Cool. I forgot about slam... i remember trying that once or twice but always struggled to get the timing right.

It's probably impossible to perform if Miranda is on your screen.  If she's behind you, though, her animations won't need to fire which makes it a lot easier to time.

I'll give this a try next time i play me2... you have to be a sentinel though? So.... have miranda stand behind and target somebody with slam and then launch tech armor and then use miranda's warp as the target is still levetating or on the way down?

Slam can only be detonated as the target rises.

Maybe I have too much reverence towards the way things were in ME1, but it has always seemed odd to me that a squaddie would "forget" how to do something they were able to do in the first game. People are suggesting that, for instance, Kaidan could have warp instead of Liara. But Liara had warp in ME1 and Kaidan did not. I think more effort should be put into keeping characters' abilities consistent, unless there is some story reason for them to branch off in a new direction or focus on developing one aspect of their abilities while neglecting the others.

That said, balance is key. If Liara were to be given warp, it would have to be implemented in a non-overpowered fashion.

i think ME3 should learn from its mistakes in ME1 and ME2 and make every single squadmate valuable to every single character.

give all of em a debuff.

Somebody twitter this to the devs.

Will Liara randomly for get warp in Me3? She had it in Me1, Me 2 and used it in a cutscene to Kill the Broker? Will she still have it.

Liara is trying to learn Lift Orb, but Liara already knows four moves.  Delete one to make room for Lift Orb?  Liara forgot Warp!

It's funny that you should resurrect this thread.  In the latest build we've seen Liara does in fact have Warp.  No one can say Bioware doesn't listen!

I see someone revived my old thread.

I haven't been on the forums in quite a while (fear of spoilers). So, I don't know if there's been any new info about Liara's power set. If anyone knows I'd appreciate them enlightening me.

I'd particularly appreciate it if a dev would shed some light on the subject.

The last set of powers I saw for her consisted of 4 crowd control abilities which really makes here far too specialized in my opinion. So unless things have changed I still strongly believe that her throw or lift orb ability should be swapped out in exchange for Warp.

As someone who's favorite class is Soldier having my squadmates have a direct damage ability is particularly important since I find the defense stripping direct damage abilities very useful for setting up combos with my other squad member.

They took Lift away though. I guess that makes sense though since having Lift and Singularity seems redundant.

^ See my above post yo.  If you followed my Powers Thread you could have known about this a month ago ;)

I've got some awesome guys over there contributing.  I believe that was SomeoneWithMass who captured that screen from the beta.

Here's the OLD power set....

So, they took away lift and throw and replaced them with Warp and Warp ammo.  A definite improvement in my opinion, it gives her a much more varied set of abilities.

I just subscribed to the thread.

As I said I haven't been on here too much since I heard about the leak for fear of spoilers.   So far I haven't seen any spoilers that bother me yet though.  Learning about powers and what not doesn't bother me, I just don't want the story spoiled.

No fear of spoilers on that thread, gameplay only so you don't have to worry.  I haven't had any updates on powers recently though, and it makes me sad.  I'd like Bioware to do some featured videos for each of the classes like they did before ME2, those really pumped me up.

Likewise those were my favorite vids they released before Mass Effect 2.  I always prefer trailers that show me the sort of toys that I can play around with rather than the ones that spoil a mission for me.

Unfortunately a lot of the vids Bioware has released aside from the Inside Bioware vids have been kind of spoilery.  In particular an incident involving a Thresher Maw which will now be much less of a surprise.  Although that had already been spoiled for me after I read an E3 preview.

Too late to point it out, but they should just have given everyone the abilities they logically should have and design the game to respond to that by creating interesting situations where you could play around with it. (Biotic characters = have all biotic powers save for a few unique specialisations and with varying efficiency in each power, and so on ).

I would have liked for Liara to get a tech ability.

One of my favourite combinations in the first game was a Soldier Shepard with Decryption as a bonus ability and Liara with Electronics levelled up.

Yes, Asari scientist with combat experience. As I said, the characters should have access to more appropriate powers/abilities (it should really be "abilities" instead of powers, save perhaps for biotics)

Overload would have been nice, but they needed a purely biotic-abilitied squadmate (Garrus and Tali already have Overload or something similar).  Also, Liara is defined first and foremost by her biotics (and her knowledge of Prothean lore, but there isn't a power that matches up with Smart! haha), so her ability set best fits with them trying to balance the gameplay and the character background.

I think what they settled on (assuming its final) is a really good mix.

Singularity:  Is a great area of effect crowd control and it looks cool.
Stasis:  Is useful for incapacitating a single target even if they still have armor, shields or barriers.
Warp:  Is very useful as a direct damage attack against armor or barriers.
Warp Ammo:  Is a very nice passive ability for a biotic that won't bother the cooldown for her other powers.

I can understand the argument for Liara having a tech power like she did in ME1; but with the reduced number of squad powers that Mass Effect 2 and 3 offer I think limiting her to biotics is a good decision.

Besides if she had Warp, Overload and Sinugularity she would be monsterously powerful (imagine Miranda with Singularity instead of Slam).
