Undina is really a nice guy and likes kittens

But seriously I think the twist will be that there is another protheans hidden area somewhere.

I'm all for the 'something is up with Keiji's greybox' twist. I'd like to know what the Alliance is hiding, and if it's Reaper related, I want it to explode in their face.

Hell, I'd like it to have repercussions for Alliance-loyalists.

The Alliance was experimenting with A.I.s years ago, the Council would put impossible sanctions on humanity if they found out. Its mentioned in the first or second book i cant remember.

That's what i thinks on Kasumi's greybox anyway, its the most logical answer.

EDIT: the experiments were taking place after we joined the wider galactic community and were pretty bad since we new they were outlawed for a damn good reason, and being made for military purposes.

I think that the worst possible plot twist is that everything was a dream, Shepard wakes up just before he/she reaches Eden Prime where nothing out of the ordinary happened.

It turns out, you're actually helping the Reapers by destroying a rogue sect of them. The others are a nice and peace-loving race.

...I don't know.

The "Luke, I am your father twist" came from a journalist, so I think s/he was talking about Aethyta and Liara.

I hope this hasn't been posted yet, and please note Im no super fan or lore specialist but here it goes:

During Talis recruitment and loyalty mission in Mass Effect 2, we learned that Haestroms sun was distablizing and going supernova much earlier than expected, and according to what were told the source of the problem is dark energy. Dark energy plays an important role in Mass Effect technology, the mass relays, and FTL travel. So it Is possible that mass effect technology is actually distablizing stars in the milky way and causing them to go supernova sooner. If there was no cycle, no mass extinctions by the reapers the milky way would be uninhabitable. So in a way the reapers are necessary in keeping life existent in the milky way.

So in conclusion I believe Sheppard will have a final choice at the end of ME3 to either: continue to use ME tech or to find another way.

Thoughts?

Just one flaw with this theory.
The Reapers are the ones that set the desired path for organics to follow in their evolution. Also note that one of the reasons they do that is so that organics do not develop other forms of technoogy that would not rely on Element Zero or dark energy. But i do think the reason for the star aging so fast will be a major plot in the story.

@Eamon, I thought something like that too: http://social.biowar...26844/1#7631465

Reapers shouldn't be defeated and I have my own theory about this (I'm sure a lot of people have reached the same conclusion).

Everything has to do with eezo and dark energy. The use of eezo increases the amount of dark energy in the galaxy. Each time someone uses a biotic power, a mass effect core or a relay, it's consuming eezo and generating dark energy. Dark energy destabilizes stars, so they become supernovas too soon. Also, reapers are the only creature that can use this dark energy to survive and create other reapers.

This way, we could explain the whole plot. Reapers let organics use their technology to increase this dark energy. They wipe out organics when the amount is too high, before it makes every sun to explode, and they use the energy for themselves (they keep and modify some species too, but those are controlled by them). Once the rest of the organics disappear, the pool of eezo starts to recover with the remaining dark energy (the amount that reapers haven't consumed). That amount has been reduced to a number that estabilize stars again and the reapers go back to dark space to rest. This also explains why they haven't changed too much in so many years: they spend most of the time resting.

It's all about survival.

I also understand the need of using organics to create reapers, as their way to evolve and predict organic's behavior. They need to be the greatest force in the galaxy so they can defeat organics every cycle.

1: Shep breaking down mentally as the game progresses.

2: humans were created by the protheans with the specific purpose of fighting the reapers.

Hmm... that sounds like this movie: Guyver 2: Dark Hero, and there is Collector Armor! :D

Nevertheless, Shepard does seem like the perfect fighting machine

Like the geth? Possible....

One I'm guessing is that Shepard is a Prothean decendant, how else could he even survive the beacon on Eden Prime? Like Liara said they were programmed to interact with Protheans. Also he could understand Vigil, who was speaking Prothean. Maybe the cipher is having Prothean DNA.

This could also explain why the Collectors and Reapers have a unique interest in her.

And if what ere being told is a lie, and there is a Prothean squadmate, it could be the one to tell Shepard who he/she exactly is.

Or MAYBE ALL humans have prothean DNA.

1. Reapers were originally a humanoid-like species who downloaded their minds into almost-invincible, squid-like ships.

2. The purpose of destroying all life every 50,000 years is part of their study to see how species evolve each time, to see if history occurs in the same manner as the last time around. Either new species are created or DNA from the previous is kept stored to recreate. Possibly both.

My question is, if this has been happening every 50,00 years, why is Earth just now getting hit?

I'm not a mass effect historian...but here goes... Something just strikes me between the dichotomy of these titles... Keepers: i.e. preserve... and the Reapers: i.e. destroy... There is some sort of balance shift occurring and the Keepers in my opinion will have a role...they might be the antithesis in securing victory for Shepard... No one's dad will be revealed, it's just face palm written all over it, BW is scared to take such an angle b/c it's the cliche's of all cliche's...

Maybe Earth is not as old as we think in the ME universe. Perhaps the planets aren't destroyed at all, just the lifeforms that inhabit it. Then they terraform the planets to start anew.

It would still take longer than 50,000 years to become space faring with any species.

They only attack the races who have discoverd and used the mass relays.

"The trap created by the Reapers was simple. A sentient species would develop FTL drive, but would still be limited in its speed. By leaving a network of relays capable of instant transport across the galaxy that led to the impressive Citadel, the Reapers ensured that it would become the center of galactic civilization. Further, Sovereign implies that the presence of the mass relays would lead the sentient species down a predetermined route with regards to weapons and armor technology (both of which are based upon element zero technology for the Citadel races). It is probable that this reduces the possibility of organic life discovering alternative, more advanced technology and progressing down a different 'path'; or, as Sovereign explains, 'By using it [mass relay technology] your society develops along the paths we desire.' "
