Edited for a better idea.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and i thought it might be cool if there were different dialogue team mates like different dialogue depending on your relationship with them. I think what I'm trying to say is this:

Use paragon choices when interacting with character = character is more positive towards Shepard

Use renegade style choices when interacting with character = character is more negative towards Shepard

What do you think on this idea?

Like Dragon Age 2? Why does Mass Effect need more useless stats and more bias on moral choices?

I think it's more realistic. People are more likely to help their team if they care for them. And they will focus on themselves more if they don't feel anything for them.

Yeah but once you attach a bar to that you automatically feel an urge of thinking how you can optimize it. ME is also not a 'stat optimizing' game, and usually the stats that you choose have a direct effect on your gamestyle.

I just think it's more tasteful to change their reactions to you if anything.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and i thought it might be cool if there were special things you get with tema mates like powers, upgrading abilities, etc. depending on your relationship with them. I think what I'm trying to say is this:

Use paragon choices when interacting with character = character focusing on helping the team and having a new ability, power etc. that helps.

Use renegade style choices when interacting = character focuses on his/her self and gets things that increase that help them and them only.

That's interesting. I not too sure about the new abilities though. However, I would like to see more valuable dialogue. Waiting to get to a certain area like talking to Jack on Illium was a good feature but I'd rather see more interaction between the characters. Not just on the ship but in the world in general.

The Rene/Para styles are some good choices though. (Just without the additional powers)
Like you said, the Para choice would be for the sake of the team. The Rene choice would have them unleashing hell. Great idea. If it isn't too late, let someone read this and give it an effort.

My being a renegade has nothing to do with how much I value my team.

But it could affect teamwork.

Your average drill sargeant could be considered a hard arsed renegade, but look at the teamwork they instill into their troops.

That only happens if everyone is a soldier. Some members of the team are not soldiers.

Another point is that it could totally clash with the Renegade/Paragon system (if it's similar to ME2).

It's not that hard, although more costly, to record another dialogue for characters depending on whether they like you or not. We've seen it already in ME2 to some extent, and DA2 did something similar with Hawke.

It was rather silly to treat Miranda like a complete garbage the entire game and having her respond to you the same way. I just don't think combat bonuses is a good idea. :)

Now that I think about it, I'm not buying into the combat bonuses myself. I think I'll change the title of the thread.

The overwhelming majority of them are. There are four characters who would not potentially react unwell towards a renegadish drill sergeant:

Liara
Samara/Morinth
Jack
Kasumi

Everyone else comes from a military or paramilitary background and understands the concept of teamwork.

If Sheppard is a leader and charismatic as he supposed to be why are characters reacting to him as if they are his equal?

I liked the first mass effect and the KNOR. The other characters would change their beliefs over time based on his actions and dialogue.

That's the mark of a truly great leader (and why Dragon age II was such an epic fail). IE Hitler (renegade), Martin Luther King JR (paragon).
