So i was looking around some E3 screenshots of Mass Effect 3 latley and then i saw this:

img585.imageshack.us/img585/4712/screenshot20110608at214.jpg

They are going to use that stupid flying Normandy  Mini-game again, i found this to be probably one of the most annoying changes they made in gameplay why? Because in the way the worked it out, it was too silly in my opinion, to fly a minutare normandy toy around that is bigger then most planets and can fly through suns and asteroids, way too childish in my opinion, not exactly a thing you would expect in a mature Sci-Fi game.

In addition of being totally out place,  It's was also rather unnecessary change, the ploting of a course system from the first game was perfectly fine, and unlike the inventory system wasn't confusing or cluttered and above all it worked, so why remove it them, they also seem to be using the planet overview from Mass effect 2 again and personally i prefered the one from the first game.

Alright i've added a poll on this subjects, please vote and post comments.

Well of course the size wasn't to scale.....It was just a stylized mini-mini game to give planet travel a sense of scale and time I guess...

I really dont have a problem with it one way or another honestly. I assume it was meant as a Time Sink more than anything else, and with probes and fuel it appeared to be a arbitrary money sink as well.

Yeah, this "navigating Normandy" thing got old pretty soon. Redundant & boring IMHO.

Yeah, did you ever noticed how big they are when compared to planets?

More loading screens is clearly a better solution.

Well all of the stuff shown in the E3 footage is subject to change since the game is still in development as it was and should be treated as a demo. A lot of things change in the span of a few months. The game has a set release date of March of next year, so I would assume (with no knowledge of how this works) that Bioware should have around half a year to work out any kinks.

While the ship navigating thing is kinda stupid using just the Galaxy Map seems kind of dull, since they pretty much scrapped the ME2 mining system from what I've heard I have no idea what the mini-Normandy "piloting" thing is for now (provided they keep it as is).

I like em to keep it because I'm used to it and wouldnt want to see another total revamp of that. Improve it a bit and then its fine in my opinion. I'm more interested to see what they'll do about the infamous Planet Scanning.

If they made them to scale, then people like you would complain about how small and impossible to find they were. Big deal, they arent to scale. For that matter, neither are the Mass Relays, but you havent said Boo about their size.

I was hoping they'd go with the E3 2006 Galaxy Map look. That really looked amazing.

As has been said before, they didnt actually develop thath galaxy map, it was just an animated sequence done for the demo.

lol what?

EVERYTHING (except the Reapers) takes place in the Milky Way. Yeah, you definitely need to play through the game.

Well, if hes serious, i think he was confusing "Milky Way" with "Local System" or something, thinking Milky Way refers to sun/earth system

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the moving ship around mini-game. Would much rather have a more streamlined and less load time version of ME1. With that said, it isn't worth it for me to have them spend anymore time on that aspect and would rather have them get the combat/interactions/weapon modifications done well as that will take up a lot more time than getting from place to place.

Yeah it didn't really add that much IMHO.

It was kinda boring and kinda non representative of space navigation / battle...

Besides... What on earth were all the other people doing on the bridge then (including joker) if I have to navigate?

Would have been more fun in paragon/renegade ways of barking orders at the crew.

I dont know about you, but i spun around in circles just to drive Joker nuts. He gets coddled too much.

I'm not a fan of the whole "Fuel Micro-Management" thing. It was fine ME1, point and go. It seems odd that they remove inventory management, but add in fuel usage. The main problem comes from the Probes though, becuase you can't carry many (even with the upgrade). I find myself hopping back and forth to top up on probes, which uses all my fuel. Give me enough probes to mine a cluster, and the mechanic would be fine. Instead I just waste time (and creds) going backwards and forwards.

^THIS throw a little 2011 shine on there and it'd be good enough for me so long as it looks as snappy as the demo footage. :wizard:

Yeah, thats the main problem with ME2's layout. Honestly, a small ship isnt much different then the cross hair cursor from ME1...both do about the same thing, only the ship needs fuel for whatever reason and stupid probes for a stupid mini-game

Blah, I was hoping they would ditch this 'feature'. As if flying around in a miniature Normandy isn't silly enough, they have to add a ridiculous fuel system which serves no purpose other than to annoy people.
