First of all, the attitude? Unnecessary considering the fact that I also said in that post, "but it would be awesome and I'm hoping I'm wrong." Asking a question is fine, but going at receptive newcomers to your thread with a passive-aggressive tone like that? It only makes you look like you know you don't have a hope, so you're bitter about it. If you feel otherwise, you weren't doing a terribly good job of indicating it in that post.Computer_God91 wrote...
I love how you put that in there. What makes joker a more likely candidate for romance then Chakwas? Or is that you're own personally hope backed up by nothing?
He's got a disease that even if he gets up to pee he can brake a bone, and you think Femshep would be able to bounce on him without snapping his hips in half? right.
See the thing that's the issue here isn't age because technically you can almost kiss the Asari equivalent to a grandmother (samara) and if it weren't for her code she'd have banged shep anyway. So I don't see what the problem is and how this is unlikely.
I don't have to respond to the bone disease comments because you're only the 50 billionth person to trot out one of the same two tired, ill-thought-out arguments that every hater does--"He should have sex with his computer, because that's like so not insulting to handicapped people!" or "Sex=violent hammering, no exceptions, and no one can be in love without that kind of crazy rough copulation anyway!" even though you can't kill Joker like you could Tali, who, whaddayaknow, is still romanceable even though she's an alien highly vulnerable to disease. So yeah. We've seen it before. Whatever.

1. Dr. Chakwas? Voiced by an experienced actor, but not exactly somebody most people would recognize on sight. Generally, celebrity status = "we're paying the person in any case, so let's make the most of this." Not being as well known doesn't damn a person by any means, but generally it's a smart choice to milk the known voices; that's why you see Seth Green in Mass Effect interviews and outtakes, but not her. Search the actors' names on YouTube with the phrase Mass Effect and you'll see what I mean. Of the two, Seth Green is the one who is more likely to make them more money if people know he has a significant role in the game.
2. Show me a Twitter page post or an article equivalent to Seth Green's where Carolyn Seymour says she, too, is voicing around 12 hours of dialogue. That's twice as much as he had in the first game. That at least is an indicator that he will not have a bit part, and being present is kind of necessary for being a romance, whereas we don't know how much CS has done for ME3.
3. There's been a lot more talk about Joker on the internet than Chakwas, great though she is. Google "Mass Effect" Joker, you get 2,180,000 results. Google "Mass Effect" Chakwas, you get 90,900 results. So yeah, he gets more attention than she does. Just to put that into perspective, she has been searched around 4% as much as Joker has. Would she get more attention with more content? Sure. But Joker already has a whole lotta fan-love.
4. Joker is younger than Chakwas and therefore more traditionally available. Annoying? Yes. Insulting to people who don't buy society's comfortable little norms as being the only way to live? Maybe. But some of society doesn't feel comfortable with the woman being older or taller or better-paid. Lame as it is, people in general are slow to change their traditional mindsets. And if ME3 was going to do an older woman LI, wouldn't it be more likely to be Samara (as you yourself suggested) of the wisdom, mysticism, and epic cleavage than gentle Chakwas?
5. A Bioware employee said to Quay00 on Twitter "I cannot explain how many fans have asked us for Joker to get laid in this game. Joker is definitely loved by many - rock it out." I haven't seen a quote like that for Chakwas--if I'm wrong, show me; I'll be happy to see it. But this means that Joker, at least, is loved enough that a romance bodes a certain amount of possibility (look at the popularity of Garrus and Tali and what happened there.)
6. Finally, it was Joker that Shepard went back for, Joker that saw her slip away the first time... and it was Joker who makes his impassioned plea for her not to die on him again. While the moments with Chakwas were very emotional and real, they were not quite on the same level. They could be in the future, but they haven't been yet.
There you go. As solid a form of evidence as we have right now, so yeah, I can back up my opinions.
If you're going to go for the underdog romance, I just think you should be man or woman enough to own it. Hell, even Joker himself is an underdog, as evidenced by the fact that there was no romance with him in the first two games. And if the ME team has the guts to make Chakwas available, then hell, more power to them. I will certainly be viewing that content with a Shepdude of mine.
Or maybe they'll just have her and Joker hook up, and we'll all be really frickin' sad. At this point, it's anybody's guess.

Oh my, yes. We might end up with one or two characters flirting with Shepard one time. The horror.
I'm totally cool with people hitting on Shep. What I don't want is creepy dating sim in my Sci-Fi RPG/Shooter.
Then frankly, your wishes go against the infatuated fixations of this community.

Look at you just bursting at the seems trying to protect your virtual love in hopes that you may crush hips together. Honestly this is a joke to me, I don't think either of these will happen and I'm just showing support for Chakwas cause hell if it happens win for me, but more so if people are really going to ask for a Joker romance then why the hell not support a Chakwas one as well. Because honestly people are asking for a romance for everyone and its pretty ridiculous, but yea I'll support the least likely candidate to get a shepsexuality cause I'd gladly give it to her.
Anyhow what I got from everything you said was "Whatever the majority of the forumites ask for you better put in this game." and I don't agree with that as it sounds very demanding to me. The problem with Samara is nobody looks at her the same way as they do Chakwas, they completely ignore her age because she is an Asari who shows more skin then Liara or some of the other females in the group.
Yea, well sarcastic and passive-aggressive is basically my personality type so if you don't like it I can't help you. Talk to someone who isn't as much of a jerk as me, I guess.
Also fixed my pathetic grammar errors. I don't proof read or look at the screen while I type so as anyone could imagine that might lead to error.
Remember to show your support in your sig bar.

People best stop trivilializing EDI. I personally would have thought sci-fi fans could see an AI as something more than a computer but, it seems every just looks at them as simple machines and organisms. I could care less if she romances Seth Green, but seriously read some more sci-fi or hell just try to learn more about AI in the Mass Effect universe before you start making basely accustations of her "Just being a computer." Also, a amorous relationship doesn't require sex... and besides what port is Joker suposed to put it in?

Secondly though, it's not like there really would be anything wrong with that. I would never even think of romancing her, but still, if some people would find entertainment in it, I'm more then fine with that.
Might be a little creepy if even the old doc appeared to feel something more to her commander, rather then just the squad members that constantly risk their lifes with him/her. Couldn't get any close to any NPC without suddely realising they want to go to bed with you!? D:

Firstly: that romance is just not gonna happen. I don't see Bioware putting it in their game EVER. You'd have to get 100k people petitioning them or something like that. Plus, it doesn't make much sense story-wise if you look at the previous games (and don't counter that with the drinking scene please... hopefully RPGs haven't yet gone as bad as to such a single, rather normal event meaning entire important sotrylines developing in the future).
