Preston looking at ME3 data: RPG? No no no...we must start all over. *deletes*

And thus Modern Warfare 3 emerges.

So Dragon Age 3 is coming earlier than expected?

I kid, I kid.

Indeed, Christina, you will be missed. However, note that as far as I know, Preston Watamuniuk held a superior position to her in the company.

Do note that he and Casey Hudson worked on Knights of the Old Republic together.

I'm surprised there are no "EA MADE CHRISTINA LEAVE TO DUMB DOWN ME3" threads.

Also names of Cerberus enemy types so far...

Adding them now.

Ok im going to put this out there because it bugging me a bit.

The OP is a scrolling nightmare and theres a lot of stuff in it which doesnt need to be there.

Im sure im not alone in wanting to just come into this thread and see whats new and updated.  Instead I have to scroll through a lots of pointless info such as   "8th June: One new screenshot added to the gallery, an HD of an earlier one as well" and other tiny updates at the top of the news sections which really isnt news.   Not to mention the fact its very image heavy.

Then theres old news which is kind of irrelevant such as "ME3 was fully playable during Christmas 2010 (Possible 'Hardening' development stage? (4/5)" and "Rumour: Mass Effect 3 to support Kinect?" which is no longer a rumour.

I see your point, but your post is conflicting at best.

How will you know what's new and what's not new if I don't have a changelog?

Anyway, I'll move anything from previous weeks to the news blog, something that I should have done for some time already. Placing them on top won't work, unfortunately. We want to inform readers as to what has changed and when that has happenned.

Additionally wasnt the last thread locked because of lots of speculation and rumours and theres a large section based entirely on it?!  I just want to see the facts when im coming into a "known features" thread.

Not at all.

Anyway im just trying to help out.   I would like to see less rumour and conjecture and stick with known facts. Anything new just place at the top and highlight red for example until something else comes along.

Of course if im alone in thinking this I will just stay quiet and apologise right now  [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Sorry,

a. The rumours are here to stay. They are called rumours, after all, you don't need to pay them attention. However, from now on, we will be restricting them to "popular conclusions" from "popular rumours"

b. Colours are a no go. The OP breaks enough as it is. Colour tags would break the OP every time a new feature is added.

I hope we get some new info then

Thank you, I will add a new event post in the following weeks.

So, what exactly did I miss?

There you go. The OP should be cleaner and up to date now, if you have any suggestions to make it better feel free to post them.

So it looks like Cerberus troops will be the mercs of ME3. That's okay, I just the hope the other 60% doesn't consist of husks and mechs.

Doubtful, expect Rogue STG and indoctrinated Asari Commandos.

I think husks have the potential to be a lot more creative. If the word husk is used to describe any species that has been burned out and converted to a reaper footsoldier, I would expect  the bioware devs to be a bit creative with it. Asari husks could be ugly broodmother like monstrosities that spam warps. Turian husks could have wings shoot  viscious spikes. Batarian husks could breath out acidic gas. Volus husks could be rotund ball like creatures that bounce towards you and explode etc etc

Is voice command limited to Kinetic only or can I just plug in my 360 headset and order w/o kinetic?

It wouldn't be a cheap and dirty gimmick to shove that useless Kinect down our throats if they did the sensible thing and just let you simply use a headset now would it?

I'm sure there will be heaping piles of BS about how "Kinect is the only possible way to impliment this feature... for some reason"

A female Cerberus operative that you'll face in the game, will be one of the most elite troops, but not a boss or a unique character.

Kelly?

... Kelly is a unique character.

Or do think they've cloned Kelly. I mean, not to be rude, but do you know what "unique" means? It's means there's only one of it. Like Kelly. Or you. Or me.

So, no, it's a generic enemy type, not a specific individual.

Probably the Cerberus equivilent of a Geth Prime - sparsely occuring, but hard to kill.

my interpretation was, someone in shepard's circle is going to assassinate him and it wont be a new character like kaileng. not gameplay mechanics.

Knights of the Old Republic had awful combat.  I'm disappointed that Christina is leaving, as I feel she did a fantastic job with the combat in ME2.  I don't know enough about Bioware's game development process to know what her departure will mean, though.  So I will remain optimistic about ME3's combat.  I do like what I've seen so far.

Voice commands will only be available if you have the Kinect add on for your Xbox 360.  You will not get voice commands using the 360 headset.  The explanation for this is that it's the Kinect hardware doing all the work.

I was sad to see Christina go as she was a great coworker and a lot of fun outside the office and at conventions as well as being incredibly smart with what she did for the games she worked on. Still, love conquers all and moved on. Yes, the team was aware of this with plenty of time and Preston Watamaniuk, the Lead Designer of ME1 and ME2 is stepping in to fill Christina's shoes.

While we are all sorry to see her go, I do have to poke a little fun at the "well with her gone, they'll really mess up the game, cut RPG, botch combat, etc" comments I'm seeing as I remember back as we were leading up to ME2 how everyone thought Christina was doing a terrible job and messing up all the ME1 stuff. If I had more hours in teh day, I'd go back and look for teh same doom and gloom people to see if they said the same things between ME1 & 2. ;)

Not sure if this applies to the list of 'known' features, but Patrick Weeks (writer @ Bioware) has suggested today that the line,
"Shepard. You should have killed me when you had the chance."
features in the game.

http://twitter.com/#...673046149373952

There's a thread on the front page discussing who the speaker might be if anyone's interested.

My Shepard's response:

"What can I say? I'm a bad girl. I play with my food before I eat them."

Edit: First Jack Wall, now Christina Norman. All good things must end, as will all of our existences.
