pretty sure its already been confirmed that origin will be the only site available to digitally download them
It's been confirmed that origin will be the only place to get the CE. The SE should still be available from other places. I hope.

I'm old school, so will never buy a digital download unless the game is ultra brilliant, and digital is the only ditribution channel for it. So far, nothing has met those requirements.

Feels sad because it was one of my most anticipated games.
And if you don't let Battlefield 3 be released on Steam... I just don't know what to do.
This is not the right way to market your product. Hope that you get what you deserve in the future.

Boxed editions someone ?!? you're paying the same goddamn price and you're having an actual copy, you can touch it, it has been made of paper, plastic and all that stuff, not only a bunch of 0's and 1's...
BOXED EDITIONS are superiours to Digital Editions because you actually PAY for something real. And if you're whining agains't those goddamn DRM, just wait a week or two and our friends at GameCopyWorld will have something for you.

I prefer to have a physical copy of everything. One of my morals beliefs is that I will never pay to download anything, ever. Not adult entertainment, not music, and not video games. I like these old-fashioned things called stores. Remember layaway? Oh now I'm really starting to show my age.
well I don't even have 20 years old and I agree with you. it is much more interresting to actually pay for something you can touch, you can open and even read. just look at The Witcher 2 box and see how much content it has ! Soundtrack (in its own box), Game guide, the game itself on two DVDs and the user manual. a World map, an enveloppe with a letter about the political background, a Papercraft and a bonus DVD (Making of, promo art, screenshots...). I felt like I paid for something when I used my interac card at Gamestop and leaved the store with this thing. and it's not even the collector edition !

As for Origin that's a laugh, I'll just suck it up and go to a store and buy the CE, I don't want to give Origin the impression they could ever in a million years compete with Steam.

I buy all my games through Steam and I really do not want another program.
You can really feel EA's frustration for not being able to compete with neither Activision's WoW and CoD and Valve's Steam
Well, you just lost a customer and I hope it hurts. Might just.. rent a copy later on.

When I fork over money for something, I want a physical product to be placed in my hands. Given that there is no real discount for buying digital compared to physical, theres no point.

i will NOT purchase anything off origin. especially since their pulling stuff off steam. i'll buy the box and manually attach it to steam if i have to.
no ones going to support a single publisher digital download service. its a horribly stupid buisness move. especially when it'll get compared to steam which is really well done with its integrated things and community.
i mean look how annoying games for windows live is.

don't expect any kind of boxed release for Magicka and Amnesia, both has been made by some independant studios that had no money before they dealed something with Steam to see their games on this platform. however it is just a little 10 dollars so what you could do is, like me, instead of using a ****ing credit card. those ''VISA Vanilla'' thing works perfectly and I'm even playing my tuitions with them because I hate credit cards.

I hope to get my hands on a physical copy of ME3 though. I'd be even happier If I could find a collector edition for a reasonable price.

i want the community support from steam.
i want to install, uninstall, reinstall and have it autopatched with a single click or two. i never want to worry about losing my disk.
i 100% hope origin fails because its such a horrible way to handle it. the reason steam is so successful is because its so convienent.
i wanna be able to chat with my friend playing call of duty while im playing mass effect 2 without minimizing the game.

They are planning to "compete" by cramming Origins down people's throats instead of actually competing with good customer service. If you can't convince people to use it, then FORCE them to if they want a digital download.
They may find many of us willing to walk away. If they wanted to corner the digital download market, they should have had the vision that Valve had with Steam... now it has many millions of concurrent users with a vast community and friend system.

Well you're missing out on a great sevice then, the best being that you can pick up some of those obscure games you might never play fo DIRT CHEAP, and I'm talking like 80% off in some cases. You don't have to screw with disks or fumble around for CD keys, Me and all my freinds can tell exactly what I'm playing and how much, I can get games recommended to me and recommend games, I can avoid games like Brink cause of the honest reviews in the forums the list goes on. Too much to mention.
I don't know how many great epic games of Supreme Commander 2 I've had cause my freinds in that game could see I was on and invited me to have a 4v4 against another great team.

What's so great about Steam? Seriously. I only use it because Valve makes me.
It "came first", apparently.
I'll agree that Origin is probably going to fail hardcore, but people taking a moral stand because they have some kind of loyalty to Steam honestly doesn' t make that much sense to me either.

I'm sorta surprised they are not doing this already. It is cheaper for the publisher to not have to create packaging for games.
