I apologize if this has already been discussed, but I don't believe it has been. Apparently, Mass Effect 3 is set to have almost equal to both Mass 1 and 2 combined.

This again?  That line count was in reference to ME2 plus all the DLC:

_Vertigo_1: @VectorWarrior 40,000 lines of dialogue in #ME3?! Wow that's awesome!!

VectorWarrior (Rob Blake): @_Vertigo_1 Arg, not sure how many lines there are. There was around 40k in ME2 with DLC.

Yay for journalistic laziness!

All right, all right. I apologize. I'm not 100% in the know about every little thing; that's just a gaming news site that I check periodically - I saw that and jumped at it and that jumped out at me. Thought I'd share.

That was directed at the gaming site, not you.

ME1 had a bigger scope regarding space and the different worlds you could explore. ME2 had a bigger scope regarding cultures and people - for me it gave a much stronger understanding of just how massive the galaxy is in terms of the species inhabiting it, their cultures and their ways of life, focusing less on the uninhabited space and more on the places that people live. ME2 broadened that aspect of the game, while narrowing the wide open Universe that ME1 had. I liked both of them for those reasons though. Perhaps ME3 will encompass both aspects.

Story, RPG Elements and Combat done. I'll move on to Aesthetics now. I won't publish the docs until everything's ready, though.

Thane, wherefore art thou returning when you are supposed to be dead?

So much for the terminally ill bad boy romance grieving period payoff.

Well apparantly his at place where they are making a cure in ME3, so maybe he will die right before they succeed to make the cure?

You will have to choose between saving the hanar or curing Thane.

Finally. Someone doean't complain about the MP. (not that everyone does.) But i agree, MP looks really good and thought out, and the game was planned as a trilogy, soooo it is safe to assume that they have been working on the SP campaign details since day one. ;D

I am now incredibly upset with what BW has done. They've essentially put the boot in balance's rear-end, soldier's will be obsolete and the whole thing is most likely going to end up as one of those things that we wish we could just forget. Primarily, I'm just angry because this means that bullet-time won't happen the way it used to, which I loved.

Don't get  me wrong, it is nice to have multiplayer come to the ME franchise, but seriously, couldn't they have waited until AFTER we finish shep's trilogy? Did they really have to do it now, could they not have just split it and made the multiplayer stuff into its own game? Have bioware been bribed into this with a paycheck from EA?

Side note: let me get this straight, not only do the SP lovers have to suffer multiplayer, but it's also going to affect the story? Can someone explain this in a way that won't involve me making a fool of myself?

MP basically is sort of its own game. None of SP characters appear in it and the abilities have been tweaked for MP balance in MP only. Adrenaline Rush is just as it always was in ME3, and I know, cause I played the demo.

As for the story, MP adds to the SP's "War assets" bar, which apparantly helps just how your ending turns out. But its only one of many ways to get War assets and you can max out the bar without ever touching MP just by doing SP stuff.

Meanwhile SP affects MP in that you only can make humans at first, and other races will be available to make new characters only if you've succeeded in recruiting the race by solving their problem and gaining their cooperation. In other words, if you fail to help the Krogan's with their female problem, or opt to help out another race over them, you can't make any Krogan characters.

So if anything the MP is heavily restricted by the SP rather than the other way around.

Or at least that's how I understand it.

That would be one of the hardest decisions my Shep's had to make.  They are both so polite!  Even when they are asking you to smuggle illegal cargo or are assassinating people.

I don't get why ppl get so worked up about MP or any other added feature , just don't play the MP if your more of a SP player , I have several other games that boast MP , but I only play the SP , you have choice which is good , for those that love MP they will be sure to play it for those that don't . . . leave it be . . . the full game doesn't come out till March , play it 1st or catch the reviews before you decide its bad or not. . .

Got a nice little find here, folks. If you're looking for info on the Engineer class, there's a video on YouTube called "Mass Effect 3 gameplay footage from NYCC 2011". I'd give a link to it but I'm currently using a mobile device (you'd be taken to mobile YT).

Basically, the Engineer's powers are as follows:

Incinerate
Cryo Blast
Combat Drone
Overload

and the new powers:

Tech Mastery (the "boost" power, it "makes your creative powers faster, flashier and more frequent")
Sentry Turret (already a known power, only one can be activated at a time)
Sabotage (basically this merges AI Hacking and Sabotage from ME1. Enemy weapons overheat and cause damage to the enemy, and the power also turns synthetics on their allies)
Fortitude (passive power that increases health, shields and melee damage)

If you love Combat Drones, the video also shows the deeper customisation for that particular power. Among other upgrades you can spend points to give it different attacks. Exploding when destroyed. Short-range shock attack. Long-range rockets. Chain lightning attack (similar to Arc Projector, I assume).

Unfortunately the Engineer's heavy melee attack wasn't showcased, but a few interesting snippets of info for you to add there, Phaedon. :)

It's not about that. It's about the fact that you will have people working on MP. Whether they released MP or not the date wouldn't change, therefore, they are using the same time, with basically the same resources, and splitting it multiple ways.

Also because ME1 and 2 were what you'd call "safe havens" for SP lovers and offline players, who could play the game all they wanted and not have to worry about a certain achievement or armor piece that was impossible to get without it. Oblivion and Fallout also fill into the category, if they had to focus on MP as well, then things would have problems.

Look at ME2, it took up 2 discs for gods sake. Add multiplayer to that, more lines, and more customisation, and I expect to be changing discs more often that I'm playing. I've got nothing against multiplayer, but I just loved ME for the fact that it didn't have any, I liked it because I didn't have to rely on others to get things done. I'm fine with multiplayer being available, but I'd prefer it to be placed away from singleplayer.

Forget the second post. Where is the information updated? On the changelog. That you can find by pressing the "What Did I Miss?" Button. Where the actual information is? At the various blogs, which you can find by pressing the interactive buttons.
