I liked the mini-game. It gave me more of a sense of attachment and helped me feel as though I was exploring things.

You do realize that the galaxy map was just an interface right? The Normandy wasn't actually flying through stars and planets.

Blah, I was hoping they would ditch this 'feature'. As if flying around in a miniature Normandy isn't silly enough, they have to add a ridiculous fuel system which serves no purpose other than to annoy people.

Systems like this are made to even out the player’s economy, they serve a small but important purpose.

I preferred it in ME1, where it felt like a map and not a really gamey mini game.

If you get what I mean.

Edit: The % explored indicators were a nice addition though. So were the mission location notices, even if they did create some major clutter. They should be toggle-able.

I preferred the galaxy map in ME2 to ME1. I found I didn't have to consult my mission log to recall the exact location and it didn't go into a stupid cutscene when travelling out of a cluster (or was it system?)

The mini-game could have been interesting if fuel actually costed significantly more and forced you to make optimistaion decisions, but it didn't and didn't really add much but at the same time I didn't dislike it either. I did dislike scanning.

Edit : Showing up last known reaper locations (which get updated frequently) would be pretty cool on the me3 galaxy map.

I for one liked flying the mini Normandy around, it really wasn't annoying, I don't understand people that do find it annoying, anywho people on here will complain about anything, not suprised to see people **** about scaling either.

Wanted to create thread about this, but found this...

So..system of ME 2 is really annoying. In first game, I could just point mouse on planets and be there instantly. Now I have to wasting time with silly Normandy. Not to mention fuel...that was really pointless...

The worst thing is, it keeps me away from side questing. Its just so tiresome to explore galaxy map like that.

I wish that ME 3 returned to ME 1 system..

Hell, why do a galaxy map at all. Just have a menu.

I liked the way they did the galaxy map in ME2. I didn't even mind the resource mining, though it should have been faster or had a "quick mine" button that just gave you a nice chunk of the element most common on the planet while leaving the planet depleted.

I was hoping they'd go with the E3 2006 Galaxy Map look. That really looked amazing.

Check it out: E3 2006 Demo @ 0:53 - 1:07

HOLY ****!

That is amazing! Why was that not given to us. I love the way it is so smoothe looking etc. Can someone make a poll. Bioware has 250 days to release the game. They can do this in that time. This looks so much nicer and smoother.

I think that often we go too far with not liking a feature and dismiss it rather than improving it. (And the game makers do this as well.)

I would not be upset at having the same mini normandy that you fly around but this time add in some random encounters. It doesn't have to be full blown quests but something to keep the player on his/her toes. Perhaps a space battle, perhaps discovering random small locations to explore.

Much like in DA style games where you are traveling from one location to another and you get the crossed sword random encounters,.

haha as of now they are COMPLETELY tied at 82 each. personally i like the ME1, better immersion as that is what shepard would be doing. Doubt he would have a mini-normandy flying around

I prefer ME (1)'s Galaxy map way over that of ME2's.

Because seriously, what was wrong with ME (1)'s map? Couldn't Bioware better spend time on improving the Mako, inventory or other stuff instead of 'improving' the Galaxy Map? With ME2's map you spend way too much time using it since traveling between systems is slow as hell because of the fuel thing and the slow ship. ME (1)'s map was simple and it did the job. Maybe add the percentage thing of ME2's map and Bioware's done with it.

Whooaa..  is it just me or did combat look way more badass in the demo than in the game.

Couple differences:

1) Controlling your squadmates ala Kotor???
2) destructible envoronments @ 3:25  <------ need for ME3, not red faction status but woud be very cool

overall cool to see how they changed their plans
