I just started replaying this game earlier this week. Playing a redguard, i used the Staff of the Everscamp training regime fresh out of prison. I'm level 24 with all attributes excluding luck, and personality maxed out. All my combat skills and spells mastered minus restoration, blunt, athletics, and h2h are mastered. After completing the Staff of the Everscamp quest, i've a whole set of ebony, deadric armor with a matching pair of claymores, and longswords.

Earlier today feeling like i'm ready, feeling like a G, i decided to travel to Cheydinhal to get my first mage guild referral in my quest for enchantments. Taking the road east of the imperial city, I'm halfway to Cheydinhal, then suddenly out of nowhere ( forgot to stealthImage IPB) i find myself brawling with two ungodly minotaur lords. The damage they're dishing out is rediculous. My deadric armor is in ruins, and i'm running low on potions, so i decided to GTFO. Since i can't fast travel i run south figuring i can get these twin freaks into a fight with a patrolling imperial.

On the way south the s*** hits the fan when i accidently aggro a goblin warlord, witch and the imperial near the lake shore. During the 3 way brawl with the minotaurs, goblins, the imperial dies. Lol with a thud from the a minotaur's hammer the imperials crippled body soars 10 feet through the air skidding on the cobblestones. With the goblins and the minotaurs going at it, and lake in view i jumped in and swam the f*** out of there.

Long story short, the level scaling is fubar.Image IPB

Now do you have a full set of ebony or Daedric armor as they are two different sets? Ebony is light armor.  Have you not done any of the shrine quests as of yet. After all @ Lvl 24 and being maxed out like you are you should have some awesome weapons by now like the Umbra and goldenrod swords to name a couple of them. What difficulty level are you playing on?

^I have a full set of ebony and deadric armor. Even though I'm @ level 24 the only quest i completed was To Whom the Gods Annoy (Staff of the Everscamp training method). About the shrine quests i figured i would complete them after i get access to the altar of enchantment, and make an uber sword.

Seeing the folly of my ways i'm going to start collecting the deadric artifacts. When i get a chance later i'm going to do Boethia quest for Goldbrand, Peryite for Spell Breaker then kill that chick in Vindasel for Umbra. Also good point about the difficulty i'll check it when i play later.

Now I don't understand how you've been able to obtain level 24 and have only done just one minor side quest? I'm level 35 and I had to do all of the misc and faction quests as well as for most of the main quest to get him that high. Oh yes and this includes the daedric shrine and the DLC's Knights Of the nine and Shivering Isles.

Now if you've played through the game before you should know that by doing the Daedric shrine quests you could get a couple of great swods Umbra and Goldbrand. As for Umbra I don't really use that sword much as I used one of the Sigil stones and a Daedric bow and created a bow called "Soul stealer" Pretty cool to be honest with you there. Especially since I use stealth and a bow mainily.

Now out of curiousity are you playing the game on console or PC? Are you getting Skyrim?

I think I'm going to do a very quick re-play of Oblivion soon just to beat the main story. I think I spent over 400 hours on it, but I've never beaten the campaign. I wish they made it to where these games had some sort of time-frame or something. I like how Alpha Protocol handled it to where if you mess around before meeting a contact they call you out.

Well now the reason for which they don't have a time frame on a game like Oblivion is due to the fact of it's size. After all TES games aren't ones you can get through in a few hours they give you some game play  for your money. And if you're like me with this being my first play through of the game I've went through and closed 58 oblivion gates so far. I need to find one more than I am going to close the main gate.

With 6 days til Skyrim I'm hoping to have the whole thing finished out by then so I can start that one.

Does anyone have experiences with sneaking up on sleeping bandits? or guards? I just once encountered sleeping bandits in a cave, else they always wandered around 24/7 even when they hadn't noticed me, this is awful! >:G

I plan on playing Oblivion again since it's been a year or two since I last played. I got a few trillion hours into it already.

Ah! :D Do you have any idea where you can store items so that they don't disappear? :D I am sadly pretty new to the game even when it has been around for some time already.

The best place is the purchasable house in the Imperial City. A few dungeon crawls will give you enough money to purchase it, and all of the containers inside of houses are safe and do not reset.

Ahhh yeaa makes sense. I so far have Benirus manor which... is not exactly a cozy place. :D But good to know, there I can unload all my items then. Thanks! :D

Yep. Modded Oblivion easily surpasses Skyrim and Morrowind. But it all depends on which mods you get.

Really? I thought the modding for Oblivion paled compared to what there was for Morrowind and Skyrim?

Just play Nehrim.  It actually makes Oblivion tolerable.

How do I create a list through OMOD? I know you can do it somehow. I have a ton a mods, and some of the best written story mods from a guy called Simyaz. A real fan of BG2 and Planescape: Torment (you can tell by the name, if you remember BG2.)

WHAT?!

Apart from Tamriel Rebuilt, there ain't much for Morrowind. And Skyrim? What's to mod? You can't bloody mod your game without a patch coming up and ruining things, then you have the Navmesh bug that's been around since FO3, making great lore mods (like The Elder Council, Origins of the Mages Guild, Kvatch Rises, all of them by Giskard btw) impossible to do.

This is why I can't really understand the communities reaction of DA:O's mods. Granted, there are great things, but 3/4 of DA:O's mods consists of headmorphs and re-skins. If you dig deep enough into Oblivion, you can find new cities (Sutch Reborn) new continents (Morroblivion) and even BioWare/Obsidian standard story mods with HOURS of content (Ruined-Tail's tale, Tears of the Fiend, Malevolent.) There's even a huge expansion packed for the Blades called reclaiming Sancre-Tor with over 30hours of content.

If I had the time I would have to pick up the PC version of Oblivion then. What is this navmesh bug you refer to?

See OP the question to ask isn't Do you play Oblivion. But does it PLAY YOU!? For all we know this whole world, this whole reality might just be a game. In fact well might just be pixels on some super nerds screen that has fun with us all the while trying to get us to lower our guard so they can remove all the doors and set the house on fire.

It's an AI bug, basically it really messes with any of the AI in a room, ****ing up any attempt at complex mods. I learnt this via Giskard, if you head over to The Engineering Guild, he'll give you a good 30min rant about it xD

Is it when NPCS can't walk across a room or are blocked by invisible walls?

And I didn't realise Oblivion had such a massive modding community. I really need to get around to playing my PC version.

I can't run oblivion on my laptop, all I am missing is the memory :(
On console I see it on sale at gamestop with both dlcs and sometimes with Bioshock but I'm like "what's the point"
