If you don't mind being a vampire you get a spell that is both nighteye and detect life. I think it is called Hunter's sight.

Or you could make your own spell that does both at the Arcane University.  That way you don't have to deal with the hassle of being a vampire.  I never found vampire abilities worth the annoyance of having to feed.

Well to me being a vampire is just as much a roleplaying decision as it is a gameplay decision.  If playing a good/noble type of character than I won't become one but for my current character it comes right with the territory.

Alright well an update ony my dude. Got him into both the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood. Also turned him into a vampire by raiding a vampire fort near leyawin. I forget what it is called but it is right on the water. Checked out both frostcraig spire and deepscorn hollow as well as purchased a paint horse. Completed a couple of quests for each my respective guilds partly because I wanted access to the fence in leyawin (since it close to deespscorn hollow) Right now my focus is going to be on making money so I can begin to deck out both deespcorn hollow and frostcraig spire. Going to probably do some dungeon diving around the IC and some thieving in Bruma and Leyawin. Not going to worry about advancement this early in my guilds. Seeing as though I am a vampire now I also have to adjust my schedule accordingly. I still try to feed frequently enough so I can be out and about in the day time but when I travel throughout cyrodil I do that at night. I still need to purchase the waterfront shack and when I can afford it I will upgrade to a chestnut horse. I generaly keep my horses out of danger so I am not worried about the low health that the chestnuts have. I generaly just use horses for long range traveling so I usualy have them parked at the nearest city or stable.

You mentioned two places Frostcraig spire and Deepscorn where Did you find thest two at? Are they mods for which  are available for download? I've got the Oblivion GOTY and haven't found these two at all. As for me I've got all the Faction quest done including the mages guild and I run them all now. Have done Knights of the Nine as well as most of the Misc. quests. I've yet to do any of the main quests and still haven't turned in the Amulet for which you get from the King in the very beginning as I was told not to do the main quests till the very end and I figured the amulet of kings was part of the main quest. Now as far as I can tell the only thing for which I've got to do is starting on the main quests and shivering isles. Also noticed that there was mention of having to shut a bunch of gates so have to do that there as well.

Think I'm going to go and do shivering isles now and see what kind of trouble I can get into over there. The thing that I'm wondering about doing that one is whether or not I can get that one started and still have access to my houses in Skingrad and Anvil as well as for my guild areas like the Mage and TG for example.

Also when you folks enchant items like armor what is the main thing for which you enchant things with? Another words is it strength, magicka or what? Just curious on this here. I did enchant a pair of greaves with strength.  But that was all I've done so far. Any Ideas out there on this?

deepscorn hollow and frostcraig spire are both dlc. I play on the xbox 360 so I don't have access to mods but I do have access to DLC. Also when you go to the shivering isles you can return to cyrodil anytime you wish and you will still have access to all your houses, guilds, etc....

Well now as for the Dlc's for which you mention are they still available and worth the money to purchase them? Thanks for the info in regards to my being able to travel back and forth between shivering isles and my  houses and such appreciate it.

I'd assume they are still available but I don't remember the cost. Do you play on PC or console?

Well now will have to admit that I just finished a quest "Revenge Served Cold" which I obtained from Harms Folly Farm. I had to go and clear out a cave of goblins and return his wives amulet to him that they stole from her body when they killed her. I figured no problem this will be a quick easy quest. How wrong I was.<LOL> That cave was filled with Goblin Warrior's and Shamons and they were some tough battles to get through. Even Mannimarco<aka: the Worm> wasn't as bad as thiese goblins were. It sure humbled me on thinking them goblins are nothing but a pushover. Ugly yes pushover no.

Oh you run into some enemies that are a pain in the rump to beat depending on your level. I've been thinking of doing another run, but honestly...I have like 120-140 hours wraped up in my current run and I so don't want to do all that crap again. Maybe if the DLC is on sale I'll get some more of those hide outs, but doesn't seem worth it.

Goblins are remarkably tough in Oblivion. At higher levels, I find them one of the toughest enemies. They no longer do a lot of damage one on one, but man do they just stand there and take hit after hit. They don't go down!!!!

I actually find it refreshing, to be honest, given that most other enemies - bandits, creatures, etc - are often put down in about 20 seconds. A mob of goblins can be a nightmare.

Well this one sure was and here I thought that it would be just a simple retrieval mission. After all ti was just some goblins.<LOL> I'm thinking of going over to the web site and checking out what other DLCs are available and maybe downloading them. The only two for which I've got is Shivering Isles & Knights of Nine. Was wondering about the others.

Well I got the castle one with those, mainly so I can have a place for free, same with the pirate ship I like that 2k a week gold bonus.

As to that mission I mainly snuck around hit them all in the head one at a time. No problems. When they seen me I stood up charged them and swung away.

Well now will have to admit that with what you've told me I like so far. Especially the Pirate ship and the castle. Might download them today.

Well now I was on the site looking over the DLCs for which are available for Oblivion and I'm going to download the following ones I think:

Fighters Stronghold ; Thieves Den,  Wizards Tower, Orrery

Not sure about

Vile Lair, Spell tomes or Mehrunes Razor.

But if they aren't to expensive I just might download them as well. Only thing is with Vile Lair which is for evil characters I think that one would be rough. The reason being is you probably need to have a high infamy and the KON wipes out your infany when you do the purification quest. Unless you can use Gray Fox hood to make up for it which gives you automatic 100 infamy when you've got  it on.<G>

I understand that there. BTW I did edit that post when you made your reply you might want to do a re read. Also tried to make a purchase and it's down for maintenance. Just my luck.

I make different characters that focus on only certain quest lines while ignoring other ones.  If I am playing an evil character like the one I just started then obviously I am not going to be to Knights of the Nine questline.  Also not going to be joining the fighters or mages guild with this character.  With the character I did this summer he was the opposite of what I am doing now.  He did KoN and the Main Quest, as well as the fighters guild.  Also took up residence in Battlehorn castle.

I understand what you are saying now. Since this was my very first time through I thought that I would cover just about everything so that I would know what is what. Then the next time for which I run through the game than I can play either an evil or good whichever my heart desires and skip the ones for which don't work out with the current play  style at the time.

Now I tried to go to the site and order some of the DLCs but it was down for maintenance so I guess I'll just have to keep checking back over there. Will download them to the h.d. and than install them and run through them as well. That way the next play through for which I do I can really sculpt it to my liking.<G>

Ok thought that I would ask and see if you or someone new any more about them. If they aren't to much I just might go ahead and download them and check them out for myself and I'll let you know what I think of them.

Mehrunes' Razor was short but probably the most fun out of all the DLC IMO.

The Vile Lair, Fighter's Stronghold, Thieves' Den, Orrery, there are free mods you can download if you are on PC that do a better job of making all of these sorts of quests and player houses. I'm surprised that the anniversary edition did not come with all these smaller DLC.

The Shadowcrest Vineyard mod provides a much better player house than any of these IMO. And there are hundreds of other quest and faction mods available, some of them really good.

Mannimarco was very easy to defeat. That was kind of disappointing.

Mages in general are easy to defeat (unless you're weak to Magicka or something), and they give some of the best loot, like tons of potions and scrolls.  This makes the Mages Guild quests some of the most lucrative in the game.

But I think Mannimarco was so easy because of the Plot Coupon Traven gave you (the Collosal Soul Gem with his soul in it).  At least, that would make sense.
