I'm pretty excited about most of the footage I've seen of ME3 so far; but I've already got a complaint.

Liara doesn't have Warp anymore.

Image IPB

I understand that ME3 is going to introduce more uses for a lot of the biotic powers and I think that's a good move.

But; giving Liara 4 crowd control abilities and not a single direct damage attack is just silly.  Granted I don't know what "Lift Orb" is; but it sounds like its going to have a lot of overlap with Singularity.

Direct damage attacks are your bread and butter and any character without a direct damage attack in ME2 were seriously lacking in versatility.  I'm glad Bioware left Liara Singularity and Stasis; but her powerset in LOTSB was just about perfect in my opinion and stripping Liara of her only direct damage ability makes her way less useful then she should be.

So please Bioware give Liara Warp or some other kind of direct damage attack.

If you agree, please chime in.

They should give her more than 5 powers. Compared to the amount in ME1, 3 looks kind of pitiful.

Liara is already "the cannon LI" and has many good abilities like Stasis and Singularity. And after that you want it to become over powered. And there are many others like her for excample Tali has Energy Drain, Ai Hacking and Combat Drone. Do you think she should get Incinerate?

And you can't even be sure what Lift Orb is...

According to some people it is basicly just a grenade that activates lift on it's targets.

I don't think we can petition, so this will probably be locked. And lift orb is essentially a bomb of biotic energy you can throw and when it goes off; any one in its radius takes the lift effect

Anyway, I would be in support of warp as well. That's simply too many CC abilities as you said. And since I plan on using Liara in ME3 as much as I can(many people probably will), warp would be useful.

Maybe Warp-bomb will be Adept exclusive feature, which is why Liara doesn't have it anymore. This is kinda stupid petition considering we do not know anything about ME3's gameplay mechanics.

Alright, to be serious for one post......

In LotSB Liara was overpowered. They could make her so powerful because she was only with you for one or two missions. But in ME3 Liara is a squadmate throughout, which means she has to be balanced accordingly.

Well Liara had Warp in ME1. Did she all of a sudden forget how to conjure one up?

Nah. Between the rest of the permanent and temp squaddies, there should be enough warp to go around.

If she's the only perm squaddie without it, then maybe, but I don't see that happening.

Why would she need Warp? With her power selection, she can CC every enemy in the game. Isn't that enough? And why would anyone use a damage power if you can take the target out of the fight for a long time anyway? Slapping a Singularity on Harbinger is a lot more effective than Warp; a Stasis ed YMIR isn't dangerous, Warp will only inflict a tiny amount of damage etc.

Making Liara an ME3 Adept isn't good for the class system also.

Yes!  Tali was too overspecialised as a synthetics fighter in ME2, Incinerate would make it easier to justify taking her along on some other missions.  Really, I think ME2 went a bit too far in making party members inferior to Shepard.

I do think Liara should definitely have the capability to kill things with Biotics - in ME1, when preparing to fight she didn't draw her gun but ready her biotics.  Though maybe Throw can do that job OK in ME3 - it could have done with a bit more damage in ME2, I thought.

(Hopefully the mods will simply rename the thread from being a petition.  There's no reason we shouldn't discuss this)

I don't see why it should be.  I'm not encouraging people not to buy the game.   I plan on buying it regardless and I think anyone who doesn't will be cheating themselves.

I just wanted to get some community feedback on this subject in the interests that they might consider the communities opinions and possibly tweak Liara's power set.

Lol powers are so ****ed up in Mass Effect, why is it that a powerful biotic can´t have most of the basic powers like warp. throw, pull, etc, its really stupid and forces the use of certain characters just because they are the ones that have said power i need, ME2 had this same problem, you want warp then take Miranda or Thane because the other powerful biotics are too good to even use them LOL.

I just did it for them.  I think this needs to be discussed and I don't want this thread getting locked due to the mistaken view that I'm trying to drum up fan outrage.

Why do I need Warp when she's going to just wind up using Stasis every time her CD resets?

Whether Liara ends up with warp is anyone's guess but the likelihood that she is a lame gameplay squadmate is close to zero so I wouldn't sweat it.

Granted, I'm assuming that the powers are more or less the same as in ME2.  I just don't see why I could possibly need 4 different crowd control powers on a single character, particularly a character I like and who I want to use.

My concerns may be unfounded; but if they are then I'd like a Dev response to explain why they are unfounded.

Well, yeah, we'd also hope that Stasis will be sort of balanced this time around

Dude, you seriously need to set the squad power usage to manual.  It makes the game a lot more interesting.

So in other words, Lift Orb = Arced Area Pull.

It would seem pretty if Liara forgot warp after using it in ME1 and ME2. But then again characters forgot skills between ME1 and ME2. I never let Liara learn stasis in ME1 because it stole overload's place in the power wheel so for me it was odd that she forgot overload and learned stasis in LotSB (although stasis proved pretty useful).

I wonder if biotics will work in the same way as ME2 as in can't use CC biotics on protected enemies. If so warp becomes really useful for stripping armour and barriers. The other issue is shared cooldowns, what's the point in sinking points into two biotic skills that are very similar if they share a cooldown anyway?
