This is a character support thread dedicated to Samara.  At this time, I'm not adding an extensive OP, but we can change that.

I like Samara because while she does serve as a resource on asari culture, she's a substantial character in her own right.  I think she's interesting because of the mysteriousness of her person - she is a reserved individual, but at the same time, she is accommodating of Shepard's curiosity.  There are minor aspects of her character that she does not show directly, but that can be seen through observation, such as smiles of amused happiness when being asked questions aboard the Normandy, her solemn sadness at the death of her daughter, and her tragic inner-turmoil when being romantically pursued by Shepard.  What I like the most, though, is how I get the feeling from the dialogue, and Shepard's body-language, that he/she is in the presence of someone who is both venerable and mysterious.

While some people are bothered by her dedication to Code, I think that it's an indication of successful writing, that people think so extensively about the intricacies of her character.

Samara does state that there are several things she plans to do after Shepard's mission, but If Shepard is primarily Paragon, Samara will tell him/her that she will return to help him/her.  We do know that all squadmates will return in some capacity if alive at the end of ME2.  I think that Samara will play some role in helping Shepard convince the asari to provide help in fighting the Reapers.  We also know that all of the returning characters will undergo some sort of change.  I can't wait to see what that means for Samara, in ME3.

Please keep it civil and troll-free in here.  As was stated above, aspects of Samara's character may bother people, but we can still be nice to one another.

I really love Samara.

Her elegance, her air of mystery, her strength of will, her discipline and dedication...the tragedy between her and her family, all of it make her an interesting character.

I'm always transfixed by how graceful Samara seems. He voice, speech, movement, appearance are all so regal. In terms of personality, she always seems so wise. She's dedicated to the Code, but she's intelligent and resourceful enough to work within its boundaries without doing something seemingly foolish (like asking Shepard to help with her mission so she doesn't have to kill the police officer). Many of her comments seem insightful and intelligent. Despite how unbelievably hard it is for her, she takes responsibility for Morinth's actions and hunts her down because of it. And even though Morinth is a homicidal sociopath, Samara clearly still loves her and it breaks her heart to kill her. Athough she seems quite cool and distant at first, she's actually very friendly and seems to be happy to accomodate Shep's curiosity about justicars and the asari. I even loved Samara's romantic subplot with Shep, because her turning down Shepard was so in-character for her. For her develop a romantic relationship with Shepard wouldn't have seemed right to me.

I always see my paragon Sheps having a strong platonic friendship with Samara, and her "I will come for you, Shepard" line always makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I'm worried about how she will react to a reunion with my renegades in ME3 though!

I also get the feeling she might play an important part in convincing the asari government to help, because of how respected justicars are, and I can see her thoroughly immersed in protecting her people when Shep finally catches up to her.

+1 for Samara. I'm not too keen on romancing Samara though, I prefer her as "the one that got away". But Samara is probably my favorite new character from ME2 (with Miranda, Mordin and Morinth tied for second place).

 Very nice OP York.

@Siansonea

I'm torn about any possible Samara romance, part of me would like nothing better for her to be romanceable and another part of me agrees with you with the whole "one that got away" vibe.

If Mass Effect 3 doesn't let me close the deal with Samara, I will cry tears. I have her room just the way she left it, looking out on the great empty void.

Samara is the single best character from ME2, aside from the repeats of ME1, she is number one above all the new ones, such as Thane and Miranda.

She's my favorite new character in ME2.

I generally play paragon anyway, but she really motivated me to it even more, because I found that I valued her friendship, wisdom, and even approval. Shepard, in both games, had to serve as a leader for everyone. My Colonist/Sole Survivor Shepard comes to view her as something of a surrogate mother figure. She's the only person with enough wisdom and experience to serve as something of a mentor for Shepard, at least when Anderson's not around.

I support my favorite fruit fly. She is gorge and graceful. And IMPCO she's the best written character besides Mordin. I really hope she gets a bigger role because hers was by far undeservedly tiny in ME2.b- She is not Liara's little replacement, she's too well written for that.

Samara should never - ever - be a romance option. Her Code forbids it.

Samara was Shepard's only equal in my eyes. She understands the tough choices Shepard has to make.

I would have LOVED to have seen the other female characters - or even Thane, Grunt, or Mordin have dialogue with her. Thane because of his religious convictions - Mordin because of his intelligence and curiosity about spirituality - and Grunt for the idea of self-mastery.

Miranda - for self worth. Tali - for self confidence. Jack for self-mastery.

====

Come to think of it... Jack would be an amazing disciple of Samara. I want that to happen so badly.

The world does need any more self righteous sociopaths.  We don't need the ruin a perfectly good character with the universes silliest morality systems.

Yeah, I think she said it was more of a personal thing because of what happened to her daughters. Still fits that she wouldn't want to start another relationship with Shepard for that reason though.

Possible conversation trees I would like to have with Samara in ME3;

- Join me (duh!)
- Daughters
- The Code amidst mass chaos
- A warrior's legacy

I love Samara, she's the biotic sensai to my Personal Shep. Even though we have different ideologies due to her black and white code and my belief in a world of grey, our bond of teacher and student has cemented a strong friendship (and my equally strong appreciation of her character).

Anybody else feels this kind of bond with her character? She does a wonderful job of adding wisdom and maturity to the crew, and I feel it will be greatly missed in ME3.

 Hey, you need a face to your topic. Same thing I did to the Jack and Liara thread. "Art that's displayed is not mine but belong to their respective owners" Enjoy.

The "I may return here" and the picture below it the last one are my favorites out of those.

The "return here" one shows off her wonderful eyes nicely as well as gives a short quote of hers that demonstrates both an ideal of hers and her preparedness for combat.

The one below last one is the best show of her biotics IMHO.

EDITS:changed my mind on one of th pictures.

Well said ReallyRue, and I too feel warm and fuzzy after Samara's " I will come for you, Shepard" line.

IIRC Didn't Samara's writer move onto Blizzard? I liked her character a lot. Hope the new writer(s) due her justice(pun intended). If she gets a romance arc, I will make a Shepard just for her.
