If you think this is a problem, don't ever watch pretty much ANY sci-fi film with multiple races living together.  Farscape alone would drive you insane. 

Farscape's system is more invasive as far as I recall. I think it makes your brain translate the words you are about to say directly into gallactic standard. Might be wrong though...
