I was playing ME1 again recently and I came to Feros. If anyone remembers you encounter Shiala there, an asari that had been indoctrinated by Sovreign. Saren had given her to the Thorian in exchange for the Prothean information and just left her for potential thrallhood.

After you kill the Thorian you encounter the real, non-cloned Shiala. You find out from her that she is no longer indoctrinated! It seems a side-effect of being near or controlled by the Thorian is that you are potentially cured by Reaper indoctrination.

Anyone else thinks that this could have implications for ME3?

Not likely. The only reason Shiala got out was because the Thorian's control overrode indoctrination. Since the Thorian's dead...or at least at the bottom of a very large hole...that's not going to come into play.

Considering the Thorian is a bit dead, it might be a long shot. It is interesting how it's the only documented example of indoctrination being reversed though.

Well the main nerve cluster was dead, but apparently there were still miles left of the thing. If they could replicate the spores without the bad effects it could be potential treatment and/or a way to ensure that people aren't secretly indoctrinated Reaper spies. *puts on tinfoil hat*

Interesting idea. However, even if the spores were replicated, how could they be controlled? They'd probably be inert unless there was an organism (i.e. the Thorian) producing them.

Wasn't it a constant consumption of whiskey and cigarettes?

ExoGeni is studying it's corpse and its spores....so I wouldn't be so sure of that.

I wrapped the Thorian in a whole lotta tin foil, slapped it on the Normandy drive core and served it up with plenty of green onions, sour cream and bacon bits. Best damn baked tater you ever saw.

You should definitely augment your body with Reaper technology to help combat Indoctrination. After all look at Saren, The Illusive Man, Commander Shepard! Nothing bad happened to him!

Shepard almost convinced Saren to stop working for the Reapers, but due to the implants he kills himself. So the way to cure it is to have Shepard give them a good talking to! Shepard should really get into counseling when the Reapers are dealt with.

Yes, I can see it now -- Doctor Shepard's practice. The most famous human and a spectre, now a shrink!

And lets not forget we can now stab them with our omni-blade.

A cure to indoctrination is unlikely to appear.

However, a protective measure might materialize out of research of the Collector base if you kept it.

I don't know for sure, but I think we just need to ask some of the Salarians on Virmire about which treatments work.

Oh wait...

Some didn't talk to Shiala in ME2......That conversation hints that the Thorian is still alive.

Um, no, it doesn't. The conversations hints, and by 'hints' I mean 'states explicitly', that the Thorian is dead, but the spores it released in order to control the colonists is still present and need to be extracted in order to alleviate the head aches/being green problems.
