Using Google cache to find old forum content

Go to Google and search as you normally would. In this case say I want to find an Overland Map thread . I search for NWN2 Overland Map and find in the list of links "NWN2 Overland Map Supplemental Primer". Sounds perfect, but if I just click directly on it I will be redirected to the useless www.bioware.com page, so that is pointless. Instead click on the little magnifying class icon to the right of the link. This will open a Preview box which may or may nor be empty. In the left corner of the preview box will be the word "Cached". Click on "Cached" and the old webpage will be displayed based on the data in Google's cache. All is not lost.
Unfortunately this is not ideal. If the thread you are looking for has multiple pages for instance, you will not be able to use the Next link to easily switch to the next page. To find the next page you will have to return to Google and search for it. Not ideal but it beats nothing.
If anyone has any better way to find the old content please respond.

the cache will go away very rapidly. It is an after image.
I'm checking with Google on that.
Perhaps looking at one of the internet archives will have it.

The links all seem to go to a page that just says that the Wayback Machine hasn't captured that page. Not sure how you would search for anything using this either. Does it support searching within the pages?

The archive is about the only thing that will have such content eventually.
( just be glad we aren't focused on baldur's gate )

Many of us in the community (myself included) were upset and jumped to the conclusion that Bioware intentionally shut those forums down without warning because we suspected that they would do just that some day. It's not that we weren't justified in thinking that, but we should take BioWare's seriousness in responding to this to heart.

BioWare has already explained that the un-announced shut-down of the Legacy forums was a necessary response to hackers breaching security there. They've sinced updated the community about their plans to bring the Legacy forums back in a secure way.

Perhaps I'm cynical, but I think we've seen the last of the old NWN2 forums. I will be very surprised if they reappear. This event may have been required by security, but I doubt they will spend the money to recover something in a secure way that they didn't really want to keep going in the first place.
I will be very glad if I am mistaken.
