Being Black i love that i can Make my action hero a Minority cause there is so little racial diversity in Video game leads, man or woman there allways usualy white, Even in Japanese made games the protagonists look Caucasian<_<
So who here Plays as a Minority Shepard?
My Main Shep is Asian [note that I am not]
i also have 2 Black shepards [male and Female]
As Well as An Indian and a hispanic one [Female and Male Respetivly]
and on my current run through of ME1 iam running though with an Irish woman

Some people have problems with this "racial singularity" thing, though, on the basis of it being a misunderstanding of human genetics.

It's just at this point skin colour isn't a big deal as everyone is frm everywhere. Genetics I guess. So I guess I do have an Indian, Asian, hispanic shepard but I doubt they are a minority

In the ME setting, humanity is near a racial singularity. That means that nearly everyone is of mixed race, and the most common skin color is a light brown. Any Shepard I create shows multiracial features, to follow lore. That's why I like Sheploo - he looks "mixed."

there still seems to be a Majorityof straight up white people[not that is nescarily a bad thing]

I think it's because some people think that a person of color has to be written a certain way rather than skin color being just that...skin color.

As York said, at this point Humanity pretty much is mixed race. Everyone has ancestry in several regions. Once example, look at David Anderson. He studied in London but doesn't have a British Accent. Hendel from Mass Effect: Ascension, tall bloke, mixed with native american ancestry. Kai Leng, dominant asian features, Kaiden Alenko whom I believe has Russian Ancestry but doesn't sound like one.

The odd thing about this is in ME if you look at everyone on the Normandy their shade is not close to Anderson's shade. I could be wrong, but I don't remember seeing another person with a dark skin complexion. On the Citadel, it's the same deal. In ME2 there's probably 2 on the Normandy besides Jacob. On Omega I don't remember coming across any except for Jentha. Gianna is probably the only person that comes close in both games, now that I think about it, but it looks more like a tan than anything else.

Bioware just doesn't follow its own lore regarding this matter. Also skin color and genetics possess a bit of subtlety that the eye just doesn't see.

I'd say logically it can make sense. Minorities (non whites) of humanity typically tend to live in slight to signifigent financial classes. I can look at this, and reasonably assume that most of humanities minorities reside on earth, due to financial, cultural, and/or religious differences. That being said, there still are large amounts of non-white humans spread throughout the galaxy.
So BW's lore still stands.

To an extent I agree with greed's comment (but not his hairstyle) I think if you are going to have only one black guy in a game other than a custom built shepard, you could do a lot worse than Captain Anderson (looking at you Jacob; you mildly painted stereotype).
I mean Captain Anderson is pretty darn cool. He will literally take a bullet for you, he's the only person that believes you other than your crew, and he's an all around badass.
First human Spectre candidate, major war Hero, like Shepard, and voiced by Keith David. That is a recipe for awesome mixed with liquid oxygen and a match.

@Ski Mask Wei: Yolanda is my favorite of that group. Good choice of features.
I forgot to include my other Shepard, Ezra who I see as having a mix of Arabic/Hispanic features:
