When the news broke out, I immediately changed my password. That was a week ago. And now I got the email and password reset. Why did it take a week to reset the passwords? Not good.

This is my interpretation from the official posts:

There were two waves of password resets. The first wave occured 9 days ago when the hackers breached the legacy server. All breached accounts were closed, and EA accounts linked to those breached accounts had their passwords reset. People with affected accounts would have received an e-mail at this time.

Yesterday, a second wave of password resets were sent out to all EA account users with a request to change their password AS A PRECAUTION. People who received an e-mail yesterday or today did NOT have their accounts breached; Bioware/EA is simply playing it safe.

This is my take on the situation as well. I think it would be very helpful for Bioware/EA to confirm this.

In relation to people concerned about the use of the word 'may' I suspect that's a fudge word being used to protect themselves rather than because they actually believe you're account 'may' have been breached.

Ideally I think Bioware/EA need to send out an official clarification email to reassure users. There are too many posts and update posts. To my mind these need to be consolidated into an official statement.

Got an e-mail today, this would be good news for me if this is true.
Otherwise, why did it take 9 days for me to recieve an email about this?

Seems the only thing keeping me on this site is the auto-login feature (how, I don't know, since my password should be outdated), I have received the e-mail yesterday and requested a new password with the link provided twice, no answer yet.

I can't play with games linked to my account and I can't change my account manually because it asks for the password I haven't recieved yet.

EDIT: Yes, I have checked my spam box.

I know I should feel bad about wishing the hackers could have done more damage so you realize this account DRM thing is really annoying, but somehow I can't find any reason to do so.

This is scary stuff. Having played NWN for 7 years, I don't even remember my CD keys. That was my reason for having them online in the first place (so I could go back to them when I needed to reinstall the game).

I cannot log into my EA account, and when I request an email from them nothing shows up...

I was worried my account has been hacked but now I learn that EA reset all the passwords yesterday?

I'm relieved to see that others are having the same problem so It's not just me. It's a good thing I don't log out too much or I'd be more upset. I've requested a password change several times "just in case" but I haven't been e-mailed anything yet. I just sent out the requests yesterday so...

If you click on the "forgot my password" link they will reset and send you an email, I did this as I wasn't going to be clicking links in emails :)

Same for me, couldn't login to my local EA site (electronicarts.se) kept throwing out an errormessage about email and password not matching anything in their records (and it still does).

But (and I think I have said this 100 times already), I could login with my account on ea.com and changed my password, and when doing that, the password here changed automatically.

Mithos-SWE,

Thanks. But the only thing I get when trying to get ea.com to change my password is this message:
"This service is currently unavailable. Please try again later or contact Customer Support if the problem persists."

And this is what happens when using the forgot password feature of the EA support site:
"Internal Server Problem. Please try again later."

I would go as far as to say that this is really a big letdown for me, I had a lot of spare time this
weekend and just because of this mess I cannot play my games. EA must fix this. Or at least
give the people stuck in the same boat as me, some heads up on what's happening!

Okay, so I called EA.

It seems their email server is not working, that's why I can't get a new password.

Seems EA is under a big attack.

Now it's Battlefield Heroes (same system to enter, due to EA account):

Battlefield Heroes is Offline
We are currently investigating an apparent security breach
related to our free-to-play Battlefield Heroes franchise. We are
working to identify which accounts were affected and will take all
precautions to ensure those players are notified as quickly as possible.
We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to have the game back
online shortly.

BTW, no mail from EA regarding the BF:H matter, yet.

Can someone please tell me what to do when I've lost access to my account, with neither a notification from Bioware before it happened, and after 7 tries the last 24 hours STILL haven't received an email with instructions on how to create a new password for it?? I've started a new account just to be able to post here. What the h... is going on? Have I lost my DA and NWN cd keys?

The E-mail server is not working at the moment, as stated above. Hope it will be settled soon, so you can get your PWD reset mail.

Really? I had problems with this account also, but got the email quite quickly for this. But for my proper account... Nada, zip, null....
Must admit I'm beginning to worry if someone has logged into my account and changed the email address - in which case it's no wonder I don't receive any mail; furthermore I've probably lost my profile, cd keys and probably should keep an eye on my credit card as well, as I've been so stupid as to purchase something online from this company.

I received the email. Just opened it, because it was in my spam-box.
Hm. Kind of creepy to receive it one day later. The text matches the edit of the op. It could just be copy+pasted. I had account problems. I have been logged out multiple times and had to login again manualy. I thought it has to do with uprgading to Firefox 4. This is just great. I have other passwords for the old forums and the bsn but I bough loads of dlc with paypal and now I've scared that this will be corrupted as well.

Come to think of it, I'm from germany and 3.30am my time is evening the day before this day their time.

Gods, now I'm even more confused.

Same here mate, although i never had NWN, nor have i ever been on that forum of NWN, so i wonder and worry at the same time if they have breached my account info, i certainly changed my pass manually here in bioware website, just to be on the safe side.

It's been over a week, do we still have any idea if our CD keys have ended up on a torrent site? I'm an NwN'er and I still have the booklet with my keys, however I do remembering to register my keys on there to access certain parts of the forums. If our CD key has been compromised what can we do to get them back? I don't have the receipt or box (at least that I know of with the box) anymore so the proof of sale is gone. However I still have the disc, and the CD keys... All these emails and statements are getting waaaaaaay too confusing. :(

this was addressed a few days ago heres the text from that guys post

We are continuing our investigation of the unauthorized intrusion of the
decade-old BioWare server system supporting the Neverwinter Nights
forums.  As we previously stated, we have determined that no credit card
data was compromised from the servers, nor did we ever have or store
sensitive data like social security numbers. Our investigation shows
that information such as user names, encrypted passwords, email
addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birth
dates from accounts on the server system associated with Neverwinter
Nights may have been compromised. Accordingly, in an abundance of
caution, we are emailing those whose accounts were potentially affected
and either disabling their forum accounts or resetting their EA Account
passwords.

We take the security of your information very
seriously and regret any inconvenience this may have caused our
customers and fans. If your username, email address and/or password on
your Neverwinter Nights account are similar to those you use on other
sites, we recommend changing your password at those sites as well. We
advise all of our fans to always be aware of any suspicious emails or
account activity and report any suspicious emails and account activity
to Customer Support at 1-877-357-6007. Aaryn FlynnStudio GM, BioWare

Still don't know if the email was legitimate. I logged out yesterday to see if my password was really changed. It was -.-

But I had a second computer with the autologin cookie and changed my password in my bsn-profile without the link in the email. I guess it was the same link I got but safety first.

Well, they disabled my account alright, but kept dead silent about it (no, you didn't email me about it, at least I haven't received any email from you), and still haven't answered a PM I sent yesterday. Yes, I know... It was Sunday. But it's late morning in Edmonton now unless I'm much mistaken about time zones, so really I had hoped for an explanation by this time.

As I said, I called EA and their email server isn't working. The guy I spoke to said that the Tier 3 tech guys at EA support would email me from another email server, but still I haven't received anything.

I am beginning to lose faith in EA.

I can't login to Origin nor can I log into anything else related to EA. I can't even follow my support
ticket because I can't login to the EA support site to see it.
