@Sapphire: I read about the tornadoes in the Midwest last night. I hope you are okay, and have electric power so you can play and share posts with us.

Thanks for the concern! All I got was thunderstorms, so thats good. The closest tornado had to be the one on Friday that hit Norman, Oklahoma. My prayers are with the other people that weren't as lucky as I was though..

Update time!

Major Battle: Beholder
Tactics: Cast Protection from Petrification on Soren, and then Solaufein joined up and basically just killed the beholder.

Major Battle: Deirex
Tactics: Soren cast Berserk, and then Death Ward on himself. Imoen cast Pierce Magic, Breach, and Magic Missile. Everyone else was just attacking regularily.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Dopplegangers (Ambush)
Tactics: Everyone attacked regularily, and that seemed to be enough to get the job done.

Soren: Berserker > Cleric - 4 > 15
Keldorn: Inquisitor - 13
Mazzy: Fighter - 15
Imoen: Adventurer > Mage - 7 > 14

Thank you!

Another update.

Major Battle: Bodhi (again), and Ssaso
Tactics: First thing was to kill all of her buddies. Which was super easy with some of the new items that the party had bought and forged for instance, Gesen’s Shortbow. Then, it was Bodhi’s turn and Imoen cast magic missile, flame arrow, and stoneskin. While Aerie cast magic missile. Then, once Bodhi was staked another vampire came up behind Yvette and just one-shotted her. Then, Imoen cast Melf’s Acid Arrow while everyone else was just basic attacking the new vampire.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Raamilat
Tactics: Killed his buddy first, Then led him away from his damaging AoEs, and regularily attacked him until he started to take damage again.

Major Battle: Irenicus
Tactics: Set some traps before killing the last parasite. Basically, interrupted all of Irenicus’ spells, and watched as the Magic Missiles and other stuff just kick his butt.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Sarevok
Tactics: Soren tanked Sarevok while Imoen cast Horrid Wilting, Magic Missile, and Flame Arrow. Aerie was casting Magic Missile.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Irenicus (again)
Tactics: Killed all of his buddies. Then it was a matter of dispelling his protections which Imoen did with Ruby Ray of Reversal, and Aerie did with Pierce Magic. After that Imoen cast Horrid Wilting. Then Imoen and Aerie were casting Magic Missile. After that, Imoen was casting Flame Arrows while Aerie was casting Lightning bolt. (Also, had to reload because he used finger of death, and I totally forgot that he does that. Hah. Well, I doubt I’m going to forget that again.)
Image IPB

Major Battle: Illasera
Tactics: Killed all of her henchmen first. Then used Pierce Magic on Illasera, and that’s when it all started going down hill for Illasera. In a matter of seconds, Illasera was dead.
Image IPB

Soren: Berserker > Cleric - 4 > 19
Keldorn: Inquisitor - 16
Mazzy: Fighter - 18
Imoen: Adventurer > Mage - 7 > 16
Aerie: Cleric/Diviner - 13/13
Yvette: Thief > Heartwarder of Sune - 4 > 19

Total Reloads: 5

Note: Finger of Death is bad, especially when you don't death ward against it. Hah..Well, that lesson is learned!

5 (+4 BG1) reloads is good going. Keep it up.

I recently went through TOB (Ascension) to Abazigal and found death ward, shield of the archons and berserker enrage were essential for many of the battles. Had my best run through because all six of my party would be protected. These buffs tend to last the duration of many battles too.

Oh, I thought Sapphire was counting his BG1 reloads carried over. Did you reset your counter after BG1, Sapphire?

Regardless, great job on all those tough battles!

Believe it or not I'm actually a she that likes to play hes sometimes. Heh. Also, I did count my reloads from BG1 considering its a full trilogy run.

Update time.

