"Tali will be able to join your team,
but nothing's permanent in #ME3 - it's a story of full-scale war, with lots of twists."

Interesting, is this announcement enough to revamp the squad roster?

The "nothings permanent" line suggests very strongly that the concept of full-time squad members has run its course and no longer the situation for ME3.

But why?

:(

It worked fine and the alternative of arbitrarily switching out squadmates is just annoying. What if I like having a permanent squad? What if I like the synergy between specific characters?

It just sounds like they don't want to account for all the variation so they are forcing the choice on the player.

Or maybe everything is going to be great! (maybe)

or maybe, logically tali would want to be connected to the quarian situation - which we know is going to play a major part in the game, whilst shepard will probably be zipping all over the place, hence she plugs in when necessary (and as a LI), same goes for everyone - Legion being the geth counterpoint for the same.

Cry some more! Seriously, it is just a game. What if she becomes an admiral and will have to stay with the fleet and probably keep peace between quarians and the geth ?

Tali couldn't control a squad of idiot Marines on Freedom's Progress, so how the hell do you expect her to command the Migrant fleet without problems?  Last time I checked, she never had any political experience and was little more than "Daddy's girl."

The_Illusive... before you die, remind yourself of conversation with Tali on the Normandy after her loyalty mission (she can't be exiled). She mentions that Quarian people want her as an Admiral.
This may happen (or not) in ME3. Check on youtube or play the mission if you're close to it. You both will see what I mean.

Well with Shala'Raan and Zaal'Koris as admirals, I don't feel like the title of a quarian Admiral has to imply Fireteam Leader level tactical skills. It's as much of a political position as it is a military one.

That said, I also feel like those that serve under Shepard for prolonged periods of time would start to grow more skilled purely out of exposure, learning through observation and perfect example. Being a squadmate in one game should give any of them a powerup in the next, so-to-speak, unless of course they are are nearer the end of their lives and have already peaked in combat skill. For instance I doubt Miranda, Thane, Zaeed or Samara have much room left for improvement, they've spent much of their time honing what they have to the absolute maximum. There are other squadmates I don't really get that vibe from.

Additionally, unlike other squadmates Tali's character development tends to show a pattern of continually exposing her to these kinds of situations. Tali has not lead her last Quarian team. The Fleet will give her new missions, and she will continue to have to bear that weight, the weight of a leader. Given this, she is one of the few squadmates in ME3 that I could see having a reason for actually displaying a noticable improvement in leadership- at least if the writers willed it so. It would not strain my credulity in the least to see improvement from her.

In fact, those shortcomings are emphasized in some of her Lair of the Shadowbroker content, where she struggles to write a letter to one of the people that served under her's next of kin. When shortcomings are pointed out in writing, they are often the focus of future development and improvement for a protagonist, or the focus of a foreshadowed shortcoming in a villain or tragic character.

I'd prefer Tali not be an admiral, though honestly. Even if she does display the capabilities to fulfill the role.

I wonder if the quest in me2 where u recover info on Cerberus and u have a choice of keeping it, turning it over to Cerberus, or turning it over to the Alliance will influence the strength of Cerberus?
if u gave the info to Cerberus, then they are @ 40%.
if u kept-ed the info and used it later they are @ 35%
and if u gave the info to the Alliance they are @ 30%

No.

Judging by her past, she won't.

I'm all for squadmates jumping in and out of Shepard's squad as the need arises, but hopefully some characters remain permanent companions for him/her.

Characters like Garrus and Vega, who have no significant plot value, should stick with Shepard until the bitter end for example.

Apparently all the news stories are saying I left BioWare because I got married. I did get married, but that isn't why I left.

Ouch.

Oh my, that sounds...Not So Good.

Wonder if there was a disagreement between the developers or a loss of funds? This hurts me...
I am officially worried over the state of the game.
Can she give an exact reasoning for why she left? I am happy that she has a loving husband, but I am worried for her financial ordeal. A loss of revenue is never needed. Image IPB

More from Christina:

More info to follow soon but suffice it to say I remain in the games industry and I have a new gig.

I am also very grateful to BioWare and the mass effect team for the experience of working on three exceptional mass effect games.

Those 2 will probably be permanent squadmates, along with Liara (if she has resolved the Shadow Broker issue somehow. If not she may return?!). If it´s done good, I might like this new system. As long as we have all classes present on out squad, and everything´s balanced well, I´m good!

Well, of course they are making new characters =D Ahh, the possibilities! Might even be a Reaper!

About Christina:
Don´t think she left because of issues with Bioware. She did say she´s got a new gig, perhaps she wants to expand her horizon in the game industry! It´s her business! I just wish her well, and perhaps we´ll see her work on another ME/BW game in the future.

@ Albuquerque Comic Expo: Raphael Sbarge (Kaidan Alenko's VA)
"Mass Effect 3 Update from him: For those wondering, he has started
recording his lines. He's definitely not done yet. A podcaster asked if
he was going to be recording lines for m/m romance, and he confirmed it
and said he was all for it. (He said voice actors prefer emotional
scenes, and not 'screamy' scenes.. like being on a dragon and screaming

Huh.

Took the words right outta my mouth. Assuming this is legit, of course...

Personally, I'm confident Bio can make it work seamlessly, but there's going to be legions, believe me, legions of people raging. Raging their hearts out. Like, DAII-level rage. It's going to be incredible.

It's not retcon if the new stuff is just added and not replacing anything.

And as far as I know, Kaidan's prefered sexuality wasn't confirmed in ME1.

And no, the unused lines don't count.
