Some people downright hate this game, but is that because you think the game is actually bad or are you just disappointed it wasn't another origins?

I am not at all pleased with many of the choices in this game - I also feel that there is no focused reason in this game. In DAO, although my Warden had to run around the countryside, the purpose was clear - we have to get rid of the darkspawn and ultimately the Archedemon. It isn't clear what purpose the quests in DA2 are attempting to resolve.

Being an errand boy wasn't what I had in mind when I heard "Rise to power by any means necessary" so yes, I am definitely more on the disappointed side...

I played through 3 times with 3 classes with male and female. I was looking for some decisions to make a significant difference. The ending was just the same ole. It didn't differ much from each playthrough. The recycled locations were just a real bummer. I hope they can at least produce some story oriented DLC that takes you somewhere new. Hopefully free for all the pissed off people to get something. I also didn't like the way my family members were handled.

I'm in a bit disappointment with the game than consider it the bad one. The lack of variety of the maps, the lack of the possible ending is the 2 things that make me disappointed most in the game.

What's your definition of "bad" in this instance?

If you mean that it was a bug-ridden mess that was totally unplayable or no fun at all to play then no, it wasn't bad.

Other than that, I'd say it was bad.

It's a cash grab made in too little time on too small a budget.

It's a "ROLE-playing" game made by and for people who don't like to role-play.

Too much effort apparently ...

That's my OPINION and I stand by it.

Both. They simply should not have changed the series. If you don't like football you don't change the rules you go try a different sport.

disappointed, was expecting more over a 10 yr period nothing you did in act1 effected anything in act 3, the romances weren't done well ( flirt,sex and I like you no build up no romance ) also didn't like how they handled they family after act 1 that was it till act 3 at the end. I thought act 3 dragged the game down even if you side with the mages your fighting blood mages while trying to get to the gallows. A lot of things were done well but it was missing to much.

I see Bebop50 that you like Cowboy Bebop! That is a fantastic anime show! One of my favorites...I liked Ed the best.

Disappointed 1 - no choice or consequences of choices 2 - romances were poorly done ( flirt, sex, then I like you ) no build up no romance 3 - family when after act 1 that it till 3 ( don't get me started on the mom killing ) 4 - act 3 dragged everything down and if I sided with the mages why am I forced to fight though blood mages to get to the gallows. Could have been a great game not just a good one

NGE is an interesting show and does far more with its giant robot battles than I thought possible, but it's only 'the best' if you think giant robot battles is the height of anime as a medium.

Can you compare it to something like Grave of the Fireflies?

Though giant robot battles were cool I was praising the show more for it's "mind****" reputation. I never watched Grave of the Fireflies, what's it about?

I'd say it's lot of "disappointment" with some good deal of "bad" (though some deal of "good" too).
I'm pretty sure it would have been much better received if it hasn't been the follow-up of DAO, but it also have lots of failure on its own "merit".

The game was not bad just disappointing, the disappointment had nothing to do with DAO.
 
You did not ask for reasons so i will not state any.

It was disappointing in a sense, but on the other hand I was totally expecting Dragon Effect rather than Origins 2 (and of course any idea of spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate was out the window) based on how they were marketing the game. I was disappointed in the sense that I was expecting a Mass Effect quality Dragon Effect...instead quality seems to have gone out the window as well, in exchange for what I think any reasonable person would consider bad design decisions that it's amazing ever even got past the brainstorming stage of development.
