What a waste of time

Waste of whose time? Marketing? Last time I checked, making trailers is their job.TwistedComplex wrote...
Oh boy... Nothing like wasting valuable time on a useless trailer because people can't get over themselves

Oh God. Can you imagine Silverman being head director of marketing and development?

You don't think a femShep trailer would help to draw in more girl gamers? Why don't Bioware just write girl gamers off as a nuisance entirely and let other, more opportunistic (competent) companies bait them into buying their products? /sarcasm
Please, read your comment, then read your username, and please tell me you don't see the hysterical irony in that name.

NO, i don't. Just like a commercial with a male doesn't draw me in.
I don't have some deep, profound connection with my own gender in trailers

Marketing is, for all intents and purposes, just that--fan service. You're not really making any sense with this argument of yours. Sorry.TwistedComplex wrote...

Marketing is to get new people into the series. WHY would they make trailers for people who are ALREADY fans?

It would be funny as hell if femshep was on the front wearing a bikini
boobs sell
'Kay, see, now THAT's fan-service.
...
Do... do you think they could actually do that? It would be pretty sweet....

I guess we'll see what's what tomorrow. I was among the first to predict the trailer at the VGA's. Honestly, if it doesn't showcase tomorrow, then marketing will have utterly lied to us.TwistedComplex wrote...

^ But it would if it was showcasing a male lead in a medium dominated by female leads.
"I don't have some deep, profound connection with my own gender in trailers."
^ VERY insightful. I suppose that would be relevant if you were a girl, and if you weren't of the gender that has been largely favored in nearly every videogame to date.

It's been favored because it's mostly men who play video games. How shallow does someone have to be that they're drawn in, not by the game, but by the gender of the face they stuck on the cover?

Women are more likely to identify with female leads, and more likely to take note of a game that puts a female in the role of a strong leading protagonist.
You're stating the obvious my friend, don't need to spell it out to the short minded bunch.
Weather or not the whole point of the FemShep trailer is attract more female gamers (can't see that honestly, but maybe I'm wrong) I do like the fact that the female shepard and Jennifer Hale's voice acting will get a little bit of public recognition.

It's one of those very small elements that is more of a sweetener than a deal breaker. Both genders have played the game up until now any way, it's just nice to have official recognition that there are actually FemShep players out here.