Major Battle: First test
Tactics: Basically, normal attacked everyone until Sarevok, Irenicus, and Bodhi showed up. Then, Negative Plane Protections went up. Irenicus was the first to go, Then, Sarevok. Then lastly, Bodhi and that’s when all the attacking spells went out.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Phyldian
Tactics: Cast Negative Plane Protection on Soren, Imoen, and Yvette. Basically just attacked her regularily, with some flame strikes and magic missiles.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Gromnir
Tactics: Killed his helpers first. Then, on Gromnir, Soren was mostly tanking. Aerie and Imoen were casting spells, such as magic missile and flame arrow.

Yvette: Thief > Heartwarder of Sune - 4 > 20

Its alright! Heh. I think I've had that happen to me a couple of times as well.

Update Time again.

Major Battle: Gorion Wraith
Tactics: Yvette and Soren cast Physical Mirror on themselves, while Imoen cast Horrid wilting. Keldorn, Aerie, and Mazzy were just attacking him regularily and then Yvette and Soren joined in as well once they were done casting their spell. Imoen also cast some magic missiles.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Nyalee
Tactics: Again killed her buddies before they went after her. Yvette cast Summon Deva, while Keldorn cast summon Planatar. Sarevok cast Horrid Wilting, and magic missile. Yvette also cast Physical Mirror and Finger of Death.

Major Battle: Yaga Shura
Tactics: Aside from killing all of his buddies. Sarevok was casting Magic Missile, while Soren and Keldorn attacked regularily. Yvette cast Physical Mirrior and Finger of Death again.

Major Battle: Second Challenge
Tactics: Sarevok cast Horrid Wilting. Yvette cast Physical Mirror. Keldorn cast summon Planatar. Soren and Keldorn took on Evil Soren while Sarevok and Mazzy took on Tamoko, and Aerie and Yvette took on Angelo. Of course this was after Semaj was dead.

Soren: Berserker > Cleric - 4 > 23
Keldorn: Inquisitor - 19
Mazzy: Fighter - 21
Sarevok: Fighter > Mage - 18 >19
Aerie: Cleric/Diviner - 15/14
Yvette: Thief > Heartwarder of Sune - 4 > 23

Total Reloads: 5

Note: Imoen got chunked via Skeletal Assassin to which Soren curses that Skeletal Assassin as well as Imoen for dying. Also, the reason why Sarevok go so high in mage level was because of Level 1 NPCs, and Sarevok gained a lot of XP when I kicked him. I thought I wanted to use Haer'Dalis, but I changed my mind.

@Gate - I think I may need to try an assassin one of these days.

@Belgarath - Yeah, I was kind of sad after that, and if I were going by the rules of your challenge I would have had to reload because of her getting chunked, but I guess that would have made it a wee bit more fun? Heh.

Update time again.

Major Battle: Odamaron
Tactics: Sarevok cast spell thrust, magic missile, and Pierce shield while everyone else regularily attacked the lich.

Major Battle: Diyatha
Tactics: Took care of her friends, and then attacked her with a Deva and some spells like magic missile and lightning bolt.

Major Battle: Sendai
Tactics: Killed her copies one by one. Then Sarevok cast Pierce shield, horrid wilting, and magic missile. Yvette cast Summon Deva, and once all of Sendai’s protections were down, she was practically finished.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Third Challenge
Tactics: Soren had to tank and he turned on his berserk while Keldorn cast Summon Planatar. Sarevok cast Horrid Wilting, and Magic Missile. Aerie also cast magic missile. Everyone else just normally attacked.

@Belgarath - Thank you, and now Soren's run is done. Soren is still my favorite character of all time.. Heh.

Final Update!

Major Battle: Draconis
Tactics: Sarevok cast Pierce Shield while Keldorn cast Summon Planatar. Sarevok also cast a couple of magic missiles and horrid wilting.

Major Battle: Anadramatis
Tactics: Sarevok cast Spell Thrust. Aerie cast Magic Missile. Yvette cast Summon Deva. While Keldorn, Soren, and Mazzy attacked regularily.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Abazigal
Tactics: Basically, everyone regularily attacked except for Aerie and Sarevok. Sarevok was casting magic missiles, while Aerie was also casting magic missiles. Yvette, Soren, and Keldorn summoned out their Devas, and that’s how Abazagal went down. Also, Aerie got chunked.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Balthazar
Tactics: Regular attacks, magic missiles, and melf’s acid arrows cast by Sarevok.
Image IPB

Major Battle: Last Challenge
Tactics: Summoned some Devas and tanked the swords around until the ravager went down.

