I'm thinking of going back to Oblivion for the time being. There's just nothing else to play to keep me busy until summer school!  I've played as a mage, thief, and warrior but I want to mix it up now. What are some interesting builds?

Depends are you playing on a console or PC? Mods really add longevity to the game though I haven't played in years...

I'm playing on the console but I wished I bought it for PC now that I have a good rig.

Well it's $25 on Steam for the GOTY edition. The mods themself make it worth the purchase.

I used to have a Dell XPS computer, Oblivion was my favorite game to play on it. I beat the mainquest and Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles.

apologies for the slightly off-topic post: anyone know a way to run a comprehensive check on system specs for a laptop? I can never remember for the life of me what the specs of my laptop are.

Do you play with mods?

I started a new playthrough about 6 months ago with FCOM/OOO/MMM/Frans/Warcry, Duke Patricks, TNR, OBGEv2, ENBSeries shaders, QTP3, Better Cities, Real Hunger, Real Thirst, Real Sleep, Supreme Magicka, Less Annoying Magic Experience and about 150 other mods.

It is a completely different game, lots of fun. Duke Patricks and the overhaul mods make combat really challenging on the hardest difficulty setting. You can one-shot enemies with your bow, but they can one-shot you as well, so you have to approach enemy archers very carefully. I usually die a few times in almost every combat encounter.

I'm up to about 350 hours now and I haven't even touched the main quest or entered any Oblivion gates yet.

Playing as a stealthy Dunmer mage/archer but using the moonshadow elf mod for the textures, meshes, tribal tattoos, hair and facial features.

When i first started playing it, i was like, this game is amazing, but the more i learned about it and played it, the more and more i disliked it.

But i come from the 80's, playing the early Ultimas and Gold Box games, so i guess it' a generational thing.

I liked getting stuck back then and thinking about how to figure something out in the time between gaming secessions.

I still play. I've sunk quite some time out of my life into the game, and in Morrowind as well.

Has anyone here beaten the Nehrim total conversion? Downloaded it, had some crashings issues, wondering if the mod is worth it.

I don't.

I'm one of those people who got it for console, since I don't even have a mediocre gaming PC. To be honest, I got bored of the game after about 60ish hours. To me, it just felt like there was no point in doing anything.

I do firmly believe, however, that if I had a good computer and had Oblivion for it, I would have so much fun with the game.

I still play it occasionally but I tend to get lost after about 20 hours. I found when I played it frequently it became like a second job. Go here do this, then take that to this person over here because you need that to start this quest etc. I enjoyed it; it's just so big it can be overwhelming. Still prefer Morrowind but did enjoy Oblivion and I might play it again a bit before Skyrim gets released.

I loved Oblivion, first rpg I ever played. However, now, I have had too many playthroughs to be interested in picking it up again, and Skyrim is just around the corner... *looks at pile of games yet to be played on pc and console forlornly*

I need more hours in the day to do everything.

If you can get the game for PC, there's a total conversion mod called 'Nehrim' that's apparently really, really good. I have it downloaded and it's in my 'to play' list, but I can't seem to get the time in between everything else! x

I miss playing it, but every time I try and replay it I remember the really awful level scaling issues it has and just put it back down. Also, barely any of the fond memories I have of it are about the main story, I can't think of any main story quest I particularly enjoyed, which doesn't help it.

At the moment, I'm busy playing DAO Ultimate, will play DA2 Signature (arriving next week from Amazon) once I return from a vacation, and I still got ME1 and 2. At some point I may get back to Oblivion since I dug out my 360 version for my xbox 360 (was a PC gamer for a while, played WoW for 5 years, regretfully, but I got tired of it and bought my xbox 360 off a whim). I plan to stick to console for rpgs from now on, and I consider this my catch up time.

I only beat Oblivion once and I didn't even do KOTN >> I plan to complete the entire game sooner or later, at least before I get my hands on Skyrim =)

and eww text games
