Ok another thing for which I've got to ask here When I finally kicked Umbra's butt after who knows how many reloads and I got all her stuff. It went down as a murder. But life happens that way sometimes. Now I know that when I go to sleep I'll get a visit from the Dark Brotherhood. No big deal as I wanted to join them any way.Image IPB But since I've got a murder on my stats record will that keep me from Joining the fighters Guild and working on them quest?

Also since I didn't get any sort of bounty put on me for killing Umbra does that mean I won't get a visit from the Dark Brotherhood? Image IPB

As long as you don't have a bounty you can join the Fighters Gulid, no worries. I'm not sure about the visit, though. If it said "Someone has witnessed you commit a murder" then you for sure will be visited. If not sure and still want to join, just kill somebody.

No bounties on my head but I did get a message in the upper left of the screen that mentioned something or other about your murder or actions have been  observed by unseen forces or something like that there.

Great thanks for the information I appreciate it as this is my first time through the game. Will have to admit that Umbra had some nice looking armor as well as for the great shield. Image IPB

I've learned from past exerience with other games that Mods can be finicky.

I just realized there's a fair amount of the map locations that are hidden. I was looking for Aleville to do one of the quests, and I didn't find it until I went down the road and it just popped up. That quest went ok, but I had some problems with the Mages Guild-I never could get that mage in Broma to reappear.

Well yes when you first get out of your prison cell there isn't nothing on the map if you remember correctly; Just the main areal like Bravil, Bruma etc. You've got to find the other areas. I think I've come across about 235 so far. I've gotten most of the mis quest done and probably about 1/2 of the fighters guild with still lots more to go.

Now are you talking for the mage reccomendation quests? Because at one point I had done every one of them without a hitch. Haven't started them this time through yet though.

Yes, I figured the main areas were all there was. It came as a pleasant surprise. Yes, the mage recommendation quests. I believe I gave the spellbook at the wrong time. It mentions you hand over the book after 10 pm, and I gave it to him in the daytime. I've reloaded an earlier save and will try again.

Ok I remember that one now. Personally using something with detect life just search the mages guild and you will find the one that is invisible and just cast a dispel magic spell on his butt thats why I did and than go and talk to the head of the guild.<LOL>

As for me I'm working on the Fighters quild quests currently. Had to start a new game due to issues with the last one. Got most of the Misc quests done cept for 4 of them and almost all of the fighters guild. Next Dark Brotherhood.

No actually thats the 2nd in the line of the Faction quest this time around. You see I had to re start the game from the beginning and this time I worked the misc. and than the fighters guild quests. Which I  have been promoted to champion and have to got see Oreyn for some reason. He was expelled from the guild @ one point and I was demoted. <LOL> Once the fighter guild is done I've got to go and do in some guy at an inn. How I got the Dark Brotherhood is from murdering Umbra. Went in and riled her feathers with an arrow while in stealth mode and then uesed the sunderblade to take care of her weapons and then I unleashed every arrow I had available on her. Believe me it took many a reload. Oh and the Snake power that you get for stunning helped as well.Image IPB

I've been playing Oblivion for the past week. I've never completed the main quest before or my two favorite guilds and I want to do that before Skyrim comes out. I hadn't played in a while because I remembered the game being very tedious to play. However I've discovered it isn't like that at all. It was only a chore in the past because I insisted on "maximum efficiency" when leveling. This got me bogged down training all sorts of skills I never used. So this time I didn't do that.

I've remembered why I love this game. It is such a huge world and playing a stealth characte offers so much variety. It's the only way to play the game as far as I'm concerned.

Will have to admit that this is the first time for which I've played the game personally and so far I like it. Did most of the Misc quest already and have done all of the main part of the fighters guild quests. I'm getting ready to infiltrate the Blackwood guild now.Image IPB After that I'll work on the Dark Brotherhood and maybe the thieves together.Image IPB

Now since you didn't mention it in our post what are your two favorite guilds?

I usually run stealth with a bow. Its  so much fun being a sniper. Image IPB

Be careful about doing DB and TG together. I remember reading about some glitches, where doing a DB quest in the middle of a TG quest could cause issues with TG rules . . . . might have been fixed, and I may be remembering wrong, but just be careful about when you obtain and complete quests for each guild.

(trying not to be too spoilery for you, but if you want a little more detail, I can try to do that without spoiling)

Well now since you put it that way there which would you suggest that I do first the TG or the DB?