Major Battle: Amelyssan The Blackhearted
Tactics: Sarevok cast Spell Thrust, and Dragon’s breath. Keldorn, Soren, and Yvette cast summon Deva. While Jaheira cast creeping doom, and Iron Skins.

Note: Chose mortality for Soren, and it was kind of sad for Soren and Yvette. Also, due to Rogue Rebalancing I didn't have to fight the Chosen of Cyric.

From the no-reload thread Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Yoshimo, Viconia, Edwin and Anomen. Searching for Imoen.

Anomen
On our return to the city Anomen discovers his sister is dead. He almost resists the murderous request from his father but we're there to prevent him from wavering. We clear the ground floor of the Saerk estate, selling their junk for cash. After a rest we buff inside the estate and head upstairs.

Anomen murders the daughter of Saerk before our eyes, but Yusuf escapes assume this is scripted as he was near-death and took a lot of damage/spells before teleporting away. Saerk and his guards are obliterated then we loot the building. Anomen and his father agree he is sure to be knighted for such a deed.

Tarnor the Hatchetman
We can take him blind. In my case, I really have to after an oops surge. My next spell oops surge is an expensive one about 30k gp.
Image IPB

I wander in for another spell, then realise I'm fighting blind so step back and let the party continue without me. Anomen has killed Zorl and starts on Gaius. Draug Fea attacks us so Edwin blinds him. What next?
Image IPB

Gaius is slowed so Anomen quickly casts death-ward, but then kills Gaius before another spell is cast. Gallchobhair is next, then the emotional Rengaard and Tarnor. I regain my vision after a rest.

The Unseeing Eye
Anomen and Viconia are turning undead, destroying vampiric mists. This works until we reach a large staircase, with Anomen being held and Viconia getting scared. Anomen takes some drains until Edwin and I kill the wraiths, while Yoshimo has got scared too. We have to rest to recover.

Two sets of yuan-ti mess us up badly.
Image IPB

Unseeing Eye pit
A horde of undead won't stop us. Anomen grabs the gauntlets of dexterity, while I figure out we cannot climb back out of the pit. I didn't want to fight, but it looks like we have no choice. We buff again and continue, knowing we are ill-prepared.

Four gauth almost kill me 19/63hp, and do kill Anomen despite him glugging two healing potions. Yoshimo sneaks in and retrieves him so Viconia can raise him.

Yoshimo lays three snares while Edwin and I add skulltraps. A fireball entices the gauth and one set of enemies are eliminated. Yoshimo scouts around and finds some blind priests. Greater malison, slow, two fireballs and a skulltrap finish them off.

A beholder next. One snare, three skulltraps and a fireball. Another beholder near the exit gets a similar send-off (hmm, see below), and a gauth guarding part of the rift device. Anomen decides to finish off our investigations.
Image IPB

We head to the exit in a group. I'm towards the back, and the only one who triggers the skulltrap left after the beholder died. It kills me outright while everybody else is uninjured. Viconia and Anomen manage to raise me, but this also raises the Unseeing Eye and we have to kill it again.

Reloads 1 : (Skulltrap in Unseeing Eye pit)

That was annoying, had put the traps under an arch and wasn't paying attention.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Yoshimo, Viconia, Edwin and Anomen. Searching for Imoen.

Squire Anomen is called to the Radiant Heart as we surface, and cast out of the Order. I try to make things worse for him, but end up tracking down more errant paladins.

Anarg hasn't realised we buffed in a nearby house. We return his cup to the Radiant Heart afterwards. Rather than wasting a pile of cash on a wild surge I decide to purchase the robe of Vecna.

Lilacor
We've been carrying the blood, ring, staff and hand around for a while so return to the sewers and obtain the sword instead.

