KotorEffect3- I sure will if I ever get the chance to buy them and download them.

Naughty99-Where that might be true there is the fact of getting mods to play nice not only with one another but with the game itself when you install them. Don't know if I've got the time or the patience for that there.<G> As for playing on the Pc of course I play on the pc.

gammamegon- Your right he was to easy IMO for a supposed boss. I was hoping for more than a two hit fight with him. One when I hit him with Umbra and the 2nd when he hit the ground dead. Had a cave with a bunch of goblins in it that gave me more trouble than he did.

Wizardryforever- well yes for the most part mages are easy. But as for the loot they have that would all depend. You see I've got more potions and scrolls than I know what to do with currently and have been selling them off. Some of the ones for which do High damage I'll keep and use though due to the fact that it saves on magicka. I usually carry about 6 welkynd<sp?> stones and have them in readily available in a quick slot for the tough battles. I've got a couple of hundred of them and they instantly replace all your magicka.

randdumb vanguard-well for this being an ancient thread you sure did.<G> Or are you bored and decided to do some trolling? As you can see there are folks that do still post here and still play the game.

To the OP:
Yes I have started playing Oblivion again because I want to get the feel of the game back before I play Skyrim.

There are only two races I will ever be, either the Breton or the High Elf. The other races don't really have any good bonuses, so a boost to Magika isn't bad. Sure the High Elf takes a hit, especially if you add the apprentice to it, but it can become the most dangerous in the end. Trouble at the start, destruction in the end.

I read on another forum that they redid all races, so does anyone know a link or have photos of the new looks?

Now there is another thread here in the off topics "The ElderScrolls V: Skyrim that has lots of information in regards to photos of the different races, links to game plays etc. Just check the off topics area it should be on the first page. Now you only have to check the last dozen or so pages.

Ok folks I've seen a couple of funny things happen while playing through Oblivion. One of them was the first time for which I seen a skeleton pull himself back together and come at you once again. Another was the deer in the game running along and leaping into the water. But this next one reall got me. I was in this one dungeon and one room had a big hole in it that you could drop down into. Well there was one of them Land Deidra near it facing away from me. So I went into stealth mode using my bow and arrows of immolation<sp?> which I picked up who knows where. I nailed him in the back. He goes flying down into the pit landing upside down. I figured the thing was dead. After all sneak attack with an arrow to the back with x3 damage than falling 20ft and landing on it's head. Now way could something surrive that. But the thing got up as if nothing had happened and came running back up. So I did the only thing I could I hit him with the Finger of the Mountain and put him down for good.<LOL>

I know that cave! Full of nasty things with expensive ingredients. Usually it's me who falls down the hole by mistake though
But it's a good way out if you're overwhelmed by the enemy and have good acrobatic skills.

The most wierd situation for me was when I was snuck up on by a goblin. I swear, the filthy little thing came from nowhere! Since I've been sneaking up on another goblin I soon had two of them attacking me instead of only one. The skeleton thing is a classic too. After all these years I still get surprised when they do that.

Was just in one of the Aleiyd<sp> ruins just a bit ago and was going along and  Got into a confrontation with a Litch no problem till two more showed up to join their undead friend. Spells and Welkynd stones save my butt in that battle but I loved it. With the Skeletons the funny thing about it is when you've shattered them all over the place and they still manage to pull themselves back together.

Well I just finished up with another Misc quest for which I've been putting off that had to do with Umbacono<sp?> Another boss fight that was relative simple to say the least. But it was satisfying in the fact that I killed both Umbacon and that fool Claude Maric whom attacked me once before and after I killed his 3 companions he ran with his tail between his legs.<G>

Now I've got two crowns one of Lindai the Nenalata worth over 21k septims for the both of them together. Which is sweet but From what I remember none of the venors would even give you a 1/5th of what they are worth. The abilities aren't bad on them though.

Well my character is at level 11 now. Other than that nothing new to report just doing a combination of stealing and fencing stuff, dungeon diving, and completing contracts.

Well decided to load up an orc warrior I started a few months who is still low level. Mainly because I felt like a change of pace and I felt like bashing stuff with blunt weapoins lol.

Nothing wrong with that there I think its cool. I'm currently in Shivering Isles and will have to admit that it's interesting so far to say the least. Image IPB

How many different games do you have going on? I've got a hard enough time keeping up with one. Currently got to go get something called the Chalice of reversal back.

