I keep seeing this.

Why is it such a big deal?

Does the for the love thread get trolled 24/7 or something?

Are you kidding?

Why in the world do you guys troll threads that are exressing concerns over how S/S romances and romances in general will happen? I agree the thread title is silly but really the thread has been pretty civil IMO.

Because it is invariably founded on an insidious type of mentality that is as impeditive to tolerance and equality as any plainly violent attitude.

I'm used to ME as a straight game. I don't want it to suddenly and unintentially to colorize, if you know what I mean. that would make me reload the save.

:/

I don't know how to react to that.

Colorize?

Straight game?

Can't a bisexual man love a woman? Not to mention Rahna was integral part of the Vyrnnus story. It wasn't like he started talking about her to prove anything "Yo Shep! I'm gonna now talk about one of my teenage crushes to you 'cause ya know I'm such a straight playa playa and had a crush on a girl!". Pretty much all bisexual men have history with women to talk about.

Zevran was very much in love with a girl named Rinna, for example.  Not the best example in the world, I admit, but he also had a girl that was very important to him in his past.

He is basically saying he doesnt want another DAII where Anders is suddenly homosexual and you are forced to get negative points because Anders seems interested after 2 conversations. I agree. No rewriting the sexuality of pre established characters. I need that banner. Seen it somewhere.

Agreed just like people blew up on a anon for  FO4 meme who requested to have a gay character made straight for their request we don't want social cued and end game portrayed straight characters turning Bi for 3. S

ome people claim so and so was retconed for 2 as a LI because they didn't say so in ME but that's not a retcon that's a natural progression what is a retcon is so and so is portrayed as straight in 2 and goes bi or full gay for 3 or so and so was portrayed as straight in ME and goes bi or gay for 3. MShep's been retconned too he was said ME - ME2 by BW not to be gay then in 3 he can be.

So to to cut this short:

No to past LI crewmates becoming bi or gay for 3

Yes to brand new crewmen like Vega being bi or gay for 3.

I will say this though as long as the way I view a character in there sexuality stays the same I really don't care. I think that's a fair request considering people want to have certain characters be the way they see them.

What stereotypes have I used besides NONE?

Perhaps the word stereotypes was inaccurate but the overall point stands.

Your apparent belief that sexuality is central to who and what a person is is erroneous; maybe I am just misunderstanding.
Your sexuality doesnt change who you are. It doesnt change who I am. It doesnt change who anyone is.

Personality are partly genetic and partly learned during early childhood.

By the time you are old enough for sexuality to become a factor (either way) the parts of yourself that make you, you are pretty much set.

Thats my point.

I don't believe that it is completely central, I believe that is a part of what makes someone. Just not central.

Bingo. Majority of the characters in ME never specify their sexual orientation.

Ant does that mean that in ME3 they'll all turn into bi? That feesl too imposed, too... unnatural?

They could use the DA2 system where "romantic" responses are made clear with a heart (something I sometimes wish DAO had, because had I known I was flirting with Leliana i wouldn't have been met with her screaming CHEATER at me later in the game during my romance with Alister)
I'll also admit, I was pretty put off when Thane got all "wouldn't you like to remember feeling a tongue in your mouth" just like hey, you know whats great NOT HAVING THIS CONVERSATION.
But anyways, keep in mind that current characters may very well NOT be the s/s romances unless it was previously implied or could be made to work out of current material. Pretty sure, or at leat I'm hoping that not everyone is suddenly PC sexual, only because it's a little silly but still, I wouldnt be so bothered by it that it would ruin my gaming experience.

Ex-act-ly. Either take the romance path or not. It really shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that they don't have one. And making everyone bisexual it's not realistic, because that would mean everyone can have everyone. It's a game, I know, but in real life we cannot romance everyone :)

Then why the hell do you look at them? If you feel the best way to handle something you don't agree with is to troll then you probably need to grow up. People aren't always going to agree with something you do/want deal with it.

They'll always be the same character.  Just don't hit on them, obviously.

And I'm not sure what we're arguing about quite yet -- we don't even know who the s/s options even are, only that that there will be s/s options.

I'm not sure you're familiar with the definition of troll. Nerd rage, though, you've got that down.

We haven't met people of other species yet :P I'm sure we couldn't reproduce with them, but romancing is different ;)

So, back on topic, I think we all agree in the need of clear romancing options (not only s/s).

But there are other species in the Mass Effect world.  So reality really can't be applied here.

Garrus and Tali showed no previous interest in humans or Shepard in ME1.  By that logic, shouldn't they have not been romanceable in ME2?

As long as you can "coax" the same background information/story out of a person without having it set a silly romance flag I'm good.

@big bad wolf: No other species in life? I head something about new zealanders and sheep... *lol*

+1 if with past LI can be possible to start a new relationship, it will automatically affect those wich already exist, and better to make a good end of story about LI, than start a new one

I think you are mixing sex with a relationship. People can have a relationship without having sex.

How so? How would Ashley being available as s/s romance option in ME3 change what has already happened in the straight relationship with ManShep in ME1 and ME2? Also, any Garrus and/or Tali fan who is against old characters becoming LIs (of any kind) is simply a hypocrite.