Skinner district murders
We've known about Rejiek Hidesman for a long time, so decide to tell Lt Aegisfield for fun. Yoshimo questions whether Aegisfield should investigate on his own, and we all know the answer to this. He proves to be correct, so we shut the tannery down in case their scheme interferes with our own activities.

Sir Sarles
Another fop to fool. Better still, the Helmites reward us for doing so. We've grabbed and upgraded a horn of Valhalla and collected a bounty placed on the head of Neb along the way.

Watchers Keep (the out of town shopping centre)
Just a quick visit, picking up a quiver of arrows +1, an ammo belt and a crimson dart +3. Viconia wants a girdle of hill giant strength so we purchase one from the Adventurers Mart.

Aran Linvail
Off to the graveyard district for Lassal and Bodhi, but Edwin has other ideas. I grab a mace of disruption, stoneskins protecting me from damage as I collect it. Viconia suggests we ask Cromwell to improve the mace, then a detour to accomodate our conjurer.

The Nether Scroll
Anomen and Viconia take the lead; she with the improved mace and he with my borrowed amulet of power. We warm up by dealing with Tanova, a few summons and snares followed by the expendables (Anomen and Yoshimo).

Anomen and Viconia use turn undead to lead us to a lich called Nevaziah, both using DUHM to flatten him. Viconia hits but he saves against the iMoD, leaving Anomen to slow and destroy with the FoA +3.

Edwin shows Anomen how to fry seventeen spiders...and singe a fighter/cleric.
Image IPB

Lassal
Turn undead gets us to a door. Three snares, spell buffs and summons are used to clear the next room. Lassal wants to play in the spike room. Anomen casts AoF, DUHM and RMagic as Viconia aids him. Lassal chases him back towards us, only for two of Yoshimo's snares to finish him.

Bodhi Welcome.
Image IPB

Both aerial servants and a flesh golem hit her, she drains and kills the golem with a single critical strike. Viconia tries a doom before attacking, but Anomen is there to scare her away with his first hit.
Image IPB

As she runs, Edwin lowers her magical resistance by 21%. We sell a few items and prepare for our trip to Spellhold. Perhaps a quick check before we depart, and maybe stash the red fabric too. Full inventory below, ie minimal!

Anomen, fighter 7 > cleric 13. 165 kills, Torgal.
Image IPB

Verun, wild mage 12. 189 kills, Glaicas.
Image IPB

Edwin, conjurer 11. 135 kills, gauth.
Image IPB

Viconia, cleric 11. 214 kills, greater basilisk (BG1).
Image IPB

Yoshimo, bounty hunter 14. 89 kills, Unseeing Eye (2nd time).
Image IPB

Oi Anomen. That's my amulet (grabs it back).

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Yoshimo, Viconia, Edwin and Anomen. Searching for Imoen.

Brynnlaw
Aran Linvail thanks us for keeping his mage alive, then charters a ship for us. As we reach Brynnlaw Yoshimo smells vampires and Anomen grabs my amulet again.

Our contact is murdered in the Vulgar Monkey, so we investigate the Festhall instead. Perth the Adept fails his test, and I obtain a book of infinite spells. I turn to a truesight page.

Spellhold exterior
Anomen has grabbed my amulet again. Yoshimo seems keen for us to hold all his equipment before we enter the ominous building.

Imoen
My Bhaalspawn abilities have gone, as has Yoshimo. Instead we are left with Imoen the thief level 12.

Spellhold maze
We must escape. Quickly. Just got to do this item puzzle. Oh, and the riddles. Yes, and the gemstone portal.

Two arial servants die fighting umber hulks near a giant head, giving Imoen a chance to finish them with snares.

An arial servant is badly wounded as we fight umber hulks to the east. A bone golem, skeleton warriors and greater mummy tear into Anomen. We quickly summon Kitthix and shove the injured servant forwards. It kills them all for us and Anomen slowly starts to heal.

We have a spare stake preparation eh for Dace, find time to kill a few bloodthirsty monsters summoned from a pedestal, kill some ritualistic kobolds and only then is it time to leave.

