I've sort of picked up my drive to write more Mass Effect regards Shepard/Samara. If anyone would like to look into that:

Dreaming After Death

Half venting own feelings and half legit character development for my Shep regards everything.

I like what I am reading so far. :)

Also, Is it true that there is no extra dialog for having done the attempted romance with Samara? Bioware said that there would be. :(

There is a small difference, when you say farewell to Samara on the Citadel.

(Of course now I'm paranoid that it's not firing...)

Like with the LotSB and Liara's first conversation on the Normandy about being years?  When it had been months?

Yeah, although it worked in testing. The line that changes with Samara is a lot more subtle and doesn't directly allude to Shepard's attempted romance of her in ME2, so that could be it.

I would love to know exactly what it was, because the whole game has left my recall of whole conversations a bit fuzzy. I just remember her telling Shepard to spend what time she have with people who care about her.

Something along those lines anyway.

I think its about her caring about you when she comes to say goodbye? I had the convo and I remember thinking one line was sort of about the almost-romance.

I liked her cameo, but it felt short and didn't have enough Samara in it. Not as bad as Jacob's, but not as good as Jack's.

I would love to hear the difference... although if it's that subtle that no one caught it, well... T_T.

That is indeed the "tried to romance variation". If you don't, she says you'll both be tested in fire soon enough.

Hm? Is the bolded something she says to Shepard? I definetely don't remember that, but got her loyalty so that might change lines or what happens anyway.

I hear Grunt's loyalty changes if he survives his "You Shall Not Pass" moment so...

This is during the meeting on the Citadel, yes?  Glad to know there's a little something of a recognition of the "almost-romance".  Too bad Shepard can't spend some of that time with Samara :crying:

So that was the acknowlegdement? I did pick that up, I loved the line, but I thought it was just something she said for all Shepards.

Are there any other differences beside that line?

Suppose Samara is stuck on Earth. It can happen it at least one ending. What happens now? It's not her jurisdiction. Does she cooperate with local authorities? Does she suspend her Justicar duties indefinitely? If Shepard is there, and alive, if that's what the "Good End" hints at, does she take the Oath of Subsumation indefinitely, to cooperate with local authorities and Shepard, on faith that he/she will guide people rightly in rebuilding?

Thanks. Looking at this thread, I regret I didn't put in a little more branching for the "tried to romance" fans, but we had a pretty strict line budget near the end.

I absolutely must give props to Samara's voice actress on doing outstanding job, by the way. It was a pleasure to listen to Maggie Baird recording her lines.

Sylvyf, is Ms. Baird as serene a person as Samara makes her seem? Can/will you say?

I don't believe Ms. Baird would mind my saying she seemed like a warm, friendly lady. The regality she brings to Samara is a testament to her acting and a wonderful voice, I think.

While more dialog would be nice. I still think you people managed to make a satisfying conclusion to the romance. I cannot speak for anyone else, but in the context of my Shepard's story, Samara's wish for Shepard really felt meaningful.

I think Maggie Baird is one of the best VA's in this series.

I'll admit, now that I know that that line is there, it makes me want to be able to tell Samara that she's the person I want to spend some of my remaining time with. Still, as I said earlier, being told by Samara that she's proud of me, and that she has the utmost faith in me, that's like...I don't know, Anderson telling Shepard that he/she "did good, kid" at the end, but even more than that.  Samara's seen so much, and she has such a powerful, wise and regal air about her, that it's humbling to be complimented by her. It's just profound, that's the only word that describes the feeling it gives me.

Having a writer around makes me nervous about the precision of my analysis of the Ardat-Yakshi Monastery mission and the meeting with Samara on the Citadel.

:crying:

But I go by my motivational poster; "This is what fanfiction is for!"

It's nice though, and I said this to another friend, without the attempted romance, she speaks to you like a fellow warrior.

With it however, it's like she's showing concern and genuine care about Shepard's emotional state rather than just mental focus.

Wait, the lines are read differently between the romanced and non-romanced states?

Romanced she holds your hand and tells you to spend what time you have with people who care about you, that came across as caring to me.

But non-romanced, unless I'm wrong, all she says is that you will both be tested in fire soon enough.

I need to see a video of how she says the latter to prove my perspective.
