How much of an impact do you think they will have on the Mage vs Templar conflict?
Apostates.

I bet a good deal of impact. The fact that they are apostates.

Considering an entire side of the war are apostates...

I think he is meaning the ones that weren't under chantry control at the start. How many are they, will they join the others, etc.

Don't ruin my snarkiness with your logic!
But they probably won't play a much bigger role than any sort of reinforcements play on any kind of war.

It's impossible to say. I bet a fair number of them were never invested in 'the cause' to begin with, and will continue staying under the radar, as they always have.

I dunno - I can see a lot of hedge wizards and Bethany Hawke types (hiding indoors) coming out to openly fight.

Indeed. But they will probably not have any more impact on the outcome than the reinforments arriving to help the Templars will.
I mean, they aren't all that different from the Circle Mages, nor are they particularly numerous. They are there however, and they will probably bolster the mage forces. But that is about it.

Do you consider Flemeth an apostate? Heh.
I am hoping there are a few more beings in the world like her, some powerful ancient mages hiding in the corners of existence. I wish Morrigan wasn't pretty definitively gone... I think her role in the upcoming revolution would have been fascinating.

Most of them will continue to hide out, I think. The war doesn't technically affect them directly, so they might try to lay low. Of course, some of them might fight for the Circle mages (especially if they are ex-Circle mages themselves). Wonder what Morrigan and Flemeth would do.

Well, considering how one (two if Hawke is a mage) started the whole thing with a bang, I'd say they've done plenty already.
But anyway, I think most that have gone into hiding will look at the war, go 'Damn glad I'm not part of the circle', and try to find a more secure place to hide if they have any doubts about their current spots. The mercenary mages might hire themselves to the mages for some profit, or just continue mercing it up since the groups in Kirkwall didn't seem all to concerned about it to begin with.
As for Morrigan and Flemeth, Morrigan is probably still in the nameless dimension playing mother, and Flemeth? my bet is Flemeth will laugh and make "I'm an old bat" jokes at people.

Probably some well train apostates (circle fugitives or train by the apostate relatives) would join the rebellion if they can see any chance for success and hope to live openly as mages afterwords.
Some who train only to hide their talents to keep social position (like Isolde planned for Connor) would probably support officially templars and make sure nobody would catch them saying something good about mages.
Untrained mages hidden by their families – let's hope remain hidden far away from any battlefield as a stressed untrained mage equals an abomination.
Flemeth would keep low profile and make only subtle corrections (like saving someone useful) to make that everything goes according to plan.
A if there are any powerful ancient mages except Flemeth they aren't probably interested enough to even discuss matter over drinks.
