*dreamy sigh* Oh Samara, not only are you incredibly beautiful, but you are challenging as hell to write.

No kidding.

Every five seconds there's a tiny voice in my brain on loop going "Does it sound right? Does it sound right? Does it sound right?"

And I'm just sitting there like "._. I don't know..."

exactly. I had to convince myself to make her more emotional when dealing with Morinth and then I was glad when she was willing to kill herself rather than kill felare and break the justicar code by doing so. of course I paragon interupted the hellout of her and disarmed her, but it was nice to see that there was some "Samara" still in there rather than her being all "Justicar Samara"

Ohh Samara:wub:! You stole my heart now it's not the same I'm falling

I also am having a hard time writing dialogue that sounds like something she'd say. Granted she's easier than some characters for me!

I don't know how to write dialogue for Samara, either. Must be intimidating for any new writer, Bioware or not, to try to make her lines sound authentic. Part of it is with Ms. Baird, I'm certain.

I would be okay with this scenario Visii. /half-joking

And you actually gave me an idea, so thank you.

And to my knowledge, her dialogue on Earth is the same.

I'm so *half-serious* about it.

What idea, pray tell?

A one-shot I did a while ago concerning how my Shepard would react if Samara died during the war with the Reapers.

Fractured Soul

TL;DR version - Shepard falls to pieces and essentially "becomes" a Justicar by wearing Samara's symbols (the gold ones on a black recon hood) and spends the rest of her existence as Garrus did on Omega. No shortage of punishing the wicked there.

Basically I thought of a milder version of it to use.

*SPOILER*  Can someone please answer me this question? Is Samara alive? Like in the Destroy ending when the reapers are destroyed by that big wave of flames that swept over earth or the mass relays being destroyed did any of that kill her? Does anyone know or can guess if she is alive? I hope so. Samara is one of my favorite character's

Samara is on Earth at the end of ME3. Since you can get an ending where Earth is not devastated in the final battle, yes, it's possible that Samara is very much alive.

I get an image in my head of Shepard attending the obligatory after-victory ceremony, if such a thing could be arranged in the aftermath of the final battle. After recovering from his severe injuries, the Commander gives a speech. During his speech, he doesn't see Samara in the crowd of attendees, of which there are thousands, due to the number of people present. After he finishes, however, Shepard limps around, trying to find the Justicar in the sea of faces. When he finally finds her, she sees him first, and they meet eyes from a distance. Samara remains composed, inwardly happy, but outwardly indifferent. He hobbles closer, and Samara opens her mouth to speak, but Shepard seizes her in a hug before she can say a word. She smiles slightly, and hugs the Commander back.

Out-of-character? Would Samara hug back, if she knew people were watching who might recognize he as a Justicar?

Samara may be certain of what she needs, but she also needs hugs. -nods-

Well when Samara's daughter Falere hugged she just kind of went all frozen and stiff, yet I felt that someone was just lazy in that whole scene and cut lots of animations and stuff out of it. So much seemed out of place and missing from it.

I know what my Shepard would do, he'd limp over to her to great her with a hug but upon moving in he'd put his weight on his bum leg so he started to fall, Samara would catch him and steady him than Shepard would lean in and kiss her.

Or else when Samara opens her mouth to speak Shepard would hug her and move in for the kss.

Damnit Shepard is tired of keeping his Romance relationship behind closed doors, stop hiding it, be more public!

Due to my requesting it, someone came through with marvellous silliness: Samara Dancing

I find it funnier than I probably should.

*ahem*

I like both your ideas. I can see the Shepard in question being so tired and relieved that they just don't care, "damnit, I want to hug the person I care about!"

Though actually, with the scene in the monastery, she does freeze up but she returns the hug. It's just that her arms don't wrap around Falere, the camera angle makes it a little hard to notice her hands move.

With the way she behaves, we could guess that physical contact with others was limited to what was necessary over those 400 years of hunting Morinth.

Suddenly being hugged by the daughter you haven't seen in centuries is probably awkward at best. (Then heartwarming after the initial awkwardness wares off. ;))

With the mission now refreshed in my head I am off to attempt the third chapter of Dreaming After Death. The fall of Thessia, so many feels...

Gee, going to steal a kiss from Samara?  My Shepard would never be so audacious.  He'd be injured enough already.

Maybe he'd be both relieved and injured enough to think she wouldn't possibly hit an injured person. :D

Ashira, did you get the hand-holding response from Samara?  I'm hearing that the "almost-romance" trigger was removed altogether because they couldn't get it to work, but the Bioware writer in this thread said it's just bugged.

Yes, she definitely took my Shepard's hand. I even got a screenshot and made a motivational about it...specifically because with a Femshep (don't know about dudeshep) clipping issues make it look like the backs of their hands are touching rather than holding hands.

But yes. I got the holding hands response.

Every scene has a corresponding file that basically puts the scene in to a stage direction/screenwriting format.  The Gibbed page has all of these files transcribed on to a single page.  If this information isn't a fake, this is the writing for the Samara and Shepard meeting on the Citadel.

1: Smiling. Proud of her friend's accomplishments.
2: Smiling. Proud of her friend's accomplishments.
3: Samara takes Shepard's hand, squeezes it lightly. Hint of regret.
4: Samara looks out over the Citadel for a moment.
5: A tense moment. Samara and Shepard are in a stand-off.
6: Samara takes a moment to really consider her next words.

Smiling?  "Hint of regret"?  Did any of those things show in the hand-holding scene?
