Well, you implied that Silverman ought to be working on making sure the game is good or something when that's simply not even his job. It just seemed like a ridiculously uneducated demand to make. But if you meant to say something else, then consider the remark scrubbed.

Undereducated? No, the fault is with you and your lack of reading comprehension, nothing else. He's supposed to be marketing a game, not box art. He’s more concerned with style rather than substance, which after DA2 is a joke. I’ve seen nothing of note from this guy about the game itself.

My lack of reading comprehension?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... nope.

More like your lack of knowledge about how departments in companies, let alone game companies, work.

I'm done with you.

FemShep does not deserve "special" recognition.  She deserves simple recognition. *snip*
This tiny, insignificant nod towards femSheps is a simple niceity in acknowledging the femShep fanbase.

Absurdly true. I'm very pleased Femshep is finally getting a little acknowledgment.

Very good news, I find :) Please also remember to point out (on the back of the box) that you can play on different difficulties (if you still can, of course...)

And please also mention that you can play as male or female on the back of the regular box. Gamers today are not only young adult males, but also adult men and women who have grown up with videogames; they want to play games likes this.

Oh, you're done with me! Image IPB Please say it isn't so!!! You completely jumped the gun and had absolutely no clue what I was actually saying, hence comprehension error. I've explained my position, since you needed to be lead by the hand. And the best you can do is to make the baseless claim that I lack knowledge about "game companies." Good one! Image IPB

ManShep is more toned than your average male. No reason why FemShep can't have longer legs and bigger breasts. ManShep has a nicer smile too.

Oh, he sure does!

Isn't it unbelievably cute?

I'm just glad that Jane is getting some recognition too. It's nice to see the other face that's saving the galaxy.

Or that FemShep uses the same animations as male shep.  That was actually a problem at a few points in ME2.

Again, it's all style not substance. If you base your purchases on how the box art looks, that's your business.

Well exactly, you have just admitted box art is important for some people, so by your own admission its a key part of marketing. It doesn't matter if you dont care about box art, because you are going to buy the game anyway. But for many other people it does matter, and is therefore why it is a massive part of a marketing job

You're really not getting this, are you? After DA2, style just isn't going to cut it anymore. Style is one part, substance is another. And I've seen little to no substance. But you didn't purchase DA2, so you weren't stung like most of us were.

Box art is important and so is game content. Both are valid points. I don't think that there has been much released on game content bc it's still about a year away from release date. Bioware is going to use the time in between to slowly drizzle information about various features, especially game content.

There have been several studies showing an increase in female gamers...a growing target audience for marketers. One of the reasons RPGs are popular is bc of their customization and choice features. They generally allow you to choose the gender and customize your character which is a popular feature w/ both genders. Personally speaking, I feel more involved in a game and will spend more $ on a game where I can be a female, bc I can relate more. Many people (both men and women) I have talked to about this have expressed similar feelings. I still play games w/ strictly male leads, but I prefer games where I can choose my gender &/or customize my character.

The marketing team has more than likely seen this growing trend and wants to attract a larger crowd. Many people will either be drawn in by this type of marketing or will feel indifferent to it, which in this case does not harm the marketing teams goal...to make more $$$. I strongly believe that there is a small percentage of people out there who will not buy or try the game bc time & space was used to recognize & market  FemShep.

By including FemShep, Bioware is demonstarting that they listen to their fans and that, while all might not like this move, the majority will be a combination of people who will or will not care either way.

I couldn't care less if Fem-Shep is on the box or not. Style, not substance. I've seen this marketing strategy before, DA2. There was a good reason they went with style, the game had no substance. Now I'm seeing the same thing with ME3. This has me a little concerned. I don't consider sticking a picture on the box, which will cost them nothing anyway, listening. If that's good enough for you then you're easily pleased. Do you really think anybody will care about that if the game turns out to be a soulless shooter?

I was more or less civil with you and you had to throw an insult at me. I am "done with you" because I generally don't bother getting into it with people who want to snipe rather than speak.

Let's take a look at your initial post.

Yes, box art and awesomezzz
connected now in ME3. He should be concerned about the state of the game
itself, and "marketing" it on that; not the damn box art. Where did
they find this guy? He has to be related to someone high up in EA.

Why should he be "concerned" with the state of the game? That isn't his job. If you really knew how any company worked, not just game companies, you'd know that marketing is primarily concerned with presenting a product to the public, with making its face. Even if the game was turning out badly, he isn't going to say so and you can't expect him to say so. Marketing people are salesmen first and foremost.

Anyway, guess what box art is? So him speaking about this subject is as legitimate a marketing move as any. The so-called substance you long for was presented at E3 because it is the job of other people to demonstrate the game and talk about its features.

If you're willing to cut out the puerile behavior, I'll continue discourse with you. If not, I will no longer respond to your posts in this thread.

From what I've been seeing, you're basing this off one game DA2. While there were/are many problems w/ DA2 it's only one of Bioware's games. They took a risk w/ several things w/ DA2, and many were not sucessful, they recognize that, but Bioware has consistently said that they are willing to push the envelope in hopes of moving forward and making better and newer types of games. Like many, I would say that Bioware has a good track record for making great games. Yes, again DA2 flopped in a lot of areas, but it was one game and they have been working to fix many of the problems (the ones they can at least...can't change story arc now). Besides, the writers as well as many of members of the DA2 team are not part of the ME team. ME has put out 2 great games...their track record is good.

I think that basing what the quality of the game will be like on how much they advertise the art on the CE box this early on is bit premature. Give them a chance. I think this is getting blown way out of proportion.

Wow. femShep gets a spot on the back cover of the CE and one trailer and the world goes to hell. I'm very satisfied w/ what I've seen and heard so far w/ ME3 as opposed to DA2 (which worried me from the start). Until someone says "awesome button" I'm still on board w/ the game.

I've explained my position to you and others. With your first post to me you behaved like a pompous jackass, completely missing the point of what I was saying. So don't expect me to be courteous to you. You clearly have no understanding of what the "awesomezz" reference actually means, and Silverman and his statements becoming the poster child for everything that was wrong with DA2. You would think he might change something this time round, but no chance!  See ya!
