I don't see the future as grim as you do. I highly doubt this will result in a loss of sales. People used to think no one would buy things through digital destribution methods and they've been proven wrong.Gebut wrote...

you look forward to having to install a different service for every publisher, when you install your retail pc game? cause thats where we are heading.
People will get fed up with not beeing be able to buy all their favorite games at their favorite digital store. Instead they have to go to Origins for EA games,Ubistore, for Ubi games etc. Sales will get lower and once again the PC market seems to be irrelevant, just when we were starting to get somewhere with digital sales.
That and it has been proven without a doubt that the majority of PC gamers will accept anything the publishers do to screw them over and/or inconvenience them. So why would this be any different?
That said, do I look forward to this? Heck no. Would it be better to have a singular, robust method of digital distribution instead of many with wildly varying degrees of quality? Offcourse! However with the way the industry, economy and many other factors work, that's just an impossibility.
I just rather dismiss the things that are impossible and try to focus on making the things that are possible better. Meaning instead of wishing things like Origin and Impulse didn't exist, I'd rather see them be good instead of half assed.

You already have an EA/Origins account if you're posting here.CMD-Shep wrote...
I'm not gonna buy it from Origin. I already have accounts with Steam and GOG and I refuse to juggle multiple accounts on multiple delivery platforms.

ME2 was actually the last game I bought retail. From then on out I always bought everything on Steam. If ME3 doesn't come to Steam then simply I won't buy it.
Then it will be your problem and nobody here will care about it... especialy since you WILL buy it nomather what the distributing matter but your just talking here to display your unreasonable anger towards EA and sound rebelly cool.
Honestly, I don't mind having 6 accounts everywhere. I already have a Facebook, a Twitter, EA, Steam, PSN, gmail, Games For Windows Live... and somehow, magicaly, I don't get lost and distracted with remembering my paswords, keeping track of informations and such.

AFAIK you can't verify them either. Nothing is more annoying that to reinstall the whole damn thing because few files are corrupt/missing/screwed up by user.ufarax wrote...
BACKUP AND RESTORE GAMES. BACKUP AND RESTORE GAMES. BACKUP AND RESTORE GAMES. BACKUP AND RESTORE GAMES. You cannot backup and restore games through Origin.

It's still nine months to go. That's nine months for EA to watch sales of Crysis 2 and Alice sink like a rock. They also haven't pulled ME, ME2, DAO or DA2 from Steam yet, but as for why we can only speculate.
lol, this. We can only hope they really do sink that badly.
In response to the whole not wanting to use Origin... the reason I don't want to purchase it from there is because I don't trust this platform like I do Steam. I know steam is going to be around for a long time because its successful. Origin will likely fail like all other digital distribution platforms trying to compete with steam. What would happen to my purchase once it does? Hopefully they compensate, but you just don't really know that for sure. If steam ever happens to fail I know i'll have the back-up game files for all of the games I own, and while it wouldn't be as convenient, I can still play them all.
I also don't want to support this multiple distribution platform crap that is going on. Steam has a great system going for it right now. All of the major publishers are on it and every so often, they hold major deals on big and little games. I can get PC games for cheap as hell on steam. In fact, I haven't bought a game over $20 since ME2 the day it came out. Since then, i've purchased over 20 games. If publishers begin to pull their games from steam like EA is doing, my purchasing habits of 'wait until its cheap on steam' would go away. As the consumer... that sucks.

I swear the attitude some people have with their reverence to a bloody store of all things sickens me somewhat... Do yourself a favor and buy from whoever offers you the best deal (it just so happens that this is often Steam, hence why most of my games come from there.... but I will not hesitate to buy a game from elsewhere, like Direct2Drive, if they offer me a better deal).
If Origin has the best (and/or only) deal on ME3, then so be it, I'll buy from there.
God it's annoying how pathetic my fellow humans are at times.... bloody retailer worship of all things... sigh... any one of them would throw you under a goddamn bus if they could do it and make money off it... stop fooling yourselves into thinking they're worthy of your reverence and undying loyalty.

There's a first for everything
I like steam. It's far from perfect but it works adequately for me.
It's a shame if ME3 won't be available on it. I dislike having to get another online distribution thingy majik.
