What does he mean "both are on the covers"? One on each side?

They're making out, I imagine.

It means something like this:

On the cover, probably side by side or ...something like that.

...That pic is rather scary, actually.

I want this picture on the front cover. Just Shepard staring at the ME3 logo.

I'm hoping for side by side...2 Sheps better than 1 type of thing. Probably won't happen though, too many derp durp fans will think FemShep is a LI option or something. Oh well, that's where imagination comes into play!

And half the casual fanbase will go:

"Holy sh*t, you can play as a GIRL?! Why didn't anyone tell me?!"

I find it creepy as hell too.

Thank God for Tali, Jack and Ashley.
Otherwise I would romance her and see that abomination.

I think they noticed "Female Shepard" option when starting new game.

I'm so happy~
I really hope this is something that they'll keep doing with all their future games. I see no reason why the female main character can't share the spotlight with the male. Please BioWare keep this up <3

The women sould go back to the kitchen.
Seriously though, it's nice to see that Bioware is paying attention to the community.
I'm getting the digital version so I don't really care.

FemShep and ManShep at once :)

I'm tired of seeing only ManShep everywhere. No offense, okay?

Could we get a femShep version of the regular game edition too? I like Mass Effect and all, but 80 bucks is a bit much.

^ box is a lot more important than a trailer. Trailer you might watch once, and only before the game comes out. A box you have to look at every time you take out the game.

you're making the mistake of thinking the game will leave my xbox after it goes in.

seriously don't understand why BW suddenly feel it's necessary to stuff femshep on the cover when defaultmaleshep was specifically created to market the game, if anything you'll just confuse the more casual gamer not vested in the universe (perhaps why they are keeping it for the CE). the casual market is still a far more important segment than the few percent that play a femshep.

given all the marketing possibilities for mass effect, i also don't get why mr silverman is so hung up on femshep than exploring other avenues as well. compared to other EA franchises, and even dragon age, mass effect has had markedly less marketing/ancillary products on LIVE/Home etc than the others.

1. You'll need a gigantic flameshield.

2. The REGULAR edition is marketed for casuals, and it has Sheploo on it. Femshep will only appear in the CE, which is made specifically for fans. Simple as that.

It really does show Bioware listens to its fans      Im so happy!!! :D

After ME2 femshep only got 4 screenshots prior to release.  Now shes on the CE box and is getting her own trailer!!!!!

Im so glad Bioware changed what we all thought was an immovable stance of Sheploo being the "iconic + recognisable" image on all ME marketing!

So thank you Bioware!!   We love you!!

meh i didn't do it to incte anything. there are 3 shepards: default, which most people use, custom and femshep(/custom). default is used for advertising, femshep is by comparison a mere step away from campaigns for customisable covers/whatever. like it or not mass effect is a brand, and you use an icon like shepard to market said brand. wasting time and resources appealing to minorities on stuff that should be used to highlight the game to everyone will hurt the game, not help it. it's also unnecessary to highlight femsheps or customs sheps because:

a. anyone interested in the game will find out about the customisation anyway, if the game itself doesn't appeal it's not going to suddenly change just because you can play as X.
b. physical customisation is such a small part of the actual character customisation and the game itself.

i just see it as a shame they couldn't have had shep on the front and say a reaper on the back, like with the ME2 CE and shep/harbinger.

given all the things BW could be doing to market the game to everyone, i still don't see why they are suddenly so desperate to highlight one particular thing, which by very definition - and BS's own stats, appeals to so few.

He says "We're working on the look now." Sounds like Bioware is going to update default FemShep's look. Finally! Original FemShep certainly was no cover girl. Should keep the red hair though.

You'll be surprised by how "casual" the casual market is. Your points (both "a" and "b") are actually incorrect. The first point may hold some truth, but the second is plain nonsense - it's not mere physical customization when you talk about what gender you play as. People care about that much more than you are apparantly aware of. And coming from this, how do you know what appeals to a few and what doesn't if it hasn't even been commecially pointed out before?

Oh, and by the way - adding an additional face to an extremely limited Collector's Edition which is bursting with all kinds of goodies doesn't mean Bioware is trying to furiously emphasize Femshep presense, while "wasting" manpower they could have used for whatever it is you're suggesting. It's a Collector's Edition. No harm done. All right?
