There already are useful Archives to SEARCH here

Read the Stickies (they are pinned up there to offer you HELP), and please don't waste forum space with the same antiquated old questions all over again UNTIL AFTER YOU SEARCH. Once you have seen what has already been discussed, if you still have to know more, follow my guide to reporting.  It's among those pinned threads, and it says "Before anything else".

Admittedly, with just about a years' worth stored, the DA2 archives aren't extensive, but message traffic and readership is low.  The in-forums search tool is badly crippled, but by adding a redirection to a Google or Yahoo search, you can have a good search engine look inside these forums (a redirection is a pointer that names social.bioware.com).

site:social.bioware.com

Each year when summer arrives, the members all find other things to do, so asking questions now (end of April as I am editing this) is really problematic, and gets worse on weekends.  This forum never did regain popularity after summer ended, and is really at a low ebb.

You may think this is just a Friday, but comparing the slow message traffic now, it's more of a weekend type slowness already, so if you ask the same old many times answered before question, it will probably be ignored by the very few readers. You really need the archives, and they really are probably the only way you will get a fix.

Attempting to ask *ANY* question of a tech nature and not offering diddly for information is the sure and certain way not to get an answer.

Ignoring multiple suggestions to provide information in its own turn points out that it's best not to mix too much booze with forum posting.

The newest DLC may seem to "require" new message threads, when in fact the same existing kinds of problems from prior releases are being repeated once again, and until readership picks up from its current ebb, your best bet for answers will be the archives, but as always, the forum's own Finder remains in the same half-broken condition that it has always been in.

Use Bing, Google, Yahoo, whatever quality search engine you like, then add the site redirector:

site:social.bioware.com

There still is no need to keep asking the same questions that have all been thoroughly covered before. Hardly anyone is on hand to answer at this time of year, anyway. The same problems from other DLC have been answered, I'm sure (but not by me. I don't consider the marketing represented by DLC on a pay as you go basis to be a good value for me, personally. I don't buy any of it that way).

Having never visited this site and no clue where or what the stickies are your comments are less than useful. I need to be able to activate my software to play. Forums are there for people to assist people. There are some of us who are knew everyday. so far if this is the support options I have I will cut my losses at twenty bucks for dragon age II and avoid EA software all together.

Official support is on EA's help pages.

http://support.ea.com

The link is at the bottom of this page, in the center column, and the same place on almost every page here in these forums, which are for gamers to discuss matters with other gamers, just exactly as described by the forum description at the very top, above where the sticky threads are pinned.

Here is the Forum Description text from atop the Index itself, where the first several threads are pinned in place to stay there (Stickies).

"This forum is for fans and owners of Dragon Age II on PC to assist each other with technical questions and advice.  Official game support is provided by Electronic Arts at the link at the bottom of the page.  Fans are encouraged to try to assist each other here. WARNING: Topics may reveal spoiler information."

A few new arrivals have overlooked the Stickies on top this evening.

There had been almost no activity in this forum in weeks, and suddenly, some new people arrived, ignoring the Archives and the Reporting Guide. There is almost no one around to answer, and hasn't been, since last May.

You are stuck with searching, but ignore the broken excuse on-site, and use Bing, Google, or Yahoo instead. Then add the redirection criteria:

site:social.bioware.com

First, take note of the self-help nature of the forum. When there were some active gamers on hand, it worked as a gamer to gamer discussion to suggest answers to problems. Ten months ago, nearly everyone left, but when the off-season ended, almost no one ever returned. There's just a very few who drop in occasionally who have played the game enough to assist.

You are not particularly likely to get an answer, especially through ignoring the forum's SOP on problem reporting. Check the Archives; they are fairly comprehensive.

The seasonal ebb is fast approaching, and weekends are already practically unpopulated here. Use a good search tool to access the archives, such as Bing, Google, Yahoo, et al. Ignore the site's own badly broken Finder tool, which was always terrible, and never repaired.  Ignore the current crowd of "Me, Too" people wasting forum space here instead of sticking to a single message thread, in their correct forum (SITE problems forum).

There still is almost no one visiting this forum with much of any experience playing the game. EA Help is still the official support, and the Archives still should cover 90% of all the possible problems, if you use a professional Search Engine, rather than the crippled excuse offered here on site.

The good weather has arrived, the few visitors dropping in here with gaming experience in this game are now elsewhere.  The Archives and EA are where the available resources are from now onward (I really doubt there will be any resurgence next fall in 2012, at all).
