I agree. I have to say I am a fan of movies with non-happy endings. I grew up with Disney movies and liked them, but over time have grown tired of just happy endings for all. Sure I want the galaxy saved, but I also want something bittersweet. That's why I did not let my human noble female warden to marry Alistair. ^^
But I do want an option where my Shepard has the option to die for the galaxy including her love. That, with some tears on my Shepard and her love's cheeks, would be pretty sweet. For an option. I also want the happy ending of going into the sunset, too. ^^

Not if it is the only ending. I want a chance to save Shepard, the crew and the galaxy, even if the chance is small.