Doing either first should cause no issues. Personally, I prefer the DB quests. I never finished the TG quests on my first game . . . .and in the game I'm currently playing, my last quest has yet to trigger, even though I've completed everything else. So I won't finish it again, because I don't want to reload from that old of a save.

BTW - do you have Knights of the Nine? If so, do that AFTER the DB and TG quests. It'll save you some time.

Thanks for the suggestions about the DB and TG. And yes I've got both the Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isle DLCs they were included with my game.Image IPB So than I think I'll do the DB, than TG and than Knights of Nine. I appreciate the feed back on this.

CuseGirl- As for me with computer RPGs it was Baulders Gate. Before the computer there was pnp Dungeons and Dragons. Guess thats why I enjoy RPGs like these so much and don't really play any other games

Now I'm curious as to something Since I'm now head of the fighters guild and Modryn is my second in command under me. He said that I should check back with him once a month if I want to change the duties of the guild. Right now I've got the guilld basicly middle ground of recruitment and contracts. How am I suppose to know when the month is up to change duties if I want to change them? Will I get a Journal entry?

No problem.  Stay off the Pilgrim's Path until AFTER you do the DB.

No journal entry.  On the 360, you can check the date on your loading screen . . .perhaps on the map screen as well, not sure (I've stopped looking closely).  You're basically just picking up money, though, so it's no big deal if you're late or miss a month.

The Darth Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild are my favorites. The questlines for the Mages and Fighters Guilds wound up boring me. Though that wasn't strictly due to the guilds themselves as much as it was the type of character I was playing. The Fighters guild actually has an interesting questline towards the end once it starts focusing on the Blackwood Company (incidentally I really wish joining them was an option for "evil" fighting types).

I think the main problem is that non-stealth characters are just incredibly boring in my experience. Every dungeon is the same: walk forward and kill everything in your way. When I play stealth I make it a rule to only kill enemies who drop valuable ingredients or enemies I fail to sneak passed. Even so if I can run away and hide from them I will. Stealth just keeps things interesting.

I only did the other guilds to get the achievements out of the way.

Honestly the main quest annoys me sometimes. I actually like the way it is carried out because it lends itself well to stealth, for the most part anyway. However I still hate how it winds up granting me so much infamy at times. In my first playthrough when the game first came out I mostly ignored the main quest. Howeve I want to establish my own "canon" for Skyrim.

Though I am not going to do the Shivering Isles. I just don't like the idea of my character becoming a "god". Once that happens to a person I lose all ability to identify or sympathize with them. He's not human anymore if that happens. So as far as I'm concerned some other hero went othe Shiver Isles and did all that stuff while mine gradually hid away from public life.

TJpags- The Pilgrims path? As for the DB I've started that one already and have to go and kill a ship captin.<G>

Ok thanks in regards to the Head of the FG wasn't sure how we were suppose to do that there.

Saphra Deden-As for the Dark Brotherhood this is my first time doing them so I'll let you know what I think when I get through it. And then I'm going to do the Thieves guild. As for the FG some of the quests were in fact lame to be honest with you there; like the one with the rat lady. As for the mage Guild the last character I had before I started over I did do the mages recomendation quests but that was as far as I had gotten on that one there. Of course never did care much for playing a mage. Of course I do like the healing aspect.<G>

As for Shivering Isles I didn't know that your Pc became a god by doing that one there. Not sure if I like that idea myself to be honest with you.

Love using the sneak skill as well like I said before. Only thing I didn't do was take it as one of my major skills. Reason being I like getting that one and marksman up to Master as quickly as possible as they are the two main ones for which I use. And with the way for which Oblivion uses major skills to level the character up I'd be level 25 before getting half the misc quests done.<LOL>

I'm curious if anyone knows if you can take souls from Azura's star and transfer them to other gems. Say if you've got a petty in Azura's star could you transfer it to a petty soul gem?

Also I know that there is a construction set for which you can use to make your own things. Has anyone used it and is it pretty easy to use?

My Orc is just a balls out melee character. He just goes in and ploughs right through anything that stands in his way. My next character will probably be a stealth based one. I'm leaning between Wood Elf, Argonian and Khajiit but I haven't decided yet. I'm also considering a Breton Battlemage build, but we'll see.

Anyway, I recently got Azura's Star, I love that artifact. A soul gem that doesn't go away so you can constantly refill your enchanted items? Just awesome.
