Who should I have in my party after completing Lothering?

Some thoughts:
1) I am playing a male character, so I'd like to romance Morrigan (to get the achievement), but the time I encounter Leliana and Sten, I need to drop someone out. If I drop Morrigan, will I meet her later and where?
2) Do I need to keep Alistair (as he is a Grey Warden too)? Is he going to be some help later with the recruitments / in Redcliffe with the arl? Do I find him somewhere later if I drop him in Lothering?
3) Is Sten going to be any good? There is an achievement in the game if you party up with all possible characters, so does the game (I am using Xbox360) consider me partying up with Sten if he agrees to join me and then in the character selection screen I actually don't select him, but continue with the original party?
4) I'd like to have Leliana as well (obviously for the romacing achievement), but I have a feeling she will later be helpful character otherwise too.
5) I feel bad letting my dog go...Posted Image

So who should I take with me and in which order (if it matters)?

When you 'drop' a character they wait for you at your party camp for the rest of the game and you can switch them whenever you want from there so it's not like you lose the characters.

All picked up party members will be at your camp unless you directly tell them to shoo.

You don't really leave these characters behind, they're still in your party they're just not fighting with you at the moment. You can drop Morrigan if you want, even if you want the romancing achievement. All you have to do then is get back to your camp from time to time to talk to her or give her gifts, or you could let her back into your party at any moment (when this is possible ofc, like in cities or towns or in your camp). As for who you should take with you: the first time I played the game I wanted to keep Allistair (also for the romance achievment) and Morrigan because they were the first 2 characters I've met and because I liked them :). It also depends on what class you are: for example if you're a damage mage you should consider taking a healer with you, a melee damager (a rogue would be nice since they are nice for picklocking) and a warrior that can take some damage.
