-frills set-up that we have become accustomed to using.

Reminds me of an old Jack Nicholson/Marlon Brando movie called Missouri Breaks where there is a black fade, then a short slashing sound and then a lit close-up of Brando's eyes with Jack's voice saying "That sound you just heard was your throat being cut."

EA is lame.

So does this also mean there is no way to register your CD keys? What about setting up an account for multiplayer gaming?

The ECB guild fora have been backed up in their entirety
(probably but for the last 2 builds posted by yours truly) although what
is currently available on the WoG site is not the last updated version.

EA is lame.

Definetely.

IIRC the procedure of typing in your CD keys on the legacy site was just an exercise in your own personal security keeping.  Should you later on forget your keys, Bioware would have emailed them to you.  Also, there was no authentication during the process, so if you had typed them in wrong, those bad entries are the ones which would have been retained and furnished.  What is most important is that the codes are listed properly in the ini.

AFAIK the keys are only authenticated (other than during game installation) when/if a Gamespy server checks it, though I may be wrong about that.  For playing LAN, they are used to keep the players distinguishable possibly. We played for years on our own network before ever even finding out about the Bioware site and officially "registering" the keys/game.

It would seem as the direct download links are still active.

For example;

http://files.bioware...9HotUUpdate.exe

will still download the 1.69 patch.

If we can only figure out what the linkes where for some of the other stuff?

Right now I am stuck at work and can not do much.

So I was going to come here and post what is happeneing and what you can expect, but reading Bannor Bloodfisst post, and seeing how I am part of a terrible horrible company, I'm just going away now.

After all, that's what we do now, right?

Sure Chris, blame me for you and your companies lack of foresight.

A simple warning posted in this forum, would have PREVENTED any negative comment, I mean, surely, since you are the "god of information" you had prior warning to such a drastic move.

But, alas, you and yours proved that you don't care much, do first, warn afterwards, and blame the honest fans that have hung on so long for your lack thoughtfulness.

My comment posted earlier in the thread, takes no issue with Bioware, nor you, only with the conglomerate that doesn't care for it's fan base.  Your response, singling me out, puts even more emphasis on how little you and yours care for those that helped to make you and your business what you are.

You have personally attacked me in the past as well.  Why?  Is my forthright honesty too much for you, or does it hit just a little too close to home?

C'mon, you can't be the real Chris Priestley, you must be one of dem "token names in a big conglomerate" or whatsitcalled! The real Chris Priestley is an awe-inspiring warrior and one of the NWN communities' idols - surely you don't expect us to believe that he would let one angry dwarf stop him from what he was going to do, when so much is at stake?

You work for a subsidiary of Electronic Arts, so, yes, actually, you are.
