The "nothings permanent" line suggests very strongly that the concept of full-time squad members has run its course and no longer the situation for ME3.
But why?
It worked fine and the alternative of arbitrarily switching out squadmates is just annoying. What if I like having a permanent squad? What if I like the synergy between specific characters?
It just sounds like they don't want to account for all the variation so they are forcing the choice on the player.
Or maybe everything is going to be great! (maybe)
or maybe, logically tali would want to be connected to the quarian situation - which we know is going to play a major part in the game, whilst shepard will probably be zipping all over the place, hence she plugs in when necessary (and as a LI), same goes for everyone - Legion being the geth counterpoint for the same.