Spellhold exit
We're careful and make fair progress except when the game pathing means Viconia heads into a cloudkill portrait room instead of returning to the main portrait cells, and is lucky to escape alive.

Bodhi manages to dire charm me, but I turn into the slayer and she runs away again. My companions hide around the corner until I recover. Then we do everything else got boots of speed, forgot to go back for boots of the north.

Director tests
Excessive rewards for hasted buffs. A cloak, a club, a scroll.

[u]Spellhold rebellion[u]
Imoen lays three snares, then we buff like mad and kill Lonk before recruiting the inmates.

Irenicus has obviously studied the mirror from Durlags Tower, creating clones of us. I cast greater malison, Edwin following with emotion. Only Irenicus resists and Anomen has him at near-death.
Image IPB

Yoshimo and his murderers don't last long.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Yoshimo, Viconia, Edwin, Anomen and Imoen.

Back to Brynnlaw
We decide to take Saemon up on his offer, then double back to investigate the final room in Spellhold. Buffs for the pirate king result in me casting oops wild colour changes, maybe I can distract the pirates.

Githyanki pirates
We put up a good fight, in fact only the gith captain survives and spends an eternity at near-death. Anomen gets bored and talks to Saemon, just as some sahuagin arrive and sink the ship.

Undersea cavern
A merchant buys lots of useless items and has a decent selection of spells for us.

Despite his buffs Anomen is killed in a battle with a sea zombie lord and summons.Once he is revived we successfully solve an imp puzzle and convince a Spectator orb to allow us access to a chest. The sahuagin are doomed once we kill a prince but we're allowed to leave, and descend into the underdark with a magical rope.

A pair of aerial servants and trio of skeleton warriors work their way through three mind flayers, a drow hunting party and a pack of Kuo-toa.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen, Viconia, Edwin and Anomen.

A bit of a mess...not a good compilation of 2 sessions really.

Underdark continued
Five more summons take care of a drow priestess party and three spore colonies. I get to use an earthquake scroll, then we help Vithal despite his scorcher turning an aerial servant and a skeleton warrior hostile.

A portal machine looks interesting. Time to test a new spell.
Image IPB

Imoen is impressed by the pierce magic but Edwin recognises it for a badly captured Dweomer. Everybody takes two steps away from me. I take a couple of steps away from myself.

Underdark Kuo-toa caverns
Four summons are insta-killed by a beholder and two gauth. Anomen uses buffs (Death ward, Archons, DUHM, RMagic, bless, haste, PfE, DHarmony, RFear and more) then melees them into dust.

He dies to the drow party guarding the exit. We kill them and some more kuo-toa before raising him. I agree to try and make him less disposable.1 death this session

A kuo-toa prince proves difficult to hit and I try another dweomer. Fortunately Anomen saves the day again by killing the prince and casting an area protection.
Image IPB

I am held, but no need for Viconia to remove the paralysis.
Image IPB

Beholder lair
Anomen kills an elder orb and a beholder. Then another beholder and some drow. He charges another beholder and two gauth - Viconia risks her life to help summons. Then we raise Anomen again. 2nd time this session.

The south-east portion of the lair has another elder orb. Skeletons kill it then we raise Anomen again. Third time this session/

With the lair complete Anomen threatens to leave. I convince him to stay, arguing that the last three deaths have been an unfortunate learning experience. I have every confidence in him as we look to enter an illithid lair.

Illithid lair
Chaotic commands, greater malison and emotion make an umber hulk fight painless. Hasted summons work their way through the lair with Anomen picking on umber hulks until he is dominated. Edwin and I cannot dispel it but Viconia can, and we slam a door shut to rest.

Brain golems are defeated by more summons, but Imoen is dominated by the final group forcing Anomen to slam a door shut again as our dispels fail and our summons try to attack her instead of the remaining illithid. A final set of summons finish the job.

Adalon
Yes, we can help. Maybe.

Ust Natha duels
Lasaonar is first, mangled by Anomen. Chalinthra is next, chunked by Anomen. Edwin has time to summon Kitthix against a mage, adding a golem and berserk warrior before the mage collapses. The next two mages are foolish enough to start near these three summons, the third surviving long enough to be Melfed and Magic Missiled.

