My question is still, why is is right? What makes this the direction you thought was meant to be for Mass Effect?

Because (very personal views coming) I don't think that ME is meant to be a RPG or TPS, etc......I think that Bioware wanted to do a space-opera in the shape of a game. That's what ME was, that's what ME2 was, and that's (likely) what ME3 will be. Of course if you excpect ME to be like KotOR you'll be disappointed, because Bioware didn't want to make a KotOR-like, but they just wanted to make a space-opera.....witch just happen to look like KotOR.
I'm glad they pushed ME on his own path,, and I fully support Bioware for achieving THEIR view of ME (not mine, but I happen to have a very similar view of the franchise).

I played the first two. It's not like I don't know what to expect of the games. I'm not accusing the game itself of now being a straight TPS or that RPG mode is truly a straight RPG. I think BioWare's view of what Mass Effect would become has been heavily influenced with each iteration by business strategy instead of creative developments. I don't think it is coincidence that ME3 is by far the most appealing to anyone who was looking for just a straight TPS based on marketing.

Except its always been popular... Like, platinum hits, BioWare blockbuster popular. Like, hipster wouldn't touch that popular.

Wait a minute... timj2011... hmmm....

...yeah its me cannon...anyway, Im not fighting in favor of the new gawdy action stuff (see: omni blade, feiry logo, etc..)

however, I am fighting the fact that you think that your opinion is the only one that matters, we can all see the change, for better or worse, some of us are accepting it because we love the Mass Effect universe for its lore (stroy wise) and characters, not because of its "cool sifi synths," (not disliking those, they are always welcome) and you are acting like the people who accept the change arent true fans...well how about you cannon? the guy who refuses to play any shepard besides the stiff soilder marketing shepard? how are you a bigger authority than those who play and love every inch of this universe?

You made the wrong assumption that I don't love its lore and characters. It's like my praise for one aspect erases the praise for another, and mentions of marketing display leaving doubts mean I am criticizing a game I don't even have yet. Voicing my opinions now isn't the same as voicing final review critiques on ME3. Haven't we gone over Shepard and Garrus being one of my favorite character duos of any game series? And surely you recall my attention to the Ashley-Shepard-Miranda love interests. Perhaps my repeated praise of Liara's development into LotSB? I guess I should be more vocal in how great I think Admiral Hackett and Anderson Anderson are. I've said before how damn great I felt when Joker walked in the room for the first time in ME2, a familiar face in the next part of the story. I've talked about how great the Illusive Man and his billionaire charm is. I've read the entire in-game codexes for both games. I've participated in discussion of the solutions for the ME3 conflict. Maybe I'll point out the obvious that I played ME before there was an action mode because I did indeed buy into a game from a studio known for storytelling. Then I replayed the game around 12 complete times, then I played the second one multiple times and played all the story DLC. If I was there for the synths and scenery and didn't love the story I got, I could just load old saves and visit the places I like and I sure as heck wouldn't have this much to say on a forum. That N7 gamer picture hasn't been on my gamertag for over three years because N7 sounds like a pretty code that I don't care to know the story behind. Perhaps you misunderstood my romanticized reflections on the gameplay imagery and universe concept imagery and my references to the elements of mood as a lack of deep appreciation for the story, characters, and lore. I'd be more vocal, but I can't say there is a whole lot wrong besides the Terminator Reaper. I refer frequently to this franchise as an attempt at an interactive sci fi epic (y'know, epic as in Oscar-bait film epics). I have been well-satisfied, and rightfully so.

And if you keep emotion in check during an argument you will catch that my very deliberate condescension points to my own awareness of my tone. I know I talk down to those I disagree with about accepting such changes because I am frankly emphasizing that I feel acceptance or submission to such changes is not as ideal to me as my stance of expressing vocal support for the long term entertainment relationship that the Mass Effect franchise has offered.

People misinterpret my over-the-top argumentative nature as an oblivious troll, and perhaps that is my fault for putting my concerns and supports in text form. I'll make it clear now, I have ordered several ME3 related goods and am reading along on these forums for the good news as ME3 approaches. I'm not here to change the course of ME development because we all know it is too late for the major points we discuss in this trilogy to be altered.

As sane human beings, I think we are all aware that opinions are opinions, meaning no matter how strong someone backs it or spins it, it isn't the right opinion.

Some changes are good, some are bad, and some are just begging to be talked about, in my opinion. ;)

this is what I was saying in the first place, its all opinions, which you arrogantly forgot about earlier, anyway, if this new point of view is how you trully feel, then all is well in the neighborhood

Well it isn't a new point of view, I am not saying I am about to change how I present my opinions, nor did I forget that it is all opinions... I was explaining where I already was with my arguments.

But anyways, I think there is some understanding now. The backlash I get here is probably deserved in part since I come on strong with opinions and rarely clarify that I understand a world of opinions make this forum go 'round. But I just plain like to make mine strongly known since I am, after all, the only me who can voice my own take on these things. I am stubborn and I am surely in for some more troll accusations for years to come.

My opinion is my opinion and I will continue to damn well back it. :bandit:

We are all entitled to our opinions Lars as are you. Now to move on to something else.

I would very much like to get to see all of the branches of the power trees with all of the evolutions of them. I am dying to get my hands on that demo so i can tinker with the trees.

Badass wasn't an ME priority when it started. It wowed with more substance than a combat ninja. This guy is clearly a post ME2 type of idea.

Yup. Regrettably popularity seems to do that to a company.

I miss your old pic Phaedon, but still thanks a lot for all the hard work you and your fellow contributors have put into this thread so everyone and keep better track of what was going into ME3. I've got 17 vacation days I have saved up for ME'3 release and I plan on using every single minute of it. Cheers!

@Phaedon - I've just checked out the combat features list, and only two grenade powers are listed for Sentinel and Adept.
I've played the demo now (got early access through Xbox's Facebook game ) - the Infiltrator has sticky grenades that do exactly what they say on the tin. Just thought I'd throw this in there.

Well Ive been keeping track and if my count is right, once the demo comes out this tuesday we will have 3 more weeks to wait before we get to save the galaxy or we can let it burn, either way its less than a month away.
