So since earth is well.. preoccupied being wiped out in Mass Effect 3, and its defence would be a good priority for the systems alliance. Will we be seeing Arcturus station the capital of the human systems alliance in ME3 or has it already been destroyed by the reapers? whats going on with the alliance capital?

Will we be able to go there and work things out, maybe plan to fight or die and thats our plan =P. Will we ever get to see Arcturus Station?

Im not 100% sure where Arcturus station is located, but i think its on the way to relay 314 (i think thats the right num) so if im right, i would assume that the Reapers obliterated it on the way to Earth.

yeah its linked by the charon relay to the sol system so the reapers would most likely have gone through Arcturus first.. Guess its destroyed =(... Hope Admiral Hackett wasn't there though

Yeah I'm pretty sure it'll get crushed by the Reapers en route to Earth.

If I remember correctly Arcturus station was supposed to be in the system of the star of the same name: Arcturus.
The star is an orange giant so there are no habitable planets there, but that system contains 3 primary relays (one goes to the citadel I believe) and a secondary relay that goes to Sol, so as a choke point its of enormous strategic importance to the Alliance...

Since that secondary relay was the only one leading to Sol, unless the reapers came to earth via normal FTL, that would imply Arcturus station was destroyed... Especially since Jesse Houston said by the time the Reapers arrive on earth the Alliance navy has basically been obliterated, and most of the Alliance Navy is near Arcturus...

I just hope Hackett and Hanna Shepard are ok...

OT...
Here's a size comparison of the orange giant Arcturus...

Here's a link with some other size comparisons, including Arcturus (and see what size actually means for a star: e.g. Hypergiant VY Canis Majoris): Star Sizes.

Yeah, the capital of the System Alliance is Arcturus Station, they have the military headquartes and the parliament there...

Earth is our homeworld, but since it is hardly unified and the Alliance has to represent the interest of humanity as a whole they thought it would have been smarter putting their capital on neutral "ground"...
Besides, like I said, Arcturus is a chokepoint in Relay travel so the Alliance military would have to be positioned there anyway... :P

Actually there are some scientists who believe that a main sequence star that has entered the red giant phase like Arcturus did, and like the Sun will in 6 billion years can actually sustain life for tens of millons of years. Some moon or a terrestiral planet in the outer system (for example Titan in our system) could become habitable under the Red Giant Sun.

Just though I would throw that out there.