Ust Nasha creature trials
Anomen steps forward to kill an umber hulk, a nabassu, and a sahuagin prince. Viconia steps forward to raise him and sends two skeleton warriors in to finish off a beholder. fourth time this session.

Phare
Buffed summons protect us as we interrupt an illithid transit and "rescue" Phaere.

Quilue
Anomen survives. Mainly by running round scared while we finish off the last three enemies.

Beholder
Yawn. We've fought better than this enemy - Anomen isn't dead.

Swirf respect
I can't be bothered to kill some swirf, so we ask their patrol leader to hand over his helmet instead.

Anomen is grumbling, insisting he is taking more than his fair share of danger. NO, I'M SHARING IT ROUND!
Image IPB

Solaufein
I take his cloak and tell him to play dead.

The blood of one of these 3 creatures
I have all three, so my time is my own. I typically find the all three of these areas a risk to do in the alloted time so best to get them done early. What to do instead?

Deirex
Anomen survives, Edwin does not and I remember we meant to protect him against (sun)fire. Anomen 4 - Edwin 1
Image IPB

Imoen looks around while I stand still (stunned) and Viconia sorts out Dedwin. It is only later that we realise my surges have changed the colour of my clothes and also my gender.

Taso Kala
A few summons buffer us agains a host of jellies and slimes.

Fake eggs
Imoen fumbles her hide after stealing the real eggs and is attacked. Time for plan b. We soon have the golems, egg guards, matron mother guards, executioner and matron mother lying at our feet.

The drow outside want to fight, threatening us with their magic. A quintet of skeleton warriors must be their worst nightmare, and our way to the city exit is clear. Instead we turn back so Anomen can chunk Phaere too.

We can't work out how to summon the demon to trade the eggs. Anomen and Imoen sigh with relief as we finally leave.

Adalon
All we wanted was a little blood. We start with lower resistance, summons and doom. Our skeletons get brushed aside and I get some sort of death spell. Petrify?
Image IPB

Anomen 4 - Edwin 1 - Verun 1

Adalon 2
Don't forget the death wards this time. We add 4 lower resistances, greater malison, 3 dooms, various Melf acid arrows, finger of death, slow and whatever sequencers available. We've contracted out the job to a hard-hitter.

Kruin
He's persistent. I hand the silver sword parts over on the third attempt, having suffered the indignity of powerword:frozencutscene twice in a row whenever I choose to fight. We can relate to Kruin too, what with his wild surges and Oops moments my party almost mistake him for me.
Image IPB

We decide to shop, and I try to cast friends via surge. I start with hiccups, progress to being itchy then vamoosh my gold so shopping is no longer an option. Edwin is cackling away until he has a gender re-alignment from reading the nether scroll.

Darcin Cole
He runs away, leaving us to kill three mages. One has cast a death spell and killed Edwina though. Viconia puts on her new armour and raises him. Anomen 4 - Edwin/a 2 - Verun 1.

Reloads 2 (skulltrap, Unseeing Eye pit, Adalon/petrify?).

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen, Viconia, Edwin and Anomen.

Crooked Crane Lich
We revamp our level 6/7 spells and try our hardest. Ruby Ray, Warding Whip, Pierce Magic, FoD, Sunray, Bolt of Glory, False Dawn, Sols Orb and Chain Lightning all fail to stop the lich and Imoen is mazed. Viconia succeeds with a single blow from the improved Mace of Disruption, casts remove paralysis on Anomen and watches as he finishes off the pit fiend with one strike.

Degardan and Edwina
Degardan announces he is casting a dweomer at Edwina and everybody winces. I fire three debuffs then a magic missile oops polymorph. Edwin is almost his abnormal self after glugging a blue healing potion to counter the dweomer and a spell sequencer. He adds some more magic missiles but Anomen and his flail are the decisive factor Verun wasn't morphed so assume Degardan was a squirrel but couldn't see due to activity.

