ME3: Known Features - Closing Comments

"The first quest we are shown is on the radioactive Turian Homeworld of Palaven. As the Normandy cruises past our view, we are greeted with a giant panoramic scene of life on the planet, complete with roaming beasts, and numerous settlements dotting the horizon. Shepard's shore party is greeted by an armed cadre of Turian military, who request that he surrender his weapons if he is to enter the complex. I chose to use a Renegade approach and insult the Turian commander. One of his subordinates doesn't take kindly to this, and takes a step closer. An interrupt option (taking cues from the second game) allows me to take action. Shepard grabs the young Turian and takes his weapon. My party draws their weapons. Things don't look good for Shepard, he's been on the planet for less than five minutes and a Mexican Stand-off has already occurred."
"...Our second quest includes a surprise reveal. We are tasked with finding a group of Hanar scientists that are being held captive on the crime-ridden planet Invictus. The Normandy lands in a local dock where an unexpected, but welcome, Drell assassin greets us. Thane Krios, the companion from Mass Effect 2 is going to be accompanying you on this mission. Thane is suffering from a disease known as 'Kepral's Syndrome,' and the scientists in question are working on a cure for this very sickness... "While Thane is only a temporary companion, you can rest assured that you will feel content with his inclusion."
I'll see if I can add any features out of it within the week, in the meantime, check the Twitter for updates.

Damn, kinda wish I hadn't read that. Oh well. The Turians don't seem pleased to see Shepard. I wonder if its because Turians still don't like humans, or if its because Shepard is seen as a war criminal.Phaedon wrote...
Thanks to Jeff Zero, heavy spoilers:

I meant that fact that they greet him with an armed group and ask him to surrender his weapons. It may be a secret base of some time, but I interpreted it as general hostility towards Shepard. His insults probably didn't help though...Phaedon wrote...

Anyway, as I said in the previous page:
1)When should I add the MP features? Now, or after the info is released?
2)Anyone willing to contribute to regularly updating the OP?

And whiiiiile mars and Kaiser here are furiously attempting to make passive aggressive posts (That's not how it works, guys, you have to add something that remotely offends a characteristic of the target!) I'll let everyone here decide when they want me to add the new features. Now, as a simple feature (Co-Op Missions) or when we get the full announcements? I should be able to check again tomorrow. I am obviously updating Twitter for daily news in case you want to be kept up to date.
I am not removing one specific dev promise. For motives of pure malevolence.
Casey, you naughty boy.
I am also reconsidering an idea that Javier proposed some months ago. Anyway, if anyone is interested into regular editing of the OP's subsections, let me know, the more the merrier. It will remove a lot of workload from me, and I may need it in the following months.
Maybe we're two of the only people who cares about honesty and respect for fans/consumers, because most other people seem to be focused on whether or not the added content will be "good" or "bad." The quality of co-op is irrelevant to the issue here, at least for me.

So how's that crow tasting, Phaedon?
Hope you learned a lesson here about taking ambiguous dev-speak as gospel.

For the record, Phaedon, Vertigo mailed me that info originally.
I'm surprised that a mod hasn't deleted that, considering that's what happened when it was originally posted.

Uh, ME3 is a work in progress. Obviously at one point management didn't think they could make MP work, and now they do. Things change, the situation is fluid, as has been pointed out many times by the developers.

That's not the case here. I've been following development since the beginning and Bioware put out the ad for a separate branch of developers to work on multiplayer features a while ago, long before they had made their numerous statements about the lack of multiplayer in ME3. They knew the entire time they were denying it.
I get what you're saying about fluidity in game development, but in this particular situation there is evidence that blatantly disproves your hypothesis. Sorry, they aren't getting a free pass from me here. On the other hand, I'm not one of the crazies who will suddenly not buy the game or condemn Bioware for all time. I need to see a consistent pattern of things I don't like from a developer before I write them off, and Bioware has not reached that point yet for me. Even after DA2 and this multiplayer thing (lying to fans), I remain hopeful that they'll go on the right course in the future (i.e. give Dragon Age the development time it deserves and stop lying to fans/consumers; if you want to say "no comment," just say no comment, that covers all your bases and maintains your honesty and credibility).

I can agree with this sentiment. I would have preferred Bioware answering these questions with "We cannot comment at this time", which at least implies complete neutrality on the subject matter. The "devoted to the best single player possible" response strikes me as the kind of thing said when they want to appease fans, while being able to squirm out of the "Bioware lied to us!" responses. It's pretty under-handed.

Agreed it's weasely lawyer-type doublespeak.
Or as Mordin might say "Lie of omisson. Also, other kinds"

Agreed. At this point, I find the actual announcement of multiplayer (which sounds semi-appealing) less problematic than the manner in which Bioware chooses to deflect questions. It starts raising questions of whether we should ever expect to be able to take them fully at their word.
