I think it is a pretty safe bet that Mass Effect 3 will not be on Steam. You just have to look at the fact EA are now pulling games off Steam and making them Origin "exclusive" and they are refusing to release games such as Alice and Battlefield 3 on Steam.

Realistically I cannot see ME 3 appearing on steam. I have to be honest this is the most moronic business decision I have ever seen. It won't get me using Origin in fact it has the exact opposite effect of actually making me never want to touch Origin. Still it's EA's stuff and they obviously don't like making money they may as well stop making PC games if this is their attitude because they aren't going to sell many with it being Origin "exclusive".

Agreed. Instead of doing their best to offer a better deal than Steam, they basically screwed themselves up. And you can bet they'll complain about PC sales later and blame it all on piracy.

There is one thing as well that makes me nervous. Why do we already know that SWTOR and BF3 are not coming on Steam, but we don't know the same about ME3?

also forcing people to use origins isnt the way to do it. it'd make people resent it and push them away.

you make them want to use origin by actually making it as functional as steam. maybe being sleezy and putting pre-order bonus stuff if you get it on origin rather than steam. that way its the customers choice. if its their choice they'll likely come back again. forcing them makes them hate the service out of spite.

on that note.. can anyone explain the difference between Origin and the EA store to me? This sounds just like another EA store and lord knows the first EA store was just garbage and a massive flop so why would this be any different?

It's just the EA downloader renamed "Origin" and given a few bloat ware features that run like crap basically.

That's not necessarily a strong indicator. Those games have already passed their major sales period; the loss of further sales will be minor. But if ME3 doesn't launch on steam then loss of sales would be more considerable. Certainly not crippling, but noticable.

I think it's a safe bet that if ME3 does launch on steam then it will be pulled shortly afterwards, once the initial heavy sales period is over. But that doesn't mean it won't ever be on steam. We'll have to wait and see.

the only one confirmed not to be on steam is SWTOR, but that could because it uses origin as its MMO launcher.

its not confirmed for BF3 or ME3, its just fearful speculation.

I dunno. Forcing people to use Steam to play HL2 worked out pretty well for Valve, even in spite of the fact that they fooked it up and half the players couldn't play.

And everybody luuurves Vavle.

Fortunately Battlefield 3 and SWKOR are up first and well before ME3's release. There is plenty of time for EA to correct their mistake(s) before March 2012. When they force some nasty DRM or whatever on their customers, I'll buy ME3 to support Bioware but download a cracked version to be installed on my pc.

thats only because it was the first one to do it and because of the amount of effort and attention they put into steam.

do you really think EA is going to make origin steam quality?

its like WoW being the first mainstream MMO, they streamlined it to make it have mass appeal. now every other MMO is trying to do so and utterly failing, crashing against WoW's giant wall rather than innovating and improving they just copy. its what EA is doing now and it wont work.
