Ok folks need a hand here figuring this un-official patch thing out. Now I know that I need to download and install 3.20 patch as I've never done so. Main question I've got on the patch is which one? There is an

1. Unofficial Oblivion Patch v3_2_0 installer version
2. Unofficial Oblivion Patch v3_2_0 self installing EXE version

And after installing this patch will I have to sart my game over from scratch or can I continue playing it?

The easiest thing is if you download the self installing exe version. Then you just have to double-click and follow the instructions.

And you don't have to start a new game. The patch will work with old saves too :)

Now I knew i'd get an answer sooner or later to my question and I appreciate it. Had to take a break from the game as I was getting my rear kicked by some lousy guardian skeletons of all things. Just running by this fort and about 20 were on me before I knew what was going on. Hate when that hapens not even a weapon out. Guess it's pay back for all their brethen I sniped in the dungeons I've been going through.<LOL>

Thanks again and since I took a break I'm going to go and download and install it now while I"m thinking of it. Than it's payback time.

20 skeletons? Bah! Try playing Gothic 3 with the community patch and liberating a city or exterminating an orc camp. This will give a whole new meaning to "difficult".

Now I never said it was difficult did I?<LOL> They had just got me off guard at the time. But thats ok I left a big pile of bones there and moved on.<G> Never played any of the Gothic games as I never knew what they were about. Or if they were worth getting into And now that I'm playing Elderscrolls I doubt I'll have to worry about other games for awhile.<G>

I'm seriously addicted to my Male Breton right now. Started with the Thief class, changed Marksman for Blade and I recalled myself a Mercenary. I played like 16 hours or so and already reached level 13 or so. I'm trying to boost most of my skills to 75 before attacking some quests. I'm looking for a way to level up some of my alteration spells though for one of the magic guild's missions.

I'm pretty much running a sniper.<LOL> Will have to admit that it didn't start out that way when I started out. Was thinking of starting over again as a sniper but keep putting it off. I pretty much use a bow with blades as back up, sneak, security and light armor and  Armorer. Started out with heavy but switched to light. Now I've mastered light armor and I don't have the weight burden of it.<G> I'm working on Master Armor now.<LOL> I'm Expert in light Armorer and can repair armor to 125% which gives better protection.

I haven't played that much in the last 24 hours. Gotta fix that! I'll try to finally end the first Mage Guild mission tonight and probably start another quest. I played like 16 hours or so on that file.

I've already done all the mage reccomendation quest as well as for most of the misc quests. I just joined the fighters guild and I'm working through there quests. Haven't started on the thieves quild, I have been contacted by them, And currently have yet to be contacted by the Dark brotherhood. Still haven't figured out why I joined the mages as I'm not one that enjoy's using spells all that much. <LOL>

I'm curious as to where Oblivion stores the saved game files for the game? I want to back them up as I'm considering a restart once again.

The savegame files are stored here (for win7/vista):

the dark brotherhood only contact you while you sleep in a bed after you murder someone.
If none of your killing is considered murder (or you don't use beds) they won't contact you.

The odd thing about the mage's guild is you don't have to be good at magic to become head of the guild.
Only 1 or 2 of their quests require the use of magic (my thief girl ended up using scrolls for the puzzle solving in ruins -as she learnt Fingers of the mountain while at level 20 she will probably never have the magicka to cast it (currently 80))

Naughty thanks looked for them for awhile and couldn't find them. <LOL>

Get Magna- Was wondering about the DB as they've yet to contact me. Of course looking things over I've yet to do anything for which would be classified as murder I guess.<LOL>

to be honest I'm not certain what I did that got the DB interested in my character
..looking at FAQs it might have been killing the arena champion but that was a standard kill in arena combat so it shouldn't count

I can't remember if stats record number of murders
If you think they might be interested sleep in a bed at an inn or one of your homes

If you research his past he gets super depressed amd just stands there and it counts as murder as far as the DB is concerned.

Who gets super depressed the head of the DB?

Also wonder if someone could help me. I d/l'ed and installed the Un official patches for both Oblivion and Shivering isles. Now there is a Key that is in my items that states "unofficial Oblivion Patch Added" What is up with that there? Is it something just to let me know that the game is patched? Can leave the thing in my house and be done with it?

The champion of the arena.  Though I managed to avoid that counting as murder (whether that's considered useful or not) by taking him down with an arrow before he had a chance to speak.

At a guess, probably; though I'm not entirely certain. Various mods add items to your inventory for the purpose of configuring them easily, but if it doesn't bring up a menu when selected, I guess it's just there for decoration! I prefer to use one of the "keyring" mods anyway (such as KeyChain and its Shivering Isles add-on) since they quickly get rather out of hand otherwise...

Well now will have to admit that you sound like me when it comes to using the bow after all it's my primary weapon of choice with the blade as a back up in case the bow don't take  them down and I've got to go melee.

Your right in regards to the keys. Might have to check out the keyring mod for which you mentioned. Usually I just dump them in one of the containers @ one of my houses and forget about them. I figure it's one less thing for which I've got cluttering up my inventory. But wasn't sure about this one for the UOP for Oblivion and thought that I would ask about it. Thanks for the response.

Now I'm wondering if someone can answer thiese questions for me since allot of you have played Oblivion allot long than I have. First off under the stats sheet @ the far right where there is the three badge looking teals when you click on that there it gives things like total current stats for the game monsters killed, people killed etc etc. it has a place that states Number of places found. Now has anyone ever found every place in their game or do they happen to know what the total number of places are that can be found?

Also meant to ask this before about Glass armor and weapons. I take it that this is some of the better quality stuff as far as light armor and weapons go and thats why I've not found any as of yet? Of course it didn't help that I started the game from scratch once again.<LOL> But this will be my finall restart I'm bound and determined to make it all the way through this thing this time with my current male Dunmar sniiper.

Thanks

I don't know the number offhand, but you could check out UESP's list!  There's rather a lot.  There's a rather nice Google map near the top of that list that you may also want to check out.

Glass armour is the highest rated of the light armours; I think glass swords, axes etc are about the third highest rated of the weapons, which aren't split into "light" and "heavy" like the armour.

Edit: in terms of it appearing later, I think that category of stuff works its way into the game at around level 17, though I don't recall the exact level offhand.  It's a bit rigid though, so I prefer to use the various levelling rebalancers out there: but it's really a matter of personal taste.

What equipment you're getting depends on your level. When you hit appropriate level, every lowly bandit will be wearing a full suit of glass armor, don't worry, you won't miss it.