Setting the scene
I want to deal with Bodhi but Imoen suggests we need better equipment. I tell her we've explored everywhere while she was in Spellhold but she has an answer for everything. What about;
- The Witch of Umar Hills.
- Windspear Hills and Lord Firkraag.
- The Twisted Rune.
- The undead guardians of Kangaxx.
- The siege of Trademeet.
- The secret sewer illithid plot.
Edwin, Viconia and I fall about laughing at the drivel she's just made up. Anomen has lost the colour in his face, saying he doesn't want to die that many times over.

Verun, NE male human wild mage. With Stenky the imp familiar, Imoen, Viconia, Edwin and not-sir Anomen.

We've almost stopped laughing, then Imoen comes up with a story about a planar sphere. More hilarity at her expense.

Umar Hills
The locals have heard about Imoens Witch story. I demand 300gp in advance to "investigate" then hunt around just long enough to find a beljuril and obtain another reward from Jermien the Cowled wizard. We find directions to some temple ruins which could contain more loot so I decide to run with their money while I can.

Temple ruins
Anath wants our help, I'm a bit reluctant but Anomen tells her to bring out her undead so he can badly wound them.
Image IPB

Viconia is not to be out-done, destroying much of what remains.
Image IPB

I tell them to get on with it as our spells will be needed later before hypocritically casting MMMeteors. With all the shades removed I fiddle with a nearby mirror trying not to see Edwin relieve himself down a handy pit.

I use a second set of MMMeteors inside the ruins, then tell everybody to be careful against the shadow jailor as we can't affod any accidents. Like this one...
Image IPB

Viconia raises Imoen, then I realise I have injured myself too (44). Everybody wants to rest but no I refuse, one wilting is just a minor setback. Instead I push Anomen and Viconia into an ambush. Then we buff and enter the next area. A lich, two greater mummies and two skeleton warriors feel dangerous so I dweomer again but Imoen is first in with a Daystar Sunray.
Image IPB

Imoen has run for cover, scowling at me as she pats down her leather armour. I hurriedly explain how Wilting and Fireball are easy to mistake for each other bu she slips into the shadows and I fear she may be on my back if I continue like that. I dweomer again, wilting turning into haste as we are de-buffed and horrored. Viconia has removed paralysis on Edwin, so removes fear so Anomen, Imoen and myself as we run away. The three of us can step off the hot lava and back into the fight.

The lich casts a fireball, forcing Edwin to retreat. I tell Anomen to stop faffing about and use some of his many spells. See how easy it was.
Image IPB

Imoen moves forward, finding another lich which yanks her out of the shadows I must do this quest at lower levels normally as don't typically see liches. Anomen is unbuffed but steps forward while Imoen retreats then returns to add a Daystar Sunray. Anomen is in trouble so steps back and a timestop passes uneventfully.
Image IPB

Viconia has added a false dawn, stepping forward as Edwin and I MMissile a greater mummy to the floor. She adds a Sunray to destroy a skeleton warrior and buffs. Anomen is healing himself via DUHMight and RMagic while Viconia has a death ward, chaotic commands, bless, aid etc. She starts with a swing of her mace, destroying the lich with one strike and I chide her for wasting all those buffs.

Thaxll'ssillyia without summons.
"Ugh" says Edwin. "Step carefully, some foul creature has pooped from above".

Our plans work, other than Viconia playing mouse when Anomen is the man for the job. Imoen finds her arrows ineffective but before she thinks to switch to Daystar our work is done. Four lower resistances (104%), two pierce magics, doom, a malison/emotion/slow sequencer, two MMArrow/MMissile sequencers and Edwin's little finger of death.
Image IPB

Shade Lord/Altar
We're in good shape so step outside. Edwin and I have cast chain lightnings and Imoen relied on arrows, but Anomen flails Shadow Patrick and the Altar as Viconia maces the Shade Lord.

Interesting reads there Gate70. Sounds like you are having fun, which I guess would be the point of a minimal no-reloads...you taking this party to ToB or stopping when SoA done?