Now to get in I had to take something called "Felldew which raised  my strength by 20 and a couple of other stats.
Not sure how often I've got to take it or if its just this once or what will let you know.<LOL>

BTW Does anyone know much about this sword called Duskfang/Dawnfang? I realize that it's a couple of swords in one and that killing 12 enemies with it makes it more powerful version. But does both parts of the sword need to be re-charged as if it were 2 seperate weapons? If so thats an awful lot of soul gems.

Well now I'll have to admit that I've never been on that has been real big on magic either. Currently I'm playing a thief assasin type and will have to admit that so far he's working out great. I'm finding out that I made a mistake in Shivering Isles by not going through and locating everything before I started quests. Now with about a dozen quest under my belt in that DLC I'm working on exploring the whole map. And you would think that I'd know better by now. Especially as long as I've been playing games like this here.<G>

I'm curious if anyone knows whether or not the Crystal chests for which are in Shivering Isles respawn after a certain amount of time?

Just taken my Dunmer thief girl to the Shivering isles...I don't think she'll ever get to cast finger of the mountain (she has 90 mana and [if I remember rightly] the cost is over 1000...comes from having a character who is rubbish at magic learn the spell at level 21)

Well now I'll have to admit that I doubt that it's 1000 magicka for which you need. I got Finger of the MTN @ level 20 and I had to have 100 in destruction. Magicka cost is 143 and it does 90 pts of damage.

So have you really done anything in the Isles yet? I've done about a 1/2 dozen or so quests. Didn't realize there was so much that could be done not only in the game in general but just in Shivering Isles. But I'm enjoying the game.

Today I went crazy and created a character who is supposed to be as peaceful as possible. I even created a class called "Pacifist" for him. I'm roleplaying him as a priest with no offensive skills except destruction.
So far it's been really fun since this character takes his "priesthood" seriously, which means no excessive armor, weapons and clutter in my inventory, helping everyone with every foolish wish they have and no claim for money (I almost cried when I had to toss away a dwarven armor with heavy armor +8 because he didn't need it). It really is a change compared to how I usually play oblivion. XD

This is pretty much my first play through and I'm playing a sniper.<custom character> He mainly uses a Bow and stealth  Now I don't know if I'd be willing to try a character for which you are trying to play through with. After all I'd think that would limit you as you wouldn't be able to do 2 of the factions quests at all like the thief or assasin guilds.

I'm curious as to where you found the +8 heavy armor at as I dont ever remember an set of armor giving +8 and I've done about 1/4 to 1/3 of the game right now. I've don't most of the misc quests as well as for the full TG, MG, and DB I've also done Knights of the Nine and I'm currently working on Shivering Isles with about 8 or 9 of those quests all finished up. He's a Dunmer currently wearing a full set of Daedric heavy armor some pieces enchanted. Now currently I'm getting ready to start a S.I. quest about "Retaking the Fringe".  Once I complete that there I'm going to go back to Cyrodill and drop some stuff off @ my house and come back and work on it some more. From what I see from the UESP there are lots of quests in the DLC Shivering Isles and I've done none of the Misc and about 1/2 of the main quest items. Think I'll work on the Misc quests when I get back from droping things off @ home.

Oblivion sucks.

A: The storyline is useless and not logical at all.

First you have these portals which are suppose to be the herald of some incomming invasion.
And in the beginning of the game, they pop up slowly. But a few hours into the game, they pop
up EVERYWHERE, and i fail to see how the invasion would be a problem when the demons
are opening so many portals they literally cover the landscape..

B: The levelup system was crap, even according to Elderscroll fans.

You go into a cave at level 1, and fight level 1 rats.  At the end of the game, you go back into
the same cave, and beat up level 25 rats...   The enemies leveled up WITH you, which was
a huge failure by the developers.  And don't just hate me, you know damn well this system
got a lot of critisicm by many fans of the series.

You could in a sence, beat the game on level 1 .

Well now I do have some of the Madness matrices I've got the Cuirass, greaves, helmet, shield and sword. There are only a couple of others that I'm interested in the Gauntlets and boots. Haven't had them made yet though. Right now I'm working on retaking the Fringe. Going to wait to have the armor made due to  the fact I want to go to cyrodil and drop off a bunch of stuff first. Then when I come back I'll work on some Misc quests that others have given me in there.

Are you getting the Madness<heavy armor> made or working on the one with the amber?

Dreez- I'm curious as to what portals for which your talking about that are poping up all over the place? You talking about the ones in Cyrodil or the crystal ones in Shivering Isles? As for the game in general I'll have to admit that its not that bad at all. Allot better than what DA2 2 was by far. Just wish that there were better merchants to sell some of my high end stuff to.
