I'm not a big fan of the idea, I've always been playing as Sheploo. But well, if it makes female fans happy that's okay I guess. I just hope they include 2 versions of the covers (male/female), or that they wont ruin what could've been a good cover just for making 2 characters fit instead of one.
That would suck.

Female gamers are a vastly neglected market, having FemShep on the cover and in trailers is a good thing and tapping into this market will bring more people to the game.

I'm really glad to see BW grabbing the reigns and taking a step forward to represent femshep in official materials. I sincerely hope BW will continue advertising female pc options, when available, in future projects. Doing this, they join the far-too-thin ranks of industry advancers. It is also my sincerest hope that, as BW and other companies continue to create and market viable, respectable female protagonists, they will encourage and attract more female gamers to the industry (as gamers or for a career). You can't grow a market if the target audience doesn't know they are wanted.

I know I ignored ME1 for quite a while until I'd heard about femShep through the grapevine. Had BW advertised or mentioned her, I'd have gotten the game sooner and not have had to rely on word of mouth.

I don't feel so guilty now for finally caving and getting ME1. Now I just need to wait another two weeks for my new broadband connection to happen so I can validate, patch and get the free dlc.
I'll use the time to doodle on Sheploo's face on the cover.

I'm with you on this as well...although they did atleast quell the ladies abit when they did previews for DA 2 and used Lady Hawke for the most part in those runs...
