Is there anything official concerning gamepad support for the PC version? Because I'm ready to start a defamation campaign on the internet if they can't finally hire a single competent coder capable of inserting an "if" variable where it belongs.

Irrelevant since 99% of PC players wouldn't dream of playing with a controller so it doesn't really matter.

I'd be more inclined to play on the PC if there was a gamepad option. Yes, I know hardcore players think it's better with wasd and whatnot, and I do game on the PC, but I prefer a controller.

I've only played one game on the PC with a console controller: Transformers War for Cybertron. And that's only because the PC controls were not tuned to be used for PC.

Not with the witcher 2. The game is much more fluid on a gamepad.

Troll much?
You havent registered your game on the forum, so that means you are either a pirate, or too cowardly to put your money where your mouth is. Therefore, your opinion is irrelevant.
Dont get me started on your competance if you need a controller for PC gaming.

Or he just bought a used copy. It does happen.

And wanting to use a controller =/= some sort of gaming incompetence. I grew up on a steady diet of PC, console, and arcade games, and depending on the game, I prefer different mediums to play it on. I dislike playing shooters on the PC, just out of personal preference, but if I could use the gamepad, I would, since that would also give me access to mods.

Seriously, it's just preference/habit. No one way of playing is better than the other.

I too grew up on a mixture of gaming devices, and for Doom, Duke3d, Quake and a lot of the early shooters I relied heavily on a Wingman Warrior joystick (pic here). When it broke down, I was "forced" to use the keyboard and mouse combo. I went out and bought a Panther XL, but couldnt get the same precision as i could with keybvoard and mouse.
I stand by my comment about his opinion being worthless, even if he did buy the game second hand. Buying it second hand means he has not contributed toweards the cost and development of the game, or of future games. Second hand game purchases only line the pocket of the second hand dealer, and provide no benefit towards the developer or publisher.

Well ya I don't play my racing games or fighting games with a keyboard and mouse, but Mass Effect where I have 0-9 to use and a mouse for aiming.

There! My mark of shame - I bought Dragon Crap 2.

Now, back to the matter at hand. The very notion of releasing a console port to the PC without gamepad support is ridiculous. It's shameful, it's unprofessional and an insult to customers. The console interface is already in the game files, the ini file contains gamepad button mapping, WHY THE F*CK NOT GO ALL THE WAY? Especially since "the way" is a single tiny step requiring but a moment of competence.

As a minority I'll stand up and shout then. I far prefer a joypad to M&K, and couldn't give a f*ck what anyone else thinks. It's my preference. I use emulation software to convert Joypad movements into K&M input so I can use a joypad for most of my PC games. For older games that's acceptable. But we now live in an age where most games are multiplatform, and options are extremely important.

It's not that much work to add controller support, even if just the Official 360 Pad. It really wouldn't effect anyone who does prefer K&M, so where's the problem?

I'll throw in a vote for controller support. For some FPSs and RTS games I definitely prefer M&K, but overall I like the comfort of the controller and use it as much as possible. I work on a PC at my job and when I come home to relax with a game, the last thing I want is to be hunched over my keyboard and mouse again. I don't get why some devs like Bioware remove it from their PC ports after they spend all that time creating an interface suited to the 360 controller.

You want controller support? Here's an idea. Do what I did when you fell out with PC gaming - buy an Xbox.

you'd be surprised how popular gamepads are for PC gamers.

the power of the PC with the ease of the controller. set it up so its going to your TV and bam, its like you're playing a super powerful xbox

FPS Games released on consoles have their difficulty designed with retarded one-eyed amputees in mind, so using conventional PC peripherals actually means giving yourself an edge.

Still waiting for that official gamepad support confirmation. Even Skyrim is doing it this time around.

I think adding gamepad support for shooters is pointless. Nobody would use it, all PC gamers are used to keyboard and mouse. (I still don't understand how you console people play shooters with a controller.)

For action games like AC and POP, fighting games, racing games - sure, I think gamepad support works fine. Even encouraged. I love playing AC on PC with a gamepad. The keyboard setup breaks my fingers. But for shooters? Pointless.

"But then again it's just my opinion, no need to go spreading around."

Yup. People have somehow forgotten that gamings biggest plus is customization. Yet some would rather limit that...

I want gamepad support on PC SO MUCH. I do not like sitting at the table and stupidly clicking on enemies, but... I had no xbox while Mass Effect 1 released, so i played it on pc. Mass Effect 2 was played on pc with imported savegames, and i do not want to generate saves fo ME3 for ps3 console, which i have - i want to play story with my savegames, on pc, while sitting on my lovely sofa ;)

Bioware says that it all because of "different" power_wheel/tactic_screen, but it's not a big deal to change them ingame depending of what controller player uses (for example, i saw that on leekd Deus Ex version).

And not 99% of PC gamers uses keyboard - much less. Just look over the internet for posts where thousands of gamers are dissapointed by no_gamepad_support or how many tried use some gamepad modification or xpadder twiks. Mass Effect most awesome game at nowadays, but so tiny detail as gamepad support, could make it even better!

I like the idea of a controller support, it makes the moves easier the game runs fluid.
Programming the gamepad for ME1 & ME2 was a pain, so I support this 100%

Same. I want to play on PC and I have it, but I hate playing with a mouse! If there was a gamepad option I play on PC instead, but Bioware is the only stupid company out there with no support for a gamepad. I felt like I wasted my money when I bought it, thinking like 99% of the games on PC, it would have the option to use a gamepad.... ME2 should have it... ME3 better or Im not getting it.

Ever try playing Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat on a keyboard? Ironically, I use my gamepad for emulated SNES games
