I think it would be pointless. It would also make the game look less like an actual game, just a dating simulator.

No more than it already is.

So do we need to go on adding to it?

and here I think is the biggest problem with old LI's becoming BI. While fan A only wants Kaidan and say Joker to be BI, fan B just wants thane and  Tali to be BI and so on and so on. No one is "more right" than the other because none of these characters have shown any tendencies IMO so you might as well pick two names out of a hat because we aren't basing this on thier past behaviour. So if we only want a realistic few that turns Bi oir reveals they are BI (like most people have said) who gets chosen? How is it chosen? What makes one character a better candidate than the other?

*edit*

I beileve jack was the only want to mention a past relationship with a woman so that's the only one I can think of, but that was during her days of being used by people so I don't know if it was something she wanted or not.

That's a very good point. Everyone has favourites. In my case, I tend to see more probable the humans being bi than the aliens (except for the asari, of course). On the contrary, other people see more probable the aliens being bi, because they have already gone for another specie. If Bioware made everyone bisexual, we all agree that wouldn't be too plausible. If they only choose certain characters (dunno, Kaidan and Thane as bi, for example), Jacob and Garrus fans would complain. That makes easier the choice of s/s as new ones.

But, as I said before, we're not going to change our minds, each one has an opinion about this and no one is "more right" than others.

It could be easily said that Kaidan showed 'tendencies' on Horizon, with that "Losing you was like losing a limb...! Why didn't you call me?!?!?" dumped-lover-like whining on Horizon.

I’m not entirely sure what sort of realistic background story goes hand in hand with bisexuality/homosexuality.  There really isn’t a reason why people prefer girls over boys and vice versa.  It’s a hard wired thing and doesn’t need a lengthy story on why they’re that way.  They just are.

I would really hate to see a coming out story,  they tend to be real downers.  Sure,  it’s sweet to hear “I’ve never done this before.”  It’s a line uttered many more times than it’s actually true,  but,  the ramifications outside of the bedroom can be terrible amongst family and friends…  and I hope by time ME takes place people will just stop caring about who people choose to bed.

I just want a few decent romances with some meat to them,  and MORE, MORE, MORE character dialogue for everyone not just romanancable characters.

Oh... hehe I didn't really mean any beedroom story. More like having a game actually tackle the coming out story issues... Though you say they tend to be real downers.

Would just be nice to have a game try to juggle some real issues for once... More than I meant background story. Weren't that good of describing it.

I'm probably going to be lynched for this,  but,  I don't want a game to try and handle this particular issue.  Not yet at least,  give the people what they want but don't try to make it a social commentary.

If the writing has any subtly whatsoever, the op's premise won't be a concern.

Garrus: "Hey shep, I've been meaning to tell you something. Been on my mind for a while now."

Shepard: "Uh, not right now Garrus. I've got some calibrations to check."

Problem solved.  :)

Not to nitpick, but Garrus really isn't into femshep because of sexuality. In fact it always confused me that maleshep can't romance Garrus as well due to how Garrus' romance works.

I know I said I would stay out of this thread, but I created a poll to get a feel for where the community is at regarding same-sex implementation, you may view it here, and please vote!

I said no more than it already is,  if you haven't noticed characterization and romance seems to be the main draw to bioware games.  They skirt the line and I think having clear and concise answers to a characters sexuality would be useful...  particularly if it was as simple as the main character asking.  Hell,  I don't mind characters getting shot down but it would be nice to simply express an interest.

In every sense of the word he would be able to. But BioWare decided not to include "same sex" relationships.

Heh not lynching but curious as to why not?

Well it would be surprising if it really happened though. Theres an abundance of other issues that could require a certain bit of "commentary" too...

People who think Bioware games are even remotely close to dating simulators have never, EVER played one.

Bioware has had romances in their games for a long time now. The romances have only evolved since then, and while not a focus they are definately part of the character interaction experience that Bioware provides.

I'd hate it if all the characters were interested in same-sex relationships. After the first two games it would seem contrived. At the same time I hope there's at least one character introduced that's only interested in same-sex relationships.

Why is it "After the first two games?"  what makes three that magically magical number?  I'm extremely curious... and have way to much time on my hands today.

Also, it's a long ways away before anyone gets a strictly gay/lesbian romance.  Of course,  their is nothing stopping a bi character seem like they are in fact playing for only one team.  It happens in real life so why not a game?

i'm fine with a few returning characters being bi, as long as it's realised in a believable way. However having all the returning LIs turning out to be bi after absolutely no indication they were in either of the first two games (except maybe Mordin) would be contrived and silly.

Mordin isn't BI. Salarians have none of the hormones or emotions that would lead to relationships as such unless an Asari is involved. In fact he says that himself when you talk to him. All he was saying is that if he DID have such feelings, shep would be his first choice.

In fact Bioware did a pretty good job in that regard to sexuality and biology.

Again it's your interpretation, to me you might as well have said Jacob or thane because I see them all as equally in the running for being chosen because another person can tell you how easily they can see thane being into malshep too.
Your “just a few characters” is not the same as the other person’s “just a few characters” and added together everyone IS asking for the whole crew to be bi in a sense.  No one has more” evidence” than the other for their favourite to be bi because the argument has been that past behaviour doesn’t count as confirmation “just because they only slept with and talked about female/male lovers doesn’t make them straight”

Mostly because I’m not yet sure video games are a good platform to use people aren‘t ready to take it seriously.  I do realize that perhaps by delving into intense issues might change that perception but I’m still not sure if if the world is ready for a game that tries to tackle those sorts of issues particularly in a sci-fi setting where truth be told I hope homosexuality isn’t a big ticket issue anymore.

Also  I play games to relax,  life typically has enough stress that I don’t want to be preached at in my favorite form of escapism (Yes,  I used the word.)  In DAO I had to fight through finishing the city elf origin because sexual assault is involved.  Call me what you will,  but,  I want to smile when I’m playing games…

And added together straight players want every single NPC in the universe as LI. Let's trust in BW will make good decision who to chose. You can never make 100% of the fanbase happy anyway.

DA might not have been the game for you then mate. The whole game world was designed after (if admittadely not displayed as well) a world of grey. Slavery, oppression, murder, slaughter, rape, its all in there. Everyone has something that makes them smile that isn't the same as others.

For example, I am a major fan of saints row. I get a stupid grin whenever I play that game.

I'm typically fine with any game until sexual assault is brought into the mix,  I've been desentized to violence and the like...  but that particular aspect of the game really pushes my buttons.  I enjoyed the game, and once I got over that the only other particular hurtle I had was not crying for poor Hespith...

Maybe they could adopt a similar system like Dragon Age 2? You know a message choice with a heart on it to signify that it is a romantic option/line.

Yeah, something like this would be a good way to do it.  Rather then stumbling blindly into a romance you don't want in the game.

I hated the whole message images that took me out of the gameplay of that series faster then a darkspawn in a tutu would. Don't implement that BW just do the romance bracket in the upper left portion of the screen that will allow people who click it to open up a new wheel like investigate does and they can do all romance, flirt, and love options there.
