Indeed, Rana Thanoptis will appear one way or another in Mass Effect 3. I remember one of my squaddies(Garrus?) saying that letting her go once again will bite us in the ass one day. So I don't see why she couldn't return in a huskified form. It would be so awesome to see her as a Reaper Asari - Rana Thanoptis the Banshee, literally biting Shepard in the ass!
