As a brief aside, what is a bromance? I've heard the term thrown around a lot, but, outside of "Two guys being guys" it seems rather vague to me.

Basically, two people who are very fond of each other, makes jokes, drink beer, do stuff together. Best friends is the closest term I can use to describe it, but a Bromance is just so much... more.

Bromances are like having a brother "of the spirit". It's a fraternal thing. You're best buds. You drink, you talk, you play games. At the most extremes, it's like being a couple without any...romantic(?) overtones.

Oh, gawd, if people struggle with explaining it without going "it's like being a couple, but..." would it be so weird if Garrus, an alien that may or may not know about the bromance-phenomenon mistook it for a sexual advance, or an actual coupling?
Personally, I'd find it hilarious if Garrus was all "Wait... are you coming on to me?"

"What? No! I was just asking if you wanted to come over to my cabin. You know, to play video games and watch sports!"

"Oh. I just thought... so, just a friendly visit?"

"Yes! What - you thought I was... oh. Oh."

"Yeah, just the way you've been acting... and stuff."

Cue awkward silence.

LOL! That would be so epic.

That actually be a great way for Bioware to use a transition from friendship to romance....

Except the fact that I hate him going "calibrations" on me. There is so few dialogs with Garrus as a male. With Thane I got a lot, he tells me about his past. With Garrus, he is just to busy.

Lack of dialogue outside of romance is more a problem with Mass Effect in general than a problem with s/s content. Both Dragon Age games had s/s content, but both also had a huge ammmount of dialogue outside of romance as well.

Now I don't mind it that you guys wanna move in with garrus, get him drunk and play couple with him without romance but in a "bromance" (airquotes) but I just wan't more friend options...

Dr Bashir and Chief O'Brien is my favourite bromance. Does a Garrus/FemShep friendship count as a bromance if Shep is a lesbian?

Bioware varies the PC's approach to romancing a companion the way people differ and approach others in real life. I don't really see this as an issue.

FemShep could and probably does get that line just as much. You'd get a similar line with Jacob.

FemShep: "I wanna know more about you!"

Jacob: "Already? I'm not really big on these talks, Commander!"

Of course, others do blow you off as well - not just because you try to make a pass!

"Got a minute, Miranda?"

Likewise, dialogue to say - "Not now!"

Of course, the Paragade scale might tie into this because you have to be uber-Paragon to get romanced (ach, btw) Yet, to constantly ask to talk romance, would seem like Shep was pestering his/her interests.

Note: Many a time the deeper conversations happen when they're upset about something and after you resolve (or help them to) their issue. Garrus talks to you explain his situation with Sadonis and after you help him deal with it.
