 I have been wondering about this for a long time, since my main Shep hasn't romanced anyone in ME or ME2 (I felt none of them fit his character). So, I patiently waited for news. After a long time, ME3 is announced and Casey tweets that there will be no new romance options in ME3. Then, some days pass, and I read somewhere (don't remember where) that this was a misunderstanding, and ME3 HAS new LIs.
  As you can probably understand, I am quite anxious about confimation on whether or not we will enjoy new LIs .
  If, by any chance, someone knows something more than what I know or a BioWare employee feels like clarifying, then by all means, do so. Additionaly, it would be awesome to know the race of the possible new female LI. My main Shep won't settle for anything nonhuman, what can I say?!

There is guaranteed to be at least one "new" LI, i.e. a former LI now available to the opposite gender shepard they were available for before, or a brand new LI for a same gendered romance.

Beyond that it gets kinda complicated. They've said no new LIs, new LIs, and everything in between. My best guess is that one minor character will be introduced as a kelly esque romance and that'll be all.

Casey's tweets are a bit confusing. No one know if by new LIs he means entirely new characters, or old characters that weren't LIs (Chakwas, Joker), or old LIs that are "new" in the sense they can be romanced by same-sex Shepard now. No one's sure at this point.

Well in this case, the OP explained it quite well. He's yet to find the right LI that would fit his main Shepard, and as such, is interested if new characters will be LIs.

At least I know that I am not the only one who is confused with Casey's tweets...

Whatever the case, if anyone knows anything more, I would desperately LOVE to know.
