Vanguard will charge a lot?
Is their exclusive power a credit card?

I agree. But at least we know they are busy working on a GOTY.

Very true.  It's hard not to be impatient for a GOTY though.

And if they would actually post that engineer footage from PAX that would give me plenty to chew on.

Not a huge fan of the Engineer, but I want Infiltrator footage. Badly.

Are there 57 powers, or 57 power variants based on evolution progression?

Oh, I would be much more excited about Infiltrator footage too.  But since I know they've already shown Engineer footage to a live feed audience, I feel like I have the right to see it too.  Bioware said they would post it to Bioware TV.  Just because I was busy with my day when they showed the footage live, doesn't mean I should miss out on it.

@SympathySaren: Manveer definitely meant 57 distinct, separate powers.  Plus an odd number wouldn't make sense with that alternative interpretation.

The number would be much, much higher if it were based off of evolutions, as there are 6 evolutions for each power (or three choices between two mutually exclusive options).  Like so:

Rank 1: Power
Rank 2: Improvement
Rank 3: Further Improvement
Rank 4: Choice 1 or Choice 2
Rank 5: Choice 3 or Choice 4
Rank 6: Choice 5 or Choice 6

If there are 57 powers and we assume Shepard gets at least 8, then we're left with 49 powers.

Assuming that these powers are given to squadmates, and each squadmate has 5 powers,

49/5 = 9.8

10 Squadmates, guys, and that's with assuming a lot of things.

And any of those squad-mates could be like Morinth so.. that's still a rough estimation but seems in line with what we've been hearing about less squad-mates than ME2 but more than ME1.

To Bocks:

You are assuming that there are 10 squadmates, and you are probably right. ME2 had 12 and there were 6 in ME1. Casey Hudson said there was going to be a number of squadmates inbetween those two. And they will most likely have an even number, so either 8 or 10.

Maybe, and this is through speculation, 8 for the game and 2 downloadable ones again.

I have a request to make for the new project concerning this thread:

Could someone load up Texmod and ME2 and take a high quality pic of the datapad screen that appears when you interact with datapads, upload it, and post it here?

Thanks.

Look into my album. There is the Datapad texture if you still need it.

But they are different, right? I honestly don't know and am curious. For instance....singularity is a power, but enhancing the power isn't counting toward the total number of powers. Singularity, regardless of how it had gotten better, is one power. Correct?

If so....what new powers are there confirmed? This means there are a hell of a lot of new powers!!! :P

Singularity would count as one power. If it counted as three or six or whatever (based on your 3 evolution choices at rank 4, 5, and 6), then 57 would be far too low of a number even with the few powers we have confirmed so far.

Phaedon, apparently an imported Shepard no longer loses his or her level when changing classes.

The bolded quote seems to relate to changing Pre-Service History and Psychological Profile, not the actual class itself.  So as long as the class stays the same, switching to Spacer/War Hero from Earthborn/Ruthless won't kill your level/import perks.

Then why is the word "class" in there?

Click on the link and read the question and how Preston responded.

True, but the same can be said about "personal history" being in there as well.  Already read the question and the answer before.  Problem is that personal history is the term used for the combination of Pre-Service History and Psychological Profiles.  Even the Codex in ME1 files your history under a codex named "Personal History Summary" I think.

To break down the twitter answer:

"A personal history rewrite (changing Shep's background) on your Shep's class (note no mention in this sentence of changing class) will still preserve your level."

If he wanted to say changing your class doesn't change your level he would have simply said:

"Changing your Shep's class will still preserve your level."

Looks like he dodged the question a bit there and instead of saying no you don't preserve levels, decided to tell people that personal history changes won't effect levels.

Edit:

Now that I think about it after going over the quote for the fourth time, I can see how that sentence of rewriting personal history means class as well. As a player rewriting your personal history (the character creation process as a whole, basically retconning your Shep), changing class doesn't effect levels.

I'm thinking that's what he meant.  Although I still think there's special perks you get if you keep your class yes?

No, you're wrong. Let's diagram the sentence. "[O]n your Shep's class" is a prepositional phrase that is modifying the word "rewrite," thereby implying that the rewrite refers to the class. Arguably, your Shepard's class is included in his or her personal history.

I don't know how I can make this clearer. If the prepositional phrase "on your Shep's class" weren't there, then I'd agree with you. But you can't just choose to ignore it.

Edit: And is it confirmed that we can even change our Shepard's background (like Sole Survivor, War Hero, Ruthless)?

Yes you beat me to my edit.  Personal History=Character Creation/Edit process.

Okay. And I think you're right that you lose some special perks like resources or credits. I'm not sure about the specifics yet.
