Thanks for the link. I'm convinced with the likes of FCOM you can spend all your time keeping it up to date with no need to get round to actually playing it.Mystic dream wrote...
You can find the 3.7 version of MMM at tesnexus www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php
Not sure if it's the latest, but that's the latest i could find there.
Does anyone still play Oblivion?

With my canon Bosmer Battlemage named Zelda I'm at 386 hours combined. After I'm done I'm retiring this game for a long, long time.
I hope some of my favorite weapons are in Skyrim. I want Apotheosis in Skyrim as a side quest as an ancient artifact from the Champion of Cyrodiil.
I love, love, love dungeon crawling in this game. Although with the Skeleton Key and a side focus in Security picking locks is super easy
Finally got the Master Ambelic tonight in a dungeon right outside Sheogorath's Oblivion Realm to finally have a complete master set of alchemy instruments

Another place I just found for the first time - a tavern in City Isle (pretty sure this was added by Better Cities). The proprietor likes to smoke a pipe, apparently.

After I got over just kind of walking around and appreciating the beautiful cities and landscapes, I got tired of playing because I hated the level scaling.
There was no point in doing anything, and no point in leveling my character. Everything was always going to be exactly the same power level as I was - I could have just stayed at level one and played the whole game. For me, that was a disincentive to build my character, and character building is half the fun to me in an RPG.

Do any of you Oblivion fans know if there's a mod that changes the level scaling implementation?

Yes, the best is FCOM, which is a combination of Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Martigen's Monster Mod, Francesco's Leveled Lists and Oblivion Warcry.
After installling FCOM and Duke Patricks, I was playing a completely different game, as far as the combat encounters go.

I don't knwo if I'll go back to it or not. I'm so excited for the new features of Skyrim, Oblivion seems disappointing as silly as that seems.

FCOM does make things a lot more interesting. I became afraid to travel beyond the Red Road (the one that circles Lake Rumare) until well after level five: I discovered the hard way that foolhardy ventures really did not end well! On the other hand, creatures that were a nuisance didn't simply disappear, they just became less of a nuisance. The loot was also an awful lot more interesting, and it was nice that I didn't just encounter random bands of nameless bandits and marauders but some of them had some well-deserved infamy all of their own. Made Cyrodiil a far more interesting place... and one where you had to watch your step: but it was nice that they balanced it by making sure not everything was a psychotic killer, so it was enjoyable seeing a harmless spriggan going for a wander while she chuckled to herself or a bunch of wild boars snuffling about without spontaneously deciding that my insides would look much better as my outsides.naughty99 wrote...

It also CTD's every time I exit the game, which worries me about whether I might get corrupted saves.
As long as my saves don't get corrupted, though, it's worth it for the enhancements.

I started a new playthrough a couple of months back, in preparation for Skyrim, but I had to put it down after a couple of days...the graphics and GUI were painful. Back in its day, it was perfectly acceptable, but there has been lots of gaming competition to come out since then, which makes Oblivion a little...meh...in comparison.
It will always hold a special place in my heart, but for now, I'm just looking forward to checking out Skyrim.

sounds like you need to try the game with mods that tremendously improve the visuals, such as Qarl's hi res textures, OBGEv2, Unique Landscapes, Tamriel NPCs Revamped, Elaborate Eyes, Advanced Windows Lighting System, ENBSeries Shaders, Natural Environments, and/or a mod that improves the UI, like Darnified UI or BTmod
